Ramsey

The Denver Broncos just can’t catch a break. As if the team didn’t have enough injuries to worry about, they announced Wednesday that backup quarterback Patrick Ramsey has been placed on Injured Reserve, ending his season.

Ramsey played for a few snaps in Monday’s loss to the Patriots after Jay Cutler injured his right index finger. Ramsey aggravated the right elbow injury he suffered before the season began.

Expect practice squad QB Darrell Hackney to compete for the backup role with a veteran the Broncos would likely bring in.

I like this move. Personally, I would rather just see him cut from the team. Ramsey sucks. Now we can bring in a real backup for cutler, in case another injury happens to him like his finger. We can hire a reliable guy to come in. Ramsey just sucks. Lets go get a VET.

Obviously Hackney will move up, but then what do we do? Is there anyone out there worth going after? Do we dare take a chance on Daunte Culpepper? Who else is out there?

  • orangecrush74

Tim Rattay. He know the west coast offense and is very capable of leading a team. What about LB who is out there that can come in and help?

  • andy b.

Just curious– what exactly happened to Ramsey? What did he injure?

  • Dakota Fan

Hey OC 74- Good call on Tim Rattay. I had mistakenly thought he was already signed.

Hey Joe- of course Ramsey sucks. As long as the backup quarterback doesn’t trip over the Gatorade table, he does exactly what the backup quarterback is supposed to do.

PLEASE don’t take a chance on Culpepper- he probably weighs 400 lbs. by now.

I love posting on here. It beats the heck out of actually doing my job.

andy – right elbow. Sorry I didn’t include that in the initial report.

Also, backup T Eric Pears was placed on the Reserve/Non Injury football illness list. Ouch.

  • andy b.

Kyle– thanks for the info. Not that it matters much either way, I guess, just curious.
    Pears too? Uggh.
It’s been awhile since I felt such an ominous pall over our team. I can’t believe how pessimistic I’m feeling about a season in which we are actually leading the damn division.
DakotaFan– ditto on posting. Especially being stranded in Raiderland, where I have gotten no end of s**% over that last game. And that’s from RAIDERS fans, who usually can’t even look me in the eye…

so where does this leave us long haul? do we keep boss or Ramsey after this season… are we going to cut that shaw kid? that’s three potential roster spots, Hackney will be one, how about the other two? I think that the trade deadline passed, so that isn’t an option..

ESPN is also reporting that the Broncos are on the verge of signing WR Chad Jackson. Which would be ironic because that is basically who we bypassed in favor of Javon Walker.

    So Ramsey is out…
I think no one is gonna miss him. He stinks!!
What about Boss Bailey? He was always injuried and the few minutes of game he had weren’t especially good.
I’m just worried about Champ, he IS a really good player, we will miss him for a month.
