Two years after becoming one of the first controversial draft choices of the Josh McDaniels era, tight end Richard Quinn is no longer a Denver Bronco.

The Broncos reached an injury settlement with the third-year player and waived him from their injured reserve list Friday, the team announced on Twitter. The settlement voids Quinn’s contract, making him a free agent, and he can sign with any team (per our understanding). He earlier cleared waivers and was placed on IR Tuesday.

Quinn, a blocking tight end, notched one reception and 11 special teams tackles in his two years with the Broncos.

Quinn must not feel the injury warrants a death sentence to his season, and the Broncos aren’t willing to wait around since he was on the roster bubble anyway. No one was willing to take on his rookie contract when he hit waivers Monday; let’s see if he can land a new team and a new deal.

Other than Mareno and Ayers will anyone be left from that draft?

They're about it. As Gary Miller put it, one of the worst 2nd round picks ever.

  • Joshua Manning

It really crazy to think that the best players that ACTUALLY been productive from the Josh McD era was late round picks Perrish Cox & Syd'quan Thompson.

Words can't express just how awful McDaniels did with those two drafts.  The Broncos would have been better off just having an intern turn in draft picks based on Mel Kiper's big board for those two years.

We don't need Gary 'who' Miller to state the obvious to make your point.

So glad an adult is in charge now.

i was actually a big fan of his 2nd draft. I thought (and still think) D. Thomas will be a beast. Walton in the 3rd was a steal. And Syd is just awesome (INT's included) because his name is Syd'Quan!

I agree that Josh was a bum but when will people on this site go after Xanders. He is the worst GM of all time. If you look around the NFL we have about 15 really good GM. Good with the cap, draft, free agents, and coaches. Xanders has failed in all of them. It's a mess right now. Only way to get better is to get rid of Xanders,Tebow, and Moreno. I can't even look at a pic of Xanders anymore. It looks like we could go 9-7 this year. So what. This team is so far away from a SUPER BOWL.

Hi Joshy! Hows the hoodie ?

  • Nisse

both JD walton and zane beadles have made bigger impact than those 2.

but none of these where part of the 2009 draft.

  • Joshua Manning

Oops! I forgot about those two guys. JD Walton and Zane Beadles were BEASTS!!!
