The Denver Post has an article up this morning containing the opinion of David McGill, one of the two attorneys representing Rasheedah Watley, Marshall’s Ex-Girlfriend. McGill fired shots back at the defense of Brandon Marshall a day after hearing accusations of a “shakedown”.
“His story that he has been a victim is as pathetic as the story that he slipped on a McDonald’s bag and injured his arm,”
“Hopefully, he will be as eager to tell his story in a court of law, under oath, as he has been in the media.”
By now we’ve all heard the story from 50 different angles of what happened between Brandon and Rasheedah, but this is what McGill had to say on the matter:
“We find it disturbing Mr. Marshall has denied physically abusing this young lady,”
We have plenty of evidence to corroborate the history of physical abuse.”
You’ve gotta love the Darth Vader tone in that quote. Engage force choke! What you won’t read in this piece from the Denver Post is the past cases Ms. Watley’s attorneys have taken. David McGill is also the lawyer for Randy Moss’ ex, Rachelle Washington and is pushing for a financial settlement for “mental and physical harm as a result of Moss’ actions”. McGill insists that a financial settlement was always brought out first by the Moss party.
Watley’s other lawyer is Mark Issa, who defended the “Mansion Madam” last year. You can read more about that here, if you care to. I think the case history of McGill has to raise an eyebrow, and give you a grain a salt when it comes to his opinion on this matter. He is a laywer for her after all. It is starting to look a bit like ambulance chasing when you look at Watson’s legal representation’s track record.
Even though this McGill character seems to enjoy running down big time money from NFL stars, it doesn’t make it right that Brandon Marshall slapped a woman. But I don’t think we’ve heard all sides to this story yet. There’s other pieces that aren’t falling into place, such as… Why would she be the one with a restraining order in Georgia on Brandon if she’s the crazy chasing him around? Not that this would be the first time a needy ex puts the restraining order on to make themselves look like a victim.
Didn’t Brandon Marshall take the famous Cris Carter rookie symposium class on staying away from psycho women? This thing needs to be covered more, I guarantee if players would pay better attention to John Elway’s class on personal finance we wouldn’t have so many of them going broke 2 years into retirement. One things for sure, this story is not over, and details are yet to emerge.
