The Denver Broncos announced on Monday that they have released running back Justin Fargas and designated cornerback Tony Carter as waived/injured.

Fargas was with the Broncos for less than one month, having signed as a free agent on Aug. 11. Carter spent the past two offseasons with the club, having joined the Broncos as a college free agent on April 27, 2009.

Fargas had one carry for four yards in very limited action late in the Broncos’ 34-17 preseason victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday. RB LenDale White got the start while Lance Ball received the bulk of the carries in the second half.

Carter spent the first 14 weeks of the 2009 season on the Broncos’ practice squad before making his NFL debut in Oakland in December.

These players come from the two positions, in our opinion, that are least settled when it comes to determining the Broncos’ 53-man roster, so it’s not surprising the Broncos are moving ahead with thinning the numbers to get a better look at those that remain. Assuming Carter clears waivers, he will be placed on Injured Reserve.

Anyone else notice that Troy Polamalu is a step slower after his knee surgery? Good news for offenses facing the Steelers.

In addition, Ben DateRapeburger should be glad that he gets 4 – 6 games off because his swiss cheese offensive line is going to get him killed.

It is looking more and more like the Steelers are slipping.

Did anyone else see Lance ball in pass protection? Kids a fricken wrecking ball, no pun intended. With Mor and Buck nicked up I feel alot better with Ball next in line when it comes to pass protection, White didn't look half as good picking up the blitz and Fargus just hasn't looked good at all. Maybe all that getting pounded on in Oakland finally caught up with him.

Anybody else think Carter get claimed off waivers by the Ravens???

I think the following players do not make the team: Brady Quinn, Kyle Eckel, Bruce Hall, Len Dale White, Alric Arnett, Britt Davis, Kenny McKinley, Brandon Stokley, Riar Geer, Nathan Overbay, Kory Sperry, Paul Duncan, Mitch Berger, Kevin Alexander, Jammie Kirlew, Johhnny Williams, Worrell Williams, Vernon Fox, Kyle McCarthy, Cassius Vaugn, D-Anthony Batiste, Russ Hochstein, Ben Garland, Darrell Reid, and Jeff Stehle.

No depth at C…Hochstein is safe. Agree on some of the others, except Quinn and Batiste, for example. McDaniels will keep all three QBs. I think he's too high on White. Hope you're wrong on “Stoke”. Other possibles in that mix: Alphonso Smith, Jason Hunter and Chris Baker.

As a “Seinfeld” aficionado as much as a Bronco fan, I hate to see Justin Fargas go, not for his running ability, but for the opportunity when he came into the game, to be able to pump my arm and say:

    FARGAS!

FYI: I see by the waiver wire that Tyler Polumbus was cut by the Lions. This will be a tough week or so for a lot of young men.

Knowshon is practicing. He claims to be 80%. Hopefully he is 100% by week one of the season.

Smith is safe because Nate Jones is old and Smith is tradeable because he is not a horrible cover guy. Baker is safe because nose tackles his size are not that easy to find for the 3-4, and he is young and J Williams is old. Hochstein is too old with a bad knee relative to his talent and flexibility (especially after we just added flexibility all over the o-line with our last draft)…For Batiste I will give you a maybe but probably headed to the practice team…And, Brady Quinn just does not have quick or good decision making skills and needs to go. Hunter might give us QB pressure which we definately need with Elvis out.
