Manning to Sign with Denver Rumors Heavy This Morning

1:25 MST: Mike Klis corrects his proposed contract numbers.  It’s now a lot higher than initially stated:

  11:50MST Mike Klis of the Denver Post has just released financial numbers for the contract the Broncos are offering Manning today.  This is all according to his source.

  Interesting round of updates.  10:35 MST.  See the following tweets.  There is “circumstantial evidence” according Kent Sommers of the AZ Republic that the Cards have been informed they are out of the running for Manning.  Now this new report from Steve O’Reilly from the Skinny Post is saying Denver will try to sign Mike Wallace if they can secure Manning giving him another target.  Broncotalk’s Ian Henson made the case for Wallace in Denver here.  The rumor mill just keeps churning.

Early this morning on the Evans and Klatt show at Sports Radio 104.3 a rumor came up that the Denver front office along with John Fox was seen celebrating long into the night at Shanahan’s Steakhouse.  This was coming from 104.3’s “source” at Shanahan’s, one can only assume that it was an employee.  They also stated a quote from John Fox that “Tomorrow will be a good day.” Skip ahead a few hours and it is now being reported that Pat Bowlen’s private jet is being prepared to leave at 8:30 mountain from the Centennial airport and is headed for Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina.  (Manning’s been working out at Duke University)  Then comes Vic Lombardi’s tweet that he is confirming that Elway is scheduled to be on board the flight. Michelle Beisner is stating that it’s to watch Manning work out.  Stay tuned Bronco fans, we’ll keep you posted.

    Lombardi is stating that this will be more of a physical than a workout, but yes either way.

    Sweet!  this means a minimum of one superbowl in the bag and potentially 2 more before Pey-Pey retires.
    FEX will get us some more defensive help, not that we need much, the offense is set, no one can stop PM’s 5-10 slant with our power #1 running game!

    I suspect that if Manning does sign with the Broncos that it will be due to the time Manning spent with Stokely.

    Really?  Reality check, he has had his receivers and a good running game for 14 years and has 1 count em, 1 ring.  He will improve the offense but let’s be a bit realistic here.

     Yes, it’s being reported that he’s going to work out for TN too, but date/time has not yet been announced.

    Hello…we aren’t getting Pey-Pey to be runner-up to the chiefs or oakland for the next 4 years, we can do that without manning.
    It’s all in time with Peyton to win now and it will happen, Fox/Rio are superb coaches who know how get the victories as they proved last year. 
    We’re getting a HOF player everyone wants, I’m not worried a bit.

    If Manning was going to workout for the Titans I think he would have already. If he gets back on the plane with the Broncos headed for Denver, I think we’ve got it locked up.

    That bothers me.  I am hoping if they do work out for him it is soon.  I was hoping they would have a decision one way or another today, but they havn’t schedule TN for a work, who knows how long this is going to take.

    I think we need a solid TE.  Who knows though.  I don’t know how many times I screamed for them to throw the ball to J Thomas because he was wide open.  Maybe he will turn out to be a stud if he has Manning throwing to him.

    The name Peyton Manning has never appeared on the main pages of DenverBroncos.com.

    By contrast, on TennesseeTitans.com, his name is all over the place.

    What this means is open to question, but to say the least, the Broncos are playing it cool.

    Manning throwing to Wallace, DT and Decker?  Oh man that would be unstoppable.  If I understand it correctly we would have to give up our first round draft choice to sign Wallace, right?

    wallace does mean the first rounder.  he was given the first round tender from the steelers to my knowledge.  i believe that they also have the right to match any contract offer we give wallace, but am not 100% on that.

    Wallace is well worth our 1st rounder…  Never know what your going to get that low int eh 1st round anyway

     If we sign PM,Wallace, and McClain, I would give up a first and second pick.. I believe that Wallace is worth a 1st rnd pick.. But he will want some big money as well..Where did the Wallace info come from? I thought he was interested in NE? What about Lloyd? He said he would come back..

    I hope manning does sign with denver,Tebow gets traded,Manning gets hurt in first game and Denver has nothing or nobody to turn to.All those fans putting up Billboards in denver and Horsetooth Elway doesn’t care about the fans at all and he will(big ego and all)get his way.Manning should do nothing but retire,than risk a life threatening injury(4 neck surgeries in a year).He could be a QB coach for any team he chooses.But let Elway play boss and sign Manning,tick off all denver fans(if they have any real ones).Because if they turn their back on Tebow after the circus they put on last year just to get Manning then all the respect for them is out the window.

     Because Tebow couldn’t get hurt in the first game next season.. Any team that has a starter go down is in trouble. I don’t think Tebow stays around long even if Manning doesn’t sign..

    So you are saying that if somebody wanted Tebow over Orton, they couldn’t possibly want Manning over Tebow?  Or better yet, if the team brings in another QB other than some scrub to compete against Tebow and I applaud the decision then I am not a Bronco fan?  Elway had to put up with trade rumors, 1st round QB picks, and a head coach he fought with so why does Tebow get a pass on having to be a Pro QB and all that comes with it?  It’s actually fans such as yourself that will force the Broncos to get rid of Tebow, I like the kid but Manning is hands down the better QB and I want my Broncos to have the best talent possible.
