Brandon Marshall

More good news on the Brandon Marshall injury front -  the 3rd year wide receiver has gone from making one-handed snags to using both hands to haul in the football.

Marshall has been participating in drills during the team’s various mini camps, but had yet to use his right hand to catch a football until today. Marshall sustained a severe injury to his right forearm in March after roughhousing with his family in Florida. The injury required surgery to repair a vein, artery, nerve and tendons in his right arm.

Marshall is still taking it easy, gently cradling the football in his right arm and hand instead of trying to grip the football.

Overall, this is a good sign of his recovery as Marshall was expected to resume catching passes on June 22.

Damn, beat me to the post.

This is a huge deal to me. Last year, I remember the Orange Mane guys being flat out impressed at Marshall on the field in training camp, despite having missed time due to injury. He had that difficult stretch where Shanahan had to call him out to get him to go out there and play through it, and he did.

Clearly that message has stuck. The guy has two weeks before he’s scheduled to be allowed to catch with both hands, and he’s out there doing everything he can to stay on top of his game. That’s some serious work ethic. My only hope is that he isn’t doing damage to himself while he’s doing it.

That said, Marshall is one of those just damned impressive guys. I hope we lock him up for a long time because, despite his various failings off the field, he is a monster. And his off-the-field incidents have all been pretty marginal, especially compared to what’s going on with other guys across the league.

The guy works. The guy works well with Cutler. I want to see these two playing together in 10 years, in the list of top 10 passing/receiving pairs.

I see that you were working on the same thing “behind the scenes”… thanks. Great minds think alike!

Yeah, I’m thrilled he’s working his tail off in practices. I think he learned his lesson, and his ceiling is nothing short of Hall of Famer at WR. He’s that talented. Hopefully we extend him after this year.

Id rather see BM not catching anything. Just the slightest tweak and his arm can be all jacked up…tendons are some delicate things. Fully recover.

Pictures can be decieving I know. However, this picture inspires no confidence that his right hand is any better than Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore.

Check out this other picture Dario, maybe it will ease your mind, maybe it won’t. He’s holding the ball with his right hand – it’s not a firm grip, but at least it looks more natural.

    Yeah, that’s much better :)
