On August 24th, EA Sports will release Madden NFL 13 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Vita and Wii.  Leading up to the game’s release, EA will announce the Top Ten rated players at each position.

On Monday, EA announced quarterback ratings and Denver’s Peyton Manning came in sixth with a 93 overall rating.  Interestingly, Peyton’s little brother, Eli, is ranked two spots above the elder Manning at 97 overall.

With Eli coming off a Super Bowl victory and Peyton coming off neck surgery, EA’s ratings are justifiable.  Top Ten rated quarterbacks in the popular video game after the jump.

No. 1 — Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay, 99

No. 2 — Tom Brady, New England, 98

No. 3 — Drew Brees, New Orleans, 98

No. 4 — Eli Manning, New York, 97

No. 5 — Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh, 95

No. 6 — Peyton Manning, Denver, 93

No. 7 — Philip Rivers, San Diego, 92

No. 8 — Matthew Stafford, Detroit, 91

No. 9 — Tony Romo, Dallas, 90

No. 10 — Michael Vick, Philadelphia, 89

Complete quarterback ratings will be released on Friday and the top ten running backs in the game will be announced next Monday.  The top ten wide receivers will be announced in two weeks.  It is unclear if EA will release the Top Ten ratings for every position before the game is released on August 24.

Denver’s Willis McGahee (rated 79 overall last year), Demaryius Thomas (73) and Eric Decker (69) should see significant rating jumps after their 2011 performances and two of them may sneak into the Top Ten rankings.  Check back for RB and WR ratings over the next two weeks.

Do you think Peyton’s rating is fair?  Are you more excited to play with the Broncos in Madden this year than you were a year ago?  Let us know in the comments below!

“With Eli coming off a Super Bowl victory and Peyton coming off neck surgery, EA’s ratings are justifiable.” …. Justifiable, my neck.

At least he’s above Rivers. I would have killed my dog if he wasn’t above Rivers. And I really really love my dogs.

Agreed. I don’t like seeing Big Ben higher, either.

I see what you did there.

EA has always been a joke to me.

It’s understandable that Peyton’s rating would slip a little after being out of football for so long. But Roethlisberger higher than Peyton? Okay, we’ll know more after the upcoming game against the Steelers.
