Bill Williamson (formerly of the Denver Post now ESPN) is reporting that the Broncos are showing preliminary interest in signing halfbacks Shaun Alexander who was recently cut by the Seahawks or Dominic Rhodes after he was released by the Raiders last week. If this were to be true “it doesn’t seem close to happening at this point“. Williamson is going out on a limb and saying if Denver brought in either that the team would likely release Travis Henry after his well documentedrocky start” with the Broncos. Williamson surmises the Broncos are high on Selvin Young and new 5th round pick Ryan Torain so that would leave Henry as the odd man out in the backfield logjam . This is based off the speculation that Shanahan no longer wants to deal with the troubled Henry and would rather get a veteran replacement on the roster now before the upcoming team camps.

I’m having a hard time figuring out how Bill Williamson is gainfully employed.

Not just employed, but failing upwards at a rapid clip.

At the start of his ESPN gig I thought he was doing pretty well. Now he’s up to his old DPO tricks. “The Broncos may, the Broncos might, no evidence to say it, I’m just twiddling my thumbs.” Meh.

The Broncos aren’t really interested in either of these guys. Or at least I’m not.

I believe Henry has more motor left than Alexander. Keep in mind, if the league could have busted Henry last year for pot, they certainly would have. The Broncos are a person paying high prices for rich food and then purging when the meal causes a little heartburn. It’s time to either eat healthier or deal.

I would like to see Henry shape up a little and stay out of trouble. He proved he could be one of the top running backs in the NFL with Denver the first few games last season. I believe he led the league in rushing until he got hurt and all the pot talk started to come into play. Not to sure how i feel about Alexander. His numbers have been declining greatly year after year.
