  • Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos obviously only has great things to say about Andrew Luck.  [Indy Star]
  • My friend Brian Shrout had some interesting insights into Ronnie Hilman, via Hilman’s old high school football coach. [Mile High Report]
  • One writer thinks Seau’s death could be the beginning of the end of the NFL, which is a bit far-fetched if you ask me.  Take MMA, for example. [Examiner]
  • Peter King also addresses Junior Seau in his Monday Morning Quarterback, suggesting the NFL will go crazy for player safety (not a bad thing). [SI.com]
  • One draft analysis claims the Broncos didn’t draft any starters in this years draft. Who can argue with that? Ask again in 2015. [NFL.com]

I’ve been saying for awhile that either the NFL will not exist in 15 years or it will be so different we can’t recognize it. More and more players are going to keep coming forward as players from the 90’s continue to age.

The scientific evidence is going to keep mounting (hockey is starting to help supply brain trauma victims by the dozens now too) and the law suits will keep mounting.

MMA is really a safer sport than Football but I wouldn’t expect that to be around in 15 years either. At least not with head contact allowed.

It’s kinda sad but this is the beginning of the end.

I think players will continue to get bigger and stronger.  The players and the coaches inside the NFL will keep it strong.

“parents are more and more frequently going to encourage their kids not to play and it’s going to severely deplete the talent level over the next decade too.”

^^That’s already the case and has been that way for decades, and players are still getting bigger.

Concussions, in general, will be treated more seriously but they will never go away.  Some NFL players had more concussions doing something stupid outside of the field anyways.  If anything, going after the players head via a 300lb+ player obliterating a 190 pounder (or even a quarterback), might be terms for suspension, but that’s the only major change I foresee for the future.

According to the statistics it’s begun to skyrocket mate. Nothing like it has been the last couple of decades. It’s gone way beyond parents not wanting their kids to get a broken arm.
