Elway Tweet on Rahim Moore

Via John Elway on Twitter the Broncos have also come to an agreement with 2nd round selection Rahim Moore.  The Safety out of UCLA was ranked at the top of the boards for his position by many in 2011.  A welcome addition to get all of the top flight rookies added to training camp early.

Moore (6′1″, 190lbs.) led the NCAA in interceptions with 10 in 2009 at just 20-years old. He was named captain of the Bruins in 2010 and continues to be regarded as a very high character prospect.

Also lost in the shuffle of morning news, the Broncos have a contract in place for their other safety selection Quinton Carter out of Oklahoma.  The news was clarified as all the dust settles with rookies coming in to headquarters for signing.  The only 1st year player left to sign is Middle Linebacker Nate Irving.  An agreement for him is expected shortly.

Carter (6′1″, 208 lbs.), a 2010 All American who can play either strong or free safety he collected 88 tackles and four interceptions to finish out the year on the 2010 Jim Thorpe Watch List.

Oh boy…East ain't gonna be happy they resigned Jones.

  • anthony33

We are getting smoked in the FA market.  Orton not yet traded and value diminishes everyday. DT's Cofield, gone.  Johnson, gone.  Maybin, gone  Haynesworth (wouldn't want him anyway), gone.  RB's
    Williams, gone.  Bush, gone.

So… was the plan to lose out on every player that could come in a make a difference.  Xanders and Elway appear to be getting their asses kicked.

NE lands Haynesworth and Ochocinco today.  Jets resign Holmes and working on Asomhah (sp).

FA is about having brains in your front office.  Still early I know.  All the dust has not settled, I know.  But man, even Carolina, Foxes last gig, is kicking our ass for a team that didn't spend a dime last year.

  • crazykid

One of the reasons Carolina is kicking our ass is BECAUSE they didnt spend a dime last year. As Birdman, Lil Wayne, and Drake say… “I got money to blow-o-o-o”.

  • cj

weve blown money for a good decade now with shanny and Mcdumbass recently. trading orton saves up 9 million. Jabar trade is like 2 i think. after we restructure dawks deal i think we could get mebane. But we would have to trade Orton. which looks like it isnt happening now

Orton kicked Tebows ass 2day.. so trade em or noot????????

i say screw it and trade him. If Tebow blows it were that much closer to a top qb next year

  • flbronc

while i can sympathize with your frustration on lack of movement, i cannot criticize the front office for not making any of the moves you brought up.  a good front office doesnt make moves for making moves sake.

    here's my take:

bush- we need an every down back.  new orleans traded him because he was not an every down back.  williams- i am sure that we tried to sign him, but the deal he got was way beyond what we should pay for a 28 year old injury plagued rb.  lost a bidding war and i am ok with that.

not quite sure which jonhson you are referring to, but charles johnson is a de not a dt.  dont think maybin was ufa this year.  haynesworth i'd pass on.  coefield, yea we lost out on him.

so the jets got a wr, but it was their own guy who took less to stay.  that's our deepest position anyway. the pats got one too, and a dt you agree we didnt want.

should we cave and trade orton to miami for their fifth rounder?  not in my book, i'd rather play him a year then let him go for nothing. let tebow develop another year rather than ship orton out for nothing.  if mcnabb was worth two sixths, orton is worh a heck of a lot more than a fifth.  it's not our fault that miami wont give us what we deem fair.

if anything i am impressed with the front office not acting out of desperation and throwing too much money at marginal players, aging players or people that we'd have to convert on the front line or giving into public pressure to make a trade for less than market value.

several players that can make a difference are still out there.  mebane for one. muir is another, although a step down from him.  plus more cuts will come as cap casualties, and we might pick someone up there.  everyone expected a league wide frenzy and it hasnt happened.  teams like carolina are spending like crazy because they have to- they have to spend like 50 million more just to reach the salary floor.  you can't be mad that we are losing players to them when they are paying much higher than market by necessity.

  • anthony33

Point taken.  Hope it all works out in the end.  I was anticipating something different then what we're seeing and a bit dissapointed.  That being said, our track record on FA's has never been that good with the exception of a couple of players.

As far as Oton looking better than Tebow in practice… who cares.  It's about how you perform in the 4th quarter when you're down by 10 points.  And we all know how that's gone.

  • flbronc

point taken on tebow/orton. i think tebow is the intermediate future, long term not sure- but orton isnt long term either.  just dont want to get rid of him for nothing just to be rid of him.  i honestly think tebow can use another season learning, and not having to be 'the guy'.

i am dissapointed too, but the fact of the matter is we have a huge need at dt, and there really are not many big name dt's out there.  certainly not ones to throw a ton of money at.  i'd rather save the cap space and flexibility for the future.  lets get a couple serviceable guys in here for a reasonable price and go from there.  right now it's about flexibility for the future.

    Two words WHOLLY SHIT

    look at Franklin

    Boomer Sooner.
'Q' will knock your *ick in the dirt! Love the pick

  • MrEast

    You are correct sir.

  • anthony33

Isn't that Ryan Harris's number?  Now that dude is someone I'd like protecting me if I were a QB.  Wow.

  • cj

makes zane beadles look like a little girl. Especially with that hair

  • bronco_dog87

Teams are built through the draft… not FA.  Denver should only make a few moves at the DL positions.

  • stav

woah. That dude looks like something bioengineered. Thats one big em-effer.

  • stav

agreed. What, does anyone expect us to come back and win 9 games this year? I sure as hell don't. I'll be happy with 7 to 8, and then go back in the draft, gets some more guys, and come back in 2012-2013 with 9-10 wins. I dont care what anyone says, if the Fish wont give up a high 3rd rounder ATLEAST for Orton, keep him. Screw them, its ridiculous to offer a 4th for him as he'd automatically start for them. As much as i like Tebow, I wouldnt mind seeing him take one more year to learn before starting.

  • SivNiz

I just pee'd my pants.  Dude looks MEAN!

  • td30ismpv

the Phins just signed Moore from Carolina, not sure if Orton is still on their radar, maybe it was a leverage move?

  • td30ismpv

Now we picked up Willis McGahee, tough runner between the tackles, little old but IMO better than Moreno.
