Safety Brandon Meriweather to visit Denver

Free agent safety Brandon Meriweather will visit the Denver Broncos on Tuesday evening, according to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter.  Meriweather, 28, spent last season with the Chicago Bears.

Safety remains a position of need for Denver and Meriweather would help add depth and experience to the Broncos’ secondary.  A former first round draft pick, Meriweather spent the first four years of his career in New England before joining the Bears last off-season.

In other free agency buzz, former Broncos cornerback Perrish Cox has signed with the San Francisco 49ers and free agent wide receiver Eddie Royal is expected to sign with the Washington Redskins.

    Interesting about Royal.  Makes sense he would want to play for Shanny again.  He’s utilization has gone down over the years, but so has his play.

    Meriweather is a dirt-bag.  Unfortunately though, he’s probably the best available option…

     Agreed. I would prefer that we stay away, but I’m not in charge. I guess the best we can hope for is to not overpay for him and go after another Safety to hedge our bet on him.

    That would be the preferred method of shoring up that position. Not sure what went on between his ears last year, because he was completely lost on the field. Hopefully DelRio straightens him out, because if he can, then the Broncos can pencil him in for the next 10 years.

    i say we sign Dallas Clark. Tight Ends careers last longer than wide outs and he would be a good mentor for the young TE’s regardless if PM signs with Denver
