The Denver Broncos have reportedly added more depth to their interior offensive line Monday, signing recently released Patriots center Dan Koppen, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports.

Koppen, 32, was released by the Patriots last week. An eight-year starter for Bill Belichick, Koppen was placed on Injured Reserve last year following an ankle injury suffered in Week One of 2011.

Koppen had “no intentions” of retiring following the release, per one report.

Koppen snapped to Tom Brady (and Matt Cassel) in 120 regular season games and three Super Bowls from 2003-2011. Now he has the chance to snap to Peyton Manning.

    Difficult to tell for me. but we have all heard how bad Walton is. I don’t see it. I can only assume it has more to do with calling the right protection schemes than his physical ability to block, but again, not sure.
    I would think it would take a couple of weeks to get a new center ready regardless of his past experience because he needs to learn the Broncos offensive lingo.
    I did see Manning on the sideline having conversations with Walton a couple of times. Hopefully he picks it up at some point, there are two full years of development invested in him.

    After the 53 man roster is established, signing a new player is only half of the story. Who was cut to make room for the signing? If we added Hanie and Koppen, which two players were cit or otherwise removed from the active roster? Follow up?.

    As far as I can tell, Koppen is the only ginger on the team. I’m guessing he was signed just for lightning protection (gingers are lightning proof) I bet the team will all be hanging close to Koppen when storms move in

    I don’t get the joke… Is “ginger” and the whole lightning bit a red headed person or racial slur? Doesnt seem like you if it is, like I said I just don’t get it or think its funny…

    My Guess would be that most of or part of them can play guard as well… Of course that could still be a basketball team, especially if one or more of them can play forward ;-)..
