One thing has become clear during Manning Watch — Twitter is a tough forest to navigate. There is a virtual ton of pundits and experts out there, claiming to know the inner workings of the Denver Broncos‘ visits with Peyton Manning and the Hall of Famer’s mindset in general. Knowing who to trust on the social media monster is half the battle.

Here’s one person on Twitter you can definitely trust — John Elway.

The Broncos’ Executive Vice President of Football Operations posted the following updates regarding the team’s visit and workout with Manning in North Carolina on Twitter Friday, making it clear that Manning did in fact throw for the Broncos today, and that, while a contract hasn’t been hammered or possibly even discussed, things are moving along:

We enjoyed visiting with Peyton today in N.C. He threw the ball great and looked very comfortable out there.

Watching him throw today was the next step in this important process for our team and Peyton. It was a productive visit and went well.

I find it encouraging that Elway is willing to talk on the record about his visit with Peyton, and think that the fact the Broncos have seen him twice is also an encouraging sign. Today’s developments were encouraging, but we all have to be patient — Manning might decide to take even more time to decide where he wants to play the rest of his career.

No, these comments are a product of watching PM manage his entire career.  No Rocket science.  IT is just the way he is.  Pretty simple actually.

    Stop guessing

Jerry Glandville also bought a ticket and reserved it for Elvis every single week.

Why don’t you read up on him and then re-think your, uh…”whole life”.

  • Anonymous

BTW I was just being a smart ass with my reply. Don’t take it seriously haha. I just realized that if you read that in a serious tone it was pretty offensive, it was just a joke bud.

  • virginiabronco

You will see….There is a sucker born ever minute and Manning is try to get them all.  Sad to see him captivate so many loyal Bronco fans though.

  • Anonymous

Which means absolutely nothing.  Craig Morton was comeback player of the year in 1977 at 34-35 years old with gimpy knees that made Joe Namath jealous.  He was one Jack Lambert hit away from hanging the cleats up as well.
Darryl Stingley was in his prime when one hit ended his career and shortened his life.

  • virginiabronco

Read the above comments again herc.  I absolutely know what he is thinking.  Just look at his career.  It isn’t hard to figure him out. He is using us Pure and simple.

  • Anonymous

He’s not hurting that’s for sure.

  • Anonymous

Do they live up to even being half-assed?

  • Anonymous

So what you’re saying is that if the Colts had never left Baltimore Manning would have never signed with the Colts.
Roll that turd in glitter all you want it is still a turd.

  • Anonymous

I like how you just purposefully ignore the point.

  • Anonymous

Do you realize how stupid it sounds when you say “I absolutely know what he is thinking”?

He’s never held out and never, ever bitched about his contract.  You’re ginning up a bunch of garbage based on your fantasy-land ideas.

You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

  • Anonymous

There really was no point. I watched your clip and I’ve seen it before. So what? That’s old school thinking and he never won a SB. Teams have to be willing to face the facts and rebuild. Teams that always think they are just a player or two away from something great end up being trapped in mediocrity for decades.

  • Anonymous

Why did he work out in Knoxville? Does this mean anything? Just wondering since his previous workouts were in Durham.

  • Anonymous

Where is Paul Kahursky saying that reports out of Denver are that they have “diminished their expectations to land Manning.”

  • Anonymous

Sorry I mean why is Paul Kahursky saying that? From what source?

  • Anonymous

Nevermind I found it. More speculation. #$%$

  • colorancher

Look at his history.. He followed the Titans for 12 years.. Like the report that came out of Tennessee Thursday night, that PM was in signing a contract that night..  There is a lot of rumors going around..  Wait for creditable sources..

  • colorancher

not sure? but I think his wife’s family is there and his wedding anniversary is today.. read that in an article.. we just wait and see..

You were a marine? No wonder you are a self entitled arrogant prick who thinks that by simply yelling louder than everyone else means you are right!

I was in the military too. Electronics Engineering for the Navy. Infantry you say? Apparently you weren’t/aren’t smart enough to be something besides a wanna-be bullet sponge. Anyways, enough of the personal insults.

Like I said, point out 1 single thing I said that is wrong, and when you do, you tell me exactly why it is wrong. You say that he can get out of a contract for life, tell me exactly how, and exactly the consequences of getting out of it. Tell me the exact parameters of a “contract for life.” While you’re at it, you show me where I ever said that he should play for free.

Peyton has exactly 3 teams he’s willing to play for… The Broncos, Titans, and 49ers. How can I be so sure he’d want to play for the 49ers? Because he worked out for them! He didn’t work out for the Dolphins, he didn’t work out for the Chiefs, he didn’t work out for anybody but the 49ers, Titans, and Broncos. Why? Because those are the 3 teams he’s chosen to be willing to play for. Why work out for anyone if you aren’t willing to play for them?

Again, instead of just simply shouting louder than everyone, how about you take a few deep breaths, relax, and then start debunking anything I’ve said with actual facts instead of saying I’m simply making shit up, all the while, you are making shit up in order to attempt to show that my statements are wrong. Pot, meet kettle! lol

  • King

I agree.  He doesn’t want to play in a cold weather climate when he is used to dome play.

He was just using Denver to drive up the price of his rapidly declining services.

  • virginiabronco

Jd, you never make a point.  I watched CM play.  I was a bronco fan then too.  He was not PM.  He wan’t being paid PM money.  We didn’t win a SB with CM.  What is your point?

You talk just to talk,  arguing both sides of every issue.

  • virginiabronco

Absolutely right. And that is how I know.  He isn’t going to change his routine this late in his career.  We are creatures of habit.  He won’t change to a cold weather, outdoor stadium.  Then throw in all the other issues, Elway, OL, WR’s, No way he plays here.  Anyone that thought he would was just wishful thinking.  And all this talk of winning a SB with a 36 yr old QB with a bad neck that hasn’t thrown a pass in over a yr is just fantasy land.  He will be lucky to finish the season no matter where he ends up, or should I say down. File this post herc for reference later this year.

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

No matter what Peyton does, after he makes his decision a lot of us (I won’t mention any names — and I may possibly be included) will look very silly.

  • virginiabronco

as usual, absolutely no point to your post. Manning has been used to a climate controlled environment.  He isn’t going to change now.  IF Greenbay had signed him, he might have gotten use to an outdoor environment and been just fine at this stage in his career considering other colder climates. You have heard of Brett Favre haven’t you?  Jets?  Never mind, too much for you to think about probably.

  • virginiabronco

He’s not going to be in Denver.  That’s what I am talking about.  Absolutely, positively NOT.  100%.  I am sorry that bothers you but that is the way it is.  He has been schooling the Bronco front office from day one.

  • Anonymous

Elway had gimpy legs in high school. lol. His Craig Morton post makes no sense. I think he likes to argue for the sake of arguing. I try to not let him ruffle my feathers too much, but sometimes, he hits that magical combination. lol.

He is right in the sense that everyone is 1 hit away, but what he is overlooking is the fact that Manning’s neck refused to heal correctly from the original 2 surgeries, which made the next one mandatory, and when that didn’t heal correctly, he needed another one. Because of that inability to heal properly, I have to agree with you that he is at an elevated risk of injury. He’s shown to be durable, but he’s also shown to not be able to heal properly, and in a timely fashion (like his bursa sac that refused to heal and damn near cost him his leg).

  • virginiabronco

Let me predict who is going to look silly.  It is going to be the same people that told us that Tebow was going to fail. The same people that told us  the Broncos were tossing the season by replacing Orton with Tebow.  Thats what they told us.  Now these same people tell us that we are going to the SB with a 36 yr old QB, with 4 neck surgeries who sat out all last year.  These so called well informed individuals got in wrong last year and have it wrong again.  Same ole same ole.  No Peyton in Denver.  Not going to happen.

  • Anonymous

Agreed 100%. Same people, same results…. Dead ass wrong! lol

  • Tom9798

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all.

It was March 17th, this day is 1974, when I flew to Stapleton with seven hundred dollars and my guitar.

The cab driver took me to a bar in Larimer Square.  It was called, ‘Your Father’s Mustache.’

They were handing out pitchers of green beer onto the sidewalk.
I took one and sat down on the curb, took a big swig, and told myself, “this is do-able, I’m home.”

  • Anonymous

     Haha, out-freaking-standing!!!

  • Tom9798

Thanks Pete . . . ‘May the wind be always at your back.’

  • Anonymous

Your point is what?  You made a stupid comment and got caught, again.

  • Anonymous

Sorry, I did not overlook anything.  Are you a medical doctor now too?

  • Jason huddleston

now that all of the good free agents are gone, this waiting for peyton manning leaves us with nothing and a pissed off quarterback when he agrees tom sign with frisco

  • Anonymous

Nope. I’m just simply a guy who knows his ass from a hole in the ground. ;)

If you spent half the time researching things as you do blindly commenting, you’d know these things.

  • Anonymous

And you aren’t man enough to be a Marine.  You’ll just have to live with that.  When you actually have a degree talk about smarts all you want.
Do you have a point in there somewhere?  You obviously did not read what I wrote and once again you off making things up because you have no argument.
Working out for any team in no way indicates that Manning will gladly sign a contract.  Your fellow clown has been claiming as much to anyone who will listen.
Just a small reminder genius.  You stated that Manning had made enough money already and now he was just being greedy.  Which on top of being stupid was just plain wrong. From your moronic commentary you need to take a few breaths and relax there squidly didly do.

  • Anonymous

So working out for the Broncos was just a ruse to drive up his price then.  How do you keep it all straight?  Did you not just try and argue that Manning would not work out for a team unless he was willing to sign with that team?

  • Anonymous

As usual you double down on stupid.  There was another QB in Baltimore that Manning would have had to follow.  Can you guess who that is?  Did you not make the retarded claim that Manning will never play in Denver because he does not want to follow Elway?  If you cannot grasp the concept presented that is your fault.

  • Anonymous

You keep being willfully ignorant, guy.

  • Anonymous

Apparently reading comprehension just isn’t your game JD… I know, let’s have a spelling contest! lol

Again, show me where I said he should play for free. Show me where anyone with ties to the NFL, be it any former players, commentators, radio personalities, front office executives, former GMs, scouts, “cap gurus”, former agents, etc say that him working out for the 49ers is just a ruse and that he has no intentions of playing for them. Show me just 1 person saying that besides you, Mr. know-it-all. From what I hear, read, and watch, Manning is absolutely serious about the 49ers. So basically, you are the only person in America that thinks you are right, all the while, vehemently (if you want, I can explain what that word means) proclaiming that everyone else is wrong.

You see, I’m actually speaking in as close to facts as this shrouded mystery will allow, whereas you are trying to disprove things, not through factual arguments, but through yelling louder than anyone else. I mean, to the uneducated reader, that might work, but to anyone who has read even 1 article, you will simply sound like a fool.

Again, instead of trying to yell louder than me and just keep saying I’m wrong, how about you post 1 shred of evidence to support your proclamations. Just 1. I beg you! 1 simple sentence with an actual fact that debunks anything I’ve said, and I’ll back off and say you proved me wrong. However, you won’t do that. Instead, you’ll simply say that I’m wrong and making things up. Do you see this song and dance we’re playing here? I’m giving as close to factual posts, while you are doing purely “smear campaign” tactics that have zero factual base to them. You must honestly think that if you say I’m wrong enough, then people will actually believe you, which is sad, and kinda pathetic. C’mon man, you’re better than that. Now is the time to prove it.

  • Anonymous

Dude, I’ve said this whole time that it’s between the Broncos and Titans. I simply said that maybe Manning was delaying his “decision” to see if a better suited team came along. It appears that it has in the 49ers. Maybe Manning is showing respect for Elway by working out for him, who knows. Your guess is as good as mine. I’m simply taking the information that is constantly coming to help shape my opinion. See, unlike you, I am smart enough to constantly take new information to reevaluate my stance. I don’t ignorantly dig my heels into the ground and proclaim that I’m the be-all, end-all to the world’s knowledge base. If everyone did things like you, we’d all still think the world was flat.

I’m simply using updated information to stay current on this situation. Instead of using an archaic stance with outdated information (like you do), I evolve my opinions so that I don’t look like a complete moron. I mean, if you were a dolphin fan, you’d probably be telling their entire fan base that they are dead wrong in thinking that Manning wont sign with them because you are too damn stubborn to keep up with ever changing information. lol.

  • Anonymous

Being ignorant is thinking your point is proved with a random youtube video of someone else that has nothing to do with anything.

  • Jeff

Did he ever have intentions to sign with the Broncos or was he using us for start a  bidding war ?  either way if he wasn’t he could have easily said ” Its too cold to play in denver ,and sorry bout your luck please try again!” Well now what whos our leading free agent QB

You call that research?  Simpleton would be more accurate.

    ..

Well, Brady Quinn is now a Chief, along with Peyton Hillis. Eddie Royal is a Charger. Apparently the teams in our own division couldn’t wait to snag our players. I wonder if this is because they know something our front office doesn’t? Or if is simply a case of our scraps simply taste better than their entree?

  • Anonymous

Whatever you say “don’t argue with me because I’m an accounting major”.
You made the statement that you did not know the NFL or CBA rules regarding contracts yet went proclaimed that you were positive that Titans could out cash anybody.  How do you make that proclamation when you don’t know the rules and you’re more than willing to ignore the salary cap.  You made the ignorant statement that Bud Adams had more cash on hand therefore he could outbid Bowlen with up front cash.  Again moron there is this little thing called the salary cap that gets in the way.  Again you dismissed that because it did not fit  what you ignorantly call research.  You proclaimed Manning to be greedy because he was taking too long to sign a contract.  Where are your facts to back that up?
Don’t ever accuse anyone of lacking reading comprehension or yelling again.  You continually make things up, change the subject and bang out endless and pointless comments.  You have the longest posts here and anyone who disagrees with you is yelling?  How about you back up your claims before you start making stupid accusations.  Before you comment on anyone’s level of reading comprehension go find a dictionary and look up the words fact and opinion.
