Forgive us, BT Family.  After watching a game like that, thoughts of suicide and never blogging again run through my head, and probably the rest of the staff as well.  That’s not a good excuse for not giving you a thorough review of last night’s game, however, so I apologize.

On the opening drive of the game at Qualcomm Stadium, the Denver Broncos drove 69 yards and took a 7-0 lead after a four-yard Touchdown run by Knowshon Moreno.  San Diego would respond with 35 unanswered.

After consecutive 3-and-outs by the Chargers and Broncos following Denver’s score, the Chargers faked a punt.  A pass from Punter Mike Scifres to Mike Tolbert went for 28 yards and gave San Diego the ball on Denver’s 31 yard-line.  That play took all the life out of the Broncos.

Denver’s offense proceeded to self destruct, with the offensive line playing especailly poor, allowing five sacks while being penalized multiple times.  On defense, it was just as ugly.  The Broncos could not stop the Chargers passing or rushing attacks.  San Diego Quarterback Phillip Rivers passed for 233 yards and four Tochdowns, and running back Tolbert rushed 25 times for 111 yards and a score.

Eleven minutes into the 4th quarter, Kyle Orton hit Brandon Lloyd for a 13-yard Touchdown, making the score 14-35.  It was too big of a hole for Denver to dig out of, though.

After a loss like that, it looks like the Broncos are out of all Playoff contention, unless of course the whole AFC West falls apart.

“Obviously, when you put yourself in this situation, you’re going to need a lot of things to fall your way down the stretch if you want to continue to fight to qualify for the playoffs,” admitted Head Coach Josh McDaniels after the game.

The Broncos will now return home and face the St. Louis Rams at home in week 12.  After the defeat, Outside linebacker Jason Hunter spoke for the whole team when he said, “We just have to come back with a positive attitude and get ready for St. Louis.”

    Suiside is painless.

  • herc_rock

Seriously though, what a terrible game. 6-10 is going to be tough to get to.

  • areferee

    Spell Check:

    (Paragraph 1): suicide

    (4): especially and Touchdowns

  • http://paintingdenver.net/ Painting Contractor

What I could not believe is no blockers on offense!
To win games, you need defense working equally as efficient as the offense.

  • Danno

OK…It is official…We suck and we are going to get a top 10 draft pick. It has to be defense so here is the list:

    DT, Nick Fairly, Auburn

    OLB, Akeem Ayers, UCLA

    OLB, Robert Quinn, UCLA

    DE, Da'Quan Bowers, Clemson

    DL, Marcel Darcels, Alabama

    NT, Jerrell Powe, Ole Miss

    DE, Adrian Clayborn, Iowa

I really like Adrean Clayborn from Iowa…We could maybe can some other picks to move back a little in the first round to get him. Your thoughts?

  • Kromag

How embarrassing will it be if the Broncos lose to last year's worst team the Rams, maybe Denver is this year's worst team

  • http://broncoszone.blogspot.com/ Jon

I should have worded that differently. I don't really consider suicide, and its a real serious thing that I shouldn't joke about (which I wasn't but it may have come across that way). Anyone who is considering suicide should seek help

  • TheTroglodyte

Good list. I'd dig it if we got Nick Fairley. Jamal Williams is simply too old to be an effective starter and a 3-4 starts with the DT. Besides that he would be really easy to trade for 3rd string TE in 2012!

  • TheTroglodyte

I'm just not sure about that areferee. I think once Dan Gronkowski starts seeing more playing time we could really right this ship!

  • mobley

This was a difficult game to watch. I live in SD and I can't stand watching Rivers but it is clear that he is a gifted quarterback. That said where was our rush last night? I miss Dumerville like never before. I was at last years Monday night game and Dumerville was the difference maker, along with Eddie Royal. The game I just say was a classic case of being dominated on the line of scrimmage, in both directions. The second half looked like the Chargers D was starting each play 2 yards into our backfield. We really looked scared out there.

  • Mobley

    Saw, that is.

  • areferee

    lol…

    You're the best, Monkey-Man!

I want to be excited for the draft but I know Josh will just mess it up again. Let's say we end up with the 5th overall, he'll trade down to 9th, then to 17th, then to 27th and then he'll trade the 27th, and the rest of our picks to move back up to 23rd only to draft a player that'll be as worthless as Tebow, what a great mind our wonderful coach has.

  • areferee

Say hi to all my friends on Bacon Street and Narragansett Avenue in Ocean Beach.

  • herc_rock

    Aww, you fixed it.

  • areferee

NO NO…not another Ayers and Quinn…LOL

  • http://twitter.com/DantePakistan Michael Land

Guess I should have posted this here:

The only good thing form this game is that NoGain is getting a little bit closer to having me to call him Knowshon again.

  • TheTroglodyte

    HAHAHA!

  • BroncoMan24

I really hope we have a season next yr. Not that we really have anything to look forward to besides the draft, but I hate to go without a year of football. This was a depressing game. It appears that our game last week against KC wasn't a sign of things to come. I know SD seems to have our number for the most part (with the exception of a couple games), but we looked like an expansion team with no chemistry or idea of what we want to do. I really wanted McD to succeed, but I don't see it happening. Unfortunately, if we do get rid of him, I believe Tebow will be right behind him when the next coach is hired. I think we need to get a defensive coach on our next round of hires if McD is fired. It just seems like we are able to pick up talented players on defense via the draft, but without proper direction they end up wasted picks and being traded away or released (i.e Alphonso Smith).

  • coskibum

All I can say is McNugget strikes again…

    Time to clean house!

  • Jackfnburton

Whatever. I say give McDaniels one more season to do something with the top ten draft pick we're going to get, and see where that leads.

  • Bensonbertjr

    your stupid

  • Crwolff

As much as it hurts me to say this, he will get another season. On a positive note: he won't be able to dismantle a team that has already been dismantled…. It really could't get much worse, could it?

  • crwolff

    Dear Dan Reeves:

I am so sorry for cussing you back in the day. I did not appreciate you like I should have. Will you be my friend again? And is there any chance you would be willing to come out of retirement? Even though our players would still suck, at least you would bring class to the sideline.

    Your friend,

    Charlie

  • mauibroncofan

The team has no leadership and no heart. McD is a great cheerleader but cannot rally the troops when things start going south. They do not appear to believe in him. Keep him next yr as we wont be playing much of a season and it is hard to screw up a top 5 draft choice. Then Shanny's contract will be up and it will only cost 1 yr on McD's

  • http://twitter.com/DantePakistan Michael Land

Can we have a mulligan and trade Josh straight up for Raheem Morris?

  • http://twitter.com/dxmanning Joshua Manning

    Like Kenny McKinley?

  • dat broncos boi

i think we need to get rid of slow ass B. Dawkins,R.Hill,A.Goodman and keep champ and cox for DBs. i think Mcbath can start and be pretty good and we need to get another safety or move champ to safety and get another CB. I like joe mayes,R.Ayers, dumerville, and DJ williams and the whole DL gots to go

  • BroncoMan24

If McBath can stay healthy, I agree he could do well, but that is a big question.

  • BroncoMan24

Tyson Jackson and Reggie Bush both come to mind, but I am hoping you are right.

  • 12508

Brian Xanders has to go 1st!!! Josh is the coach but this team has very few good players. We need a big time QB. If Tebow is not the answer we need to admit it now. Brian Xanders is a clown and the sooner we fix his mistakes the sooner we can become a team with a real shot.

  • TheTroglodyte

Jamarcus Russel, Ryan Leaf, Tony Mandarich, Aundray Bruce, Brian Bosworth, Andre Ware, Blair Thomas, Steve Etman, Quentin Coryatt, David Klingler, Joey Harrington, Rick Mirer, Eric Curry, HEath Shuler, Trev Alberts, Ki-Jana Carter, Lawrence Philips, Akili Smith, Curtis Enis, Bruce Pickins, Charles Rogers, Peter Warrick, Reggie Bush… the list goes on and on

  • TheTroglodyte

Unfortunately it appears to be primarily Josh calling the shots on personnel moves. At least that is what has been reported by a couple reporters and inside sources.

  • Nisse

with 5 2nd round picks we could get lucky.
one top 5 pick wont fix this team.

  • crazykid

Robert Quinn is actually UNC, but yea, good list. No way we'll draft Clayborn, he has “character issues”. Marcell Darius would be my dream pick, w/ Powe in the 2nd round.

  • crazykid

if you have nothing nice to say, dont say it at all. my mother taught me good virtues lol!

  • Ic_bronco7

Like i said at the Beginning of the season and all the stupid people didnt believe me.. denver last in the division…and its all becase of the clown of Mcdumbass hope they keep loosing so we can get a good coach that knows what his doing..

  • anthony33

McD is sounding like a coach that has been guaranteed a 3rd year.

This team is now amoung the worst 3 teams with Carolina and Arizona. I don't include Detorit or St Louis because those teams have drafted well over the past 2 years and have hired good coahes. Both are on the upswing. Buffalo continues to play their ass off in every game.

What Denver, Carolina and Arizona have in common is there is little hope for improvement and all three are still falling. We do not have the talent, the management to acquire the right talent and the coaching is suspect at best. Not a good place to be.

  • Guest

Bosworth was a supplemental draft pick. Four others weren't top-five either.

  • TheTroglodyte

I'm not sure what your point is? So four of them I thought of were picked 6th? Well that changes everything :p

Also Bosworth skipped the regular draft because the Colts and Bills drafted 2nd and 3rd and he was projected to go to one of them and he put them on his list of teams he said he would not play for.

In fact the Colts even offered him a contract before the draft trying to coerce him into the draft because they wanted him so bad.

So you can really consider Bosworth drafted #2 overall if that makes you feel better.

  • Guest

The point is that the guy was talking about top 5 picks. You listed a whole bunch of guys, including Bosworth, who weren't top five picks.

  • Kbryant3019

we suck!and they might get beat by the rams.they are a different team.if they went to London & got spanked by the 49 ers who knows what will happen.because playing at mile high since Mcdaniel's took over means no home field advantage.I remember growing up we all way's gave people the blue's at mile high cats never wanted to come here and play.look how times have change.

  • TheTroglodyte

So 4 of the 23 were picked #6. And Bosworth was picked in the top 5. You can try to spin it anyway you want while you hide behind “Guest” but the fact still stands that top 5 picks are never a given.

Roughly 58% of all players picked in the top 5 make at least 1 pro bowl. Considering the money and hype that goes with a top 5 draft pick, that means 4 out of every 10 are a virtual bust.

  • Guest

Was the guy talking about top five picks or not? Next time pick guys that were actually top 5 picks.

Also, Andre Ware went 7th overall.
