[Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall]

“He’s not my favorite person right now,” said young Jay Cutler, speaking of teammate Brandon Marshall at the Broncos’ Dove Valley complex earlier today. Cutler had a mouthful to say about Marshall, whose most recent off-field incident has seemingly struck a nerve with his friend and practice buddy over the past three months.

“Going into his third year, coming off a big year last year, it’s disappointing. With Jeremy Bates taking over the passing game we wanted to get a lot of work in this summer and obviously he was going to be a big part of that. And now it’s up in the air when he’s going to come back.”

After watching the video it doesn’t seem as bad as the local papers are spinning it.  He makes sure he says how much love he has for Brandon several times, but most his quotes seem to be coming out of frustration.  He had big plans for this offseason to work on the new passing system, and Marshall’s off-field crap threw a wrench in it.

Honestly, I love the leadership he’s showing.  We’ve been waiting for Cutler to take a step from “young, rookie-type” to the leader of the locker room.  This might be that very step.

Couldn’t agree more Kyle. I really like Cutler’s tone in this video. It’s more about explaining how these types of incidents are hurting the off season growth of the offense rather than the broken record of the media saying he’s childish. I was shocked to see how much more mature Jay seemed in this interview than last season, he really is stepping up in to the leader role that a QB needs to be.

I’d like to see Cutler grow and develop into a better haircut.
