Daily Links – Tim Tebow gets John Elway’s endorsement

We linked to the quote yesterday, but its significance may have been missed: John Elway gave Tim Tebow as high an endorsement as he could yesterday, a move that may seem surprising giving his tepid praise of the quarterback in the past.

“Tim Tebow’s not going anywhere,” Elway said. “I mean, he’s going to be a Bronco and we’re going to do everything we can and hopefully he’s that guy.”

My take: I’d rather not worry about it at all, especially during the season, and even more during a critical playoff push. Do you think Bill Belichick is going to talk about whether Tom Brady is the future of his franchise, no matter the circumstance? No. Let’s focus on Buffalo and let our offseason do the Tebow-commitment talking.

    I agree with you Monty in that I would rather not have it talked about. Being that he was getting asked that question every day and that Tebow was getting asked that question a lot, I think it was said to hopefully put a stop or at least slow down the constant chatter so the guys can focus on their job.

    Either way, I hope it accomplishes just that.

    I’m afraid it won’t.  There is still too much equivocation in his words. 

    If Elway can’t be definitive in his comments, he should stay quiet.  He wants to leave himself “wiggle room”, and that creates more controversy.  He needs more coaching from Patrick Smyth before he goes on the record.

    Yep really no point to have said anything! I will ALWAYS be a John fan but he isn’t perfect and makes me wonder some times…lol.

    I’m not a religious person but I find it appalling that it’s fun to take cheap shots at people who do have a faith, take a stand for what they believe and genuinely make the world a better place.

    They should go make fun of Cromartie and his 8 kids with 8 women.

    I don’t think its a cheap shot Trog just a spoof. Like I said I thought it was pretty funny. And also think its great the Tim stands up for what he believes in, I’ve said that a number of times.

    I found this to be funny on the same level as that guy that makes up spoof songs about players and the one he made when Orton left and when Shanny got the ax. Just humor I think.

    Oh and yes if that song guy or SNL made a spoof of that it would hilarious Unfortunately no one cares about Cromartie ~shrug~…lol

    I hear ya. You know after the loss last Sunday, after the game, Tebow immediately spent his time taking a girl out who had some kind of cancer or tumor or something that almost cost her life.

    It just rubs me the wrong way that it’s supposed to be good humor to make fun of someone who is actually out there making a positive difference in this world for people. 

    This world is hard enough on people without putting good people down or poking fun at them. We should be celebrating guys like him.

    Everyone has seen this skit but how many people heard what he did after the NE game?

    How many people know that Braylon Edwards just gave his ENTIRE salary away this year to 79 kids so they could go to college?

    Why is this stupid skit going viral yet NOBODY is talking about that?

    Our priorities are so screwed up in this world.

    Sorry, I’ll stop ranting now.

    ~BIG SMILE~ No brother you have no need to apologize (for sure not to me). I dig where you are coming from for sure. I had no idea that Braylon did that and think its pretty awesome. Especially since he has had his troubles and chooses to give back (in an uncommon huge way).

    I actually think Tebow gets a great deal of praise for how he is and what he does. Most all people that are in the “lime light” so to speak get spoofed because people care about them in one way or the other and as I noted if any one really cared about Cromartie or thought he was worthy of any thought he’d get some. I do remember how much Carruth got it though…

    Any way, I see both sides for sure and think its good that these guys get the praise they deserve! I’m not near as uptight as some here seem to think…lol.
