Elam Hits the Market Tonight

Jason Elam, Broncos franchise record holder in both games played and points scored, becomes an unrestricted free agent at 10:01 PM MT tonight. The franchise kicker for the Broncos helped the team win 4 of their 7 games by kicking game-winning field goals last year.

Both Mike Shanahan and Elam have expressed interest in his return to Denver, but the two sides have not come to an agreement with less than 12 hours before the free agency period begins. After the deadline, Elam can sign with any team.

This situation is just ridiculous to me.  If they’re interested in bringing Elam back, shouldn’t they have done it already?  Now it really looks like we could be in the midst of Elam’s final days as a Denver Bronco.  Cross your fingers they get something done today.

    Are there any prolific kickers in the draft we’re looking at? If not this is madness.

    I was hoping we would give Brandon Coutu, a kicker out of Georgia, a look for the future, but i didnt want him to have to come in this year. Jason Elam is one of the great kickers in the league. However, if we need to fill his spot that is where i would go. But that should only be if all else fails.
