What started as a school project, literally living on the small box in my Computer Science professor’s office, has become my favorite hobby. More than that, it’s grown into one of the biggest Denver Broncos sites, and one of the largest network-independent sports team fan blogs, on the web. In five years, I’m damn proud of what this little website has become.

But we’re not satisfied. We have big, big plans for BroncoTalk in the year or two to come… things that will change the scope of our blog and, we hope to some degree, the way you receive Denver football news and analysis. We hope to become your preeminent source for Broncos news and analysis, and we’re taking steps now to see that hope come to fruition.

In the meantime we’re simply thrilled to be celebrating five years of covering the Broncos. We’re thrilled to have spent it with you.

Thanks so very much for reading, commenting, keeping us honest, and sharing your thoughts. Without you we are truly nothing. Without you, we are the tree that falls in the forest with no one to hear it. Without you we wouldn’t be at all.

And without you we wouldn’t be looking forward to the next five, ten, fifteen years of BroncoTalking as we are so very much now. On the day before Thanksgiving, thank you for making BT everything it is now and for shaping its future.

And this is my 500th comment!  (Since moving to Disqus)

Happy Birthday BT and congrats to Kyle et al for their stunning work over the last 5 years.

What was the first post?  Was it something about the weather that turned into a discussion about Tebow????

  • flbronc

Thanks for your time and effort Kyle (and all the other guys who contribute), I very much enjoy the blog!

Congratulations Monty and the BT crew.
Love the site and the regular crew of bloggers that always add to insight to every topic.

I also offer my congrats to Monty and the entire BT team!  Great work and great site!  I wish you another 50 though I won’t be around to celebrate that one with you!  GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Whohoo, Happy B-Day, BT!

The first post was called “Accountability in Denver”, if I recall. It was written a day after Jake Plummer sucked it up on a Thursday night game against the Chiefs in 2006. I was mad that Mike Shanahan was benching other players (can’t remember who now, but he was), but not holding Plummer accountable for weeks of terrible play.

5 years to the day later, Kyle Orton gets released as the Broncos commit to Tim Tebow for 2011. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The first 6 or so months of BT were lost in the conversion from my professor’s machine to our own URL. I have the posts in a hard XML format on an old hard drive, one day I’ll try to convert them.

    Happy Birthday Guys!

Now that the Bronco World is down to ONE KYLE, the Broncos made the correct choice and kept the right one.

Looking forward to a great future…

Congrats to Monty and the rest of the staff writers, this is by far the best Bronco blog out there!  Keep up the good work and I hope you guys can keep doing this for another 50 years.

Yes JD. For those who don’t know, Jonathan Douglas was the first BT staffer. He had his own blog, MyDenverObsession.com, which we merged over to BT a year into things. If you look at the BT archives for 2007 you’ll see a lot of overlap on the same news posts (some from BT, some from MDO).

He’s not active on BT or anywhere with the Broncos anymore (though he’s always welcome here); we keep in touch through email and Facebook.

    Hey, Herc!

I took some time off during the Josh-Era, and have been just too busy (we now have three adopted kids all under 10) to keep myself informed enough to post regularly. I read BT all the time and promote it to all my fellow TN Bronco fans. :)

He was a good guy.  First broncos blogger I ever had contact with.

That’s good on you for adopting kids, dude.  Good luck to you.

It sure was fun with we all had our sites running, wasn’t it?  I used to love yours – I still miss your totally profane take on things!  lol
