“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”

— That song that, ironically, never ends being stuck in your head.

I started BroncoTalk in November of 2006 — days before the Denver Broncos decided to bench Jake Plummer. So this blog has survived quarterbacks Jake Plummer, Jay Cutler, Kyle Orton, Chris Simms, and Tim Tebow.

Like many an NFL defense, it will not survive Peyton Manning.

Folks, after a lot of thought, BroncoTalk – Denver Broncos Blog and News is coming to an end. That’s the bad news. The good news?

We’re moving. To Mile High Report.

Yes, “we.” As in, most of the BT Staff.

John Bena (The Sports Guru) is stepping down, and SB Nation approached me to take over as lead blogger. I accepted.

This isn’t an early April Fools joke. (I was half-hoping the deal would get finalized March 31st… that way we could announce it on April 1st… then really trip people out April 2nd after they all assumed it was a joke.) We’re not RaiderTalk-ing people here. We’re really moving, to the Big Dog of big dogs in the Broncos blogosphere.

So why would I give up BT to run MHR? It wasn’t an easy decision, but there are reasons. I’ll be transparent and lay them out here.

  • Running BroncoTalk interfered with Writing BroncoTalk. As far as the site and business go, BT has always been a one-man shop. I pay for the domain, the web server, maintain the code that runs it, and have been responsible for layout. I deal with advertisers and contacts around sports media myself. As the blog grew, this aspect took up more time than actually writing. At MHR, there are large groups of talented people to handle all of those facets. I’ll have support. I’ll be free to write.
  • MHR is bigger. A bigger audience and bigger community.
  • And, of course. I’ve never B.S.’ed you guys. It’s a financial move for me as well.

What does this mean for BroncoTalk as it is now? The BroncoTalk domain and site will remain as long as I see fit. It will stand as an archive of Broncos content. They did not buy BroncoTalk. But they did buy my exclusivity. I will no longer be actively updating BroncoTalk.

Who’s all leaving? Among BT Staffers: Josh Temple, Mr. East, Ian Henson, Christopher D. Hart, and Big Pete have agreed to move over to MHR with me. Others are still on the fence, either by my choice or theirs. Jon Heath won’t be able to come over at this time due to his contract at Bleacher Report. Be sure to support him over there.

Could someone else run BT? That’s something being considered.

Should I go over and check things out at MHR? Damn straight.

If you like the way I run things here, come on over to MHR. I’ll be running things that way over there too. I’ll be responsible for community guidelines, staff, and content/direction just as I have been here at BroncoTalk. But I’ll have a ton of support in the form of SBNation crew and the MHR staff in place.

Thank you.

Thank you, BroncoTalk readers, commenters, and emailers for an unbelievable six and a half years. Every comment, critique, piece of feedback, tweet, and email means the world to me. None of this would have been possible without you.

Is it the end of an era? Hell no, it’s the end of one guy writing for this one site. And from this end, a new beginning.

See you on the other side!

Thanks for keeping us informed all this past years. I’m sure you guys will continue with the excellent work at your new home. Good luck brothers!

Wow. This has been my favorite site since its inception. In alot of ways, it was what kept me going through the bad years. On many occasions I have tried to emulate BroncoTalk with my own site that never took off. I wish you guys all the best in your new setting!

  • juice21

I have read this blog almost daily for 5 years and I really appreciate what it was and what it has become. I’m proud of you guys for getting this recognition. Good job. I will follow you.

  • DIY

    Sad day Kyle.

Been following this blog for what feels like manny years now.

    see you on MHR

  • Pete Baron

I have always been a “dual citizen” of BroncoTalk and MHR. I eventually settled full time on BT because I liked the discussions we got going on over here. Hopefully we can bring that flavor over to MHR and increase this “lightening in a bottle” chemistry we have going on. I have no doubts that we will all make that transaction easy and grow as friends and Broncos fans there as well.

  • TheTroglodyte

Kyle, I’ve been coming here daily for the last 4 – 5 years now including during the offseason. I love the format and the community here. It is small (in comparison to MHR) and close knit.

You get little glimpses into both the writers and some of the steady commentors lives and build a strange bond through the disagreements, agreements, cheers and woes.

I have never commented on another blog (maybe 2 or 3 comments on MHR over the last 4 years) but something about BroncoTalk.net simply resonated with me and made me want to participate.

I fully understand why you are making the move and wish you a TON of success with it. I will greatly miss BroncoTalk.net though, as well as several specific very active commentors from the community here. Engaging with Jon, Aref, Doom and Pete are at the top of the list but there are many more of you (too many to name individually) that helped make this site great.

I’m glad most of the staff will be following you over as I enjoy all of the writers here much more than the current writers at MHR. I will continue reading all of your content and clicking on the occasional ad to try and support everyone but my commentating days are likely over.

Captain Kirk does a pretty good day to day training camp report but I hope you will continue to do yours as well. Between the two of us, I like your reporting a lot better :)

Thank you everyone for making this site feel like home!

the wrong day to be away from WiFi for a long time.

  • Alphabeatsoups

What The…… Damm i’ve been reading this blog for a long time, years.. Thank you all very much.

  • herc_rock

    Bummer. good luck, man.

  • stuckinraiderland

Man, I’m bummed. I’ll be headed over to check out MHR– but however that site runs it won’t be the same.
Thanks, guys, for the great work over the years! It’s been my virtual escape for Raiderland, a place to remind myself that there are other parts of the world, parts of the world where being a football fan and being a convicted felon didn’t have to be the same thing.

  • jdkchem

I saw MHR as a hangout for wannabes and less for actual fans. And they had a fair share of reading challenged.

  • AZDynamics

Thank you, Monty, for a great job! Anyone who has any idea of what you have accomplished should have a lot of respect for you.

John Bena has always been a favorite personality of mine, and I’m glad to see he’s being replaced by another one. If you can do as good or better job than him, you’ll be going some, and I suspect you will.

Congratulations. I support you in your very difficult decision.

  • http://twitter.com/badimo badimo

Hopefully, some of what made BroncoTalk better can get brought to MHR, but there is no replacement for the ‘small town’ community you could feel here.

  • areferee

    HOLY CRAP!

I’m not used to free agency yet… not even the loss of Pete Rozelle… and now I have to endure THIS?

You DO realize that this requires new bookmarks, creating passwords and actual WORK to accomplish this transition? I am a creature of habit. I function in a world of rules and consistency. I may have to enforce a penalty on this one.

    Oh, ALL RIGHT!

But only if you promise to take all of the good guys with you. You’re off to a good start with Big Pete and the other writers, but I’m talking about the REAL good guys… like The Caveman and Doom and Ant33 and all the others that made this site what it is… (was)!

(I only chose 3 examples. It could have been many more, because they all tend to be odd, like me, but I had to choose the three oddest, just as examples of the weird and wonderful BroncoTalk.)

I am sad to hear that Jon has other commitments, but he can’t hide. I shall find him.

MHR is better off and I certainly have enjoyed the ride. As we drift into free agency, and join a different locker room, may the atmosphere there be as congenial and energetic as it was here.

Au revoir et bonne chance BT. La séparation est un si doux chagrin.

  • Pete Baron

You’re trying to make me cry, aren’t you ;)

I really hope you comment over there. At least to my mindless drivel. Lol

  • anthony33

Wow… happy for you, but not sure how excited I am about the move. Been reading this site and occasionally posting for the past 4 or 5 years. Rarely miss a day of reading. I’ve been to MHR as well, but have always liked the feel and closeness of BT better. Hoefully, with your influence, you can generate a similar feel over there. Since they went to Sports Nation (at least that what I think it is) it has become too generic for me.

Appreciate all you have done in running this site, I know I will miss it, but will definitely give MHR another shot!

    Best of luck
    anthony33

  • cdubarkansasrep

I’m going to miss yall quiling on this website. It was always a good time on here and ya were always tight knit.

  • TD30ismvp

This sucks balls…damn your spot on reasons…BT is the fellas hanging at a BBQ drinking beers talking Broncos and talking smack…MHR is…not. Oh well, TD30isMVP has been my screen name since I was on AOL Bronco’s chatrooms so I guess I will just have to adapt to something else.

  • cdubarkansasrep

Congr (ex) BT staff. All I can hear now is the Jefferson theme song in my head “Moving on up, to the top.” I have only been on this blog for about two years, but I can tell you this I loved every moment. Except that April fools trick last year, Yuck still have a bad taste ha.

All in all I hope and wish you guys the best and hopefully you can find someone to keep this website running . Please!!!!!

  • Mergrath

Trog nailed it! I love BT and will definitely miss it as part of my daily Broncos fix. Good luck to all of you and I look forward to reading your columns at MHR in the future.

    Thank you all!!!

  • TD30ismvp

Fine, I signed up, apparently there is a 24hr period you have to wait to post over “there”. Good to see you are there ref..

  • anthony33

Oh yeah… BTW Dumervil needs to shit or get off the pot.

How’s that for a last post on BT?

  • anthony33

BTW… Elvis, shit or get off the pot!! Do you want to be with a SB contender for the next 2-3 years or with team that has just been dismantled? It’s not that tough,

How’s that for a final post on BT!!

  • flbronc

    Kyle-
Haven’t posted in a long while, but I’ve been reading…

Thanks for your years of doing this. I know I have enjoyed the content and debate on the forums- wether I posted or not. Never was a huge MHR fan, only because it was pretty inferior to what you had going on here. The live blogs were great while we had them!

Best of luck to you and everyone headed MHR. I’ll give it another shot. Looking forward to seeing more posts from you!

Honestly, good move Kyle. The website is cleaner. Looks like they are pumping in some budget & you are bringing your peeps with you. Not a sad day. Just a new beginning. God speed sir. I’ll be sure to follow.

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.gibbons.509 Michael Gibbons

It’s been great!! Been following this site since jays rookie year! I don’t even want to know how many hours have been consumed on this site.

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.gibbons.509 Michael Gibbons

    Whatever happened to “Kerry”

  • TheTroglodyte

haha making me Google Translate you to the final post! I love it.

  • gavmorr

Damn, sad to see the ol’ BT go! By FAR my favorite Bronco reporting & discussion on the web. Great to year you guys are keeping the dream alive and moving onto other Orange pastures but this blog will be dearly missed. I can only hope for T100-style resurrection one day. Awesome job guys, don’t stop. Gonna be one hell of a season!

  • Pete Baron

Dude, Kerry PPPIIIIIISSSSSEEEEEDDDDD me off with every word he spewed. He’s the reason I initially signed up with MHR. haha
If you said “there are clouds in the sky” (and there were), Kerry would argue with you that you are just stupid and blind and that what you saw wasn’t clouds, but the stench of the Broncos. haha

  • areferee

Looking for you “on the other side”, as well, TD.

  • anthony33

Thanks ref! I’ve always enjoyed your thoughtful and concise postings!!

  • Mark Harper

    Best of luck, man.

If George Jefferson can do it, you can too. Movin’ on up …

  • Patrick Benko

Thats too bad, WEll i will be following you MHR, like any dedicated Broncoholic would!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

  • TheTroglodyte

    ROTFL!!!! That is SO true!

  • andrew

Great job fellas, see you at the Report

  • Pete Baron

See Trog? That’s why you need to keep commenting and reading my stuff at MHR. lol

  • Doom92

So you sold out… I guess everyone does sooner or later but I get how it can be a good thing for you… I guess. I as well appreciate what you have done here but for me it does seem to be more bitter than sweet. I don’t like the MHR, never have, and I don’t care for the over officious jerks on some of the Broncos Forums, They are strait up a bunch of pussys… that all led me here.

You guys have always let folks openly speak there minds and taken a “no holds bared” type of approach, I’ve loved that and it is what has made me stay and keep coming back. Even when I’ve been wrong or on the short end of a conversation I have enjoyed the freedom to speak what I think.

I’ll miss it as well, for the longest time I’d wait for my emails to come in and tell me something was going on in here. Then I got to where I came in because I didn’t want to wait, and became addicted… :-/ its true.

So, with all that said, see ya… Good luck and bye bye. I’ve enjoyed talking to you fellas. bantering and yes at times arguing but knowing all the while that I had pals here. Trog, Pete, Anthony, jdkchem, Ref, TD30 and yes Jim Jebow, I’ll miss writing with you fellas. Monty you were my fav writer on here, I think I’ve expressed that before but truth be known I’ll miss you all.
As well I’d be glad to share my email… And btw, I’m Dan. Not really Doom92 ;-).

  • Doom92

Thats cool brother, I mentioned you too (before I read this). But top three oddest? Well, I guess I have been called worse in my day… ;-)

  • Doom92

WORD!!! That is exactly what I see there also.

  • Pete Baron

    Big_Pete1999@yahoo.com
And yeah, that’s why I settled in here too. I’m actually half heartedly counting the hours or days till I get banned for harshly stating the truth.

This place was a haven for Broncos fans who didn’t want to be PC in a PC world. It was raw and dirty, not clean and sanitary. But I’ll do my best over there to keep my flavor of writing going. I may not be allowed to say a few things as brashly as here, but I’m sure I’ll find a way around that.

I’ll miss you my man. It’s rare for me to follow guys on here, but you are one of them. If you don’t head over there, I’ll email you some of my stuff so you can laugh and shake your head at my articles. Lol.

  • Pete Baron

And hell, you might even find drunk texts during and immediately after Broncos games full of cuss words cause I can’t type them out over there about how Fox shit the bed and lost us a game ;) haha or how Doom had more offsides than tackles ;) lol

  • http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2582236 Elway4Life

I’ve been a member on here for 2-3 years although I don’t comment as much as the regulars I always enjoyed checking the site out a lot. It was my only Broncos site too. This is sad and the site will be greatly missed. A congratulations is in order though. I mean you do something that you love and when you’re really good at it’s nice to get recognized for your hard work and dedication (thus get paid). I’m an actor so I know how it is working your way up over time since that’s what I’ve done too. I checked out Mile High Report and it looks and feels nothing like this site which is a shame. Not nearly as many news articles for the Broncos and they even have things like horse racing on there. Maybe that will change when you guys make the full move over there? If so then maybe I’ll try it out. Otherwise, I’ll have to look for a new Broncos site unfortunately.

  • Pete Baron

That’s actually not horse racing, it’s what they call the daily Broncos news. Lol

We’re (at least I will) trying to bring our close knit feel over there. I’ll still write the way I write and comment the way I comment, so I know that I’ll be doing my part toile it feel like home. I hope to see you and everyone over there. It won’t feel like home unless we all join up. So lets make it feel like home, shall we?

  • http://www.facebook.com/adamsantos09 Adam Santos

I’ve never posted on BT before, but I’ll leave this as my first and last message: I’ve been coming to this blog for about the past three Bronco seasons. I have NO idea how I found out about this site, but it’s the ONLY blog that I follow on the entire internet. It’s my number one and only source I do for reading Broncos news.
Thanks for your time running this site. I’ll definitely move over to Mile High Report to continue following your work. Thanks for all your time, money, and effort you put into this website.

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.gibbons.509 Michael Gibbons

I basically started commenting after reading numerous comments by him. He did play football for Colorado so he was a pro.

  • Pete Baron

So did Jamarcus Russell …….. NAILED IT!!! haha
Look, just cause a guy played a sport doesn’t mean he knows anything about that sport. All it means is that he was good enough to be a 3rd stringer on a college football team. I know a lot of athletes that play in college sports that don’t know jack shit about the sport even if they pretend they do.

But more to your posts on here, it’s sad to see this place go. I hope to see you around MHR. Most of the staff is going over there, so it should start to feel more like home to us all.

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.gibbons.509 Michael Gibbons

As long as they’re is a broncos football ill be around. Ill sign up for MHR soon and wait for some of the guys first articles

  • Pete Baron

    I wrote mine this morning.

  • http://twitter.com/jheath_DEN Jon

    Love you guys.
