[Anthony Alridge]

[Alridge]
Name: Anthony Alridge
Height – Weight: 5’9″ – 175 lbs.
Position: Running back
Age – Experience: 24 – R
College: Houston

Anthony Alridge signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2008. Lovingly nicknamed “Quick,” short for “Quick 6” by his friends and family (even his father calls him Quick), Alridge’s small size left him out of the draft and into the hearts of any fan who cheers for the underdog. He had a productive career in all facets at the University of Houston, in running the ball, catching it out of the backfield, and in kick returns.

The Good: You can’t teach spirit or want-to, and it’s obvious Alridge has that. His numbers in college (4,438 all-purpose yards) are mightily impressive, and he holds the school record with an average of 9.4 yards per play. Some reports indicate he’s already worked hard and gained around 15 lbs. Oh, and as his nickname suggests, he’s freaking fast.

The Bad: The reason he went undrafted: his size. Can he take a beating at the pro level?

Status: He’ll have to work hard (really, really hard) to make the team this year. 2nd round pick Eddie Royal has the edge in kick returns, and the Broncos are relatively stacked at wide receiver and running back (although perhaps not with big-impact players).

Turning it over to you: Are you rooting for Alridge to break the roster or practice squad, or is he just another training camp body?

Sounds like the kid has a chance, he has the edge over Royal in the 40-time department.

    Royal: 4.39
    Alridge: 4.36

So who knows what the kids potential is at the next level. I do know that Royal tested very well in the strength combine activities.

To be honest, I’m seeing a running back corps of Young, Torain, Young and Hall. This guy would have to be the second coming of TD for me to want to see any of those 3 displaced.

I just get the feeling that with the numbers at Running Back, the Bronocs wouldn’t have signed this guy unless they thought he was going to be special. And if there’s one team that seems to be good at finding undrafted running backs……

Maybe a year on the practise squad?

24 freaking years old????? Did he flunk a couple years, a slow learner, or just start late? That’s like 2yrs in the NFL!

I hope to see the guy play the preseason atleast, small RBs are always fun to watch and see do well.

His value if any will be at kick returner or a project slot receiver and seeing as we drafted one of those in the second I can’t see him making the final roster. He’s lightning quick

Sorry I just realized I meant to say Henry, Torain, Young and Hall.

If this guy has a chance, it’ll probably be in place of Andre Hall.

Looks like another Quentin Griffin to me but the difference is, we didn’t spend a draft pick here. Sure, throw him in the mix and see who comes out on top.
