We would not be surprised to see the Denver Broncos make a few splashes this offseason. Between the Darrelle Revis situation and the many big-name free agents about to hit the open market, chances are that Denver will be buzzed about this spring.

But the buzz dies down, the draft will be right around the corner.  The Broncos currently have six selections and unless they trade out, they will be selecting 28th overall on April 25th.

Here are two scenarios to consider:

1. Alabama RB Eddie Lacy falls to No. 28 and the Broncos draft him there.

2. Lacy goes in the middle of the first round, so the Broncos go with Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o.

Personally, I would like to see the team go after Lacy.  But if he is not available, I would not be surprised to see John Elway and Co. draft Te’o.

The team has been down-playing the MLB situation, but they may be bluffing.  And Elway has been intrigued by Te’o, who was considered a top prospect before his poor performance in the National Championship game.

Who do you think Denver will—not should—draft in the first round?  Dish out your thoughts in the comments below!

Put it short and simple. Taking Teo in the first round is like us taking Tebow in the first round. Stupidity!!!!

One more thing what is all the hype over Lacy? When I think bama rb’s last season I think of that freashman. So why not shoot for a knile Davis or Ball in the later rounds.

  • Andy Gilson

Drafting a two down LB in the first round? Seriously? Te’o is 3rd to 4th round pick.

For me, i would go corner or RB, a lot of good talent this year!!

I’d love to draft a LDE to create pressure with consistency and set our edge… so my pick is Okafor

I think Lacy will be available at #28, and will be selected by the Falcons… while Te’o will be selected by Coughlin.

    Anyway, pure speculation =)

Despite Millner, there is no top CB talent in this draft.

  • TD30ismvp

We are going to trade out again and get more picks. The depth is insane this year but the top tier players are lacking.

    My Draft order…
1 Best DT avaliable. Must be a big run stopper first
    2 Fast wide out
    3 Best gaurd/center position player
    4 Another DT
    5 linebacker depth
    6 Swing Tackle/Gaurd depth
Pick up Shawn Lee FA. Hillis as full back

I hate trading out of the first round normally as the value takes a big hit. This year seems to be an exception to the rule. HOWEVER if Lacy is still available at 28 there is NO WAY we can pass on him.

I’ve watched several of his games over the last two years and he is an absolute beast of a RB with a solid all around game.

He’s not the fastest guy but his playing speed is better than his 40 speed and his explosion is really good for a guy his size. He’ll need to learn to sink his hips a little more at the NFL level but my understanding is he is very coachable so I don’t think that will be a big deal.

  • TheTroglodyte

Of course I am assuming Eddie will run a 4.5 – 4.6 on his pro day. Maybe he shocks everyone and turns in a 4.45 in which case his playing speed will be about the same as his 40 time.

I agree – Alex Okafor in 1st, Ryan Swope in the 2nd and Le’Veon Bell in the 3rd would be nice!

They should take Rhodes, Trufant, or Banks. It’s hard to believe they’ll all be gone by # 28… Lacy and Teo are great options as well, but I don’t think Elway is going to spend a 1st rounder on a RB considering him and Fox are so infatuated with that kid that can’t block. God I hope we drop Hillman, not going to happen though.

I don’t think denver will be getting a RB in the early draft. They love Hillman and are looking for a big guy to complement him. You can find bigger FA’s like Greene or Hillis than in the draft.
