Tebowing Craze Goes Viral; Are You Doing it?

Earlier today, Monty posted in the Daily Links about the new “Tebowing” craze.  Since then, the movement has gone viral.

Per Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, the website, starting by Jared Kleinstei, has had over half a million hits — and counting.

“Love him or hate him, but Tebow fever is contagious,” Kleinstein said. “It’s a lot of fun, and that’s why this worked so well.”

I wasn’t sure what to make of “Tebowing,” it seems as if half of the people doing it are mocking Tebow and prayer.  But Kleinstein says that is not the case.

“Kleinstein said the initial picture and the subsequent blog and website were truly meant as a tribute to Tebow. He understands it could be viewed by some as mocking the quarterback, but that was certainly not the intent.”

Even quarterback Tim Tebow himself chimed in and endorsed it:

As Thursday went on, just about everyone started “Tebowing,” even former Broncos offensive guard and current ESPN annalist Mark Schlereth got into the action.

    When all of the roster do it after the first score on Sunday then it’ll be funny.  Apart from Kyle Orton obviously.

    Today I’m Hillis-ing.  The art of getting a slight hamstring strain and not turning up for work and still getting paid.  AND still being loved by everyone.

    Not quite.  The Incomplete chant is certainly better than this “tebowing” crap.  Tebowing is as bad as Tebow as a QB.

    I love it. After our DL yesterday, Denver sports stations picked up on it, the Denver Post added a few blog posts about it, players did it… felt good to be ahead of the curve.

    And whether BT really contributed as much to getting the word out in Denver as I think it might have, it still feels awesome to be able to point to the DL and say, “See, we were first.”
