PerrishCoxOn How He Will Fit in as a Rookie

“I wouldn’t mind contributing in any way that I can. I’m excited and would just do anything that was asked of me right now.”

On His Strengths

“Man technique, I’m physical and I know how to play the ball well.”On His Suspension from the Cotton Bowl

“The first thing that I did was on Sunday. We had practice that day then me and a few players on the team decided to go out and we came back about an hour and a half past curfew. The next time it happened was about four days later on New Year’s Eve. I went out and met up with my girlfriend and a couple of other friends and family members. I thought I could ring New Year’s in and get back on time. I didn’t make it back on time. Like I said, it was a mistake on my part. I shouldn’t have left and it’s just something that I want to move on from and keep in the past.”

On If His Suspension Caused Him to Drop in the Draft

“It hurt me in a great way. I was told that I was supposed to go higher than I did. The Cotton Bowl mistake was a mistake on my part. It’s something that I learned from and something that I want to put in the past. Hopefully I can do that and move on from it.”

On If He Was Punished Too Harshly

“I would probably say that, but I have to accept what is given to me. I’m just thankful to be in the position that I am now, to go to the Broncos and help the team out a lot. I will do whatever I can do to make it better and to move on. That’s what I plan on doing.”

On Being Held Out of Pro Day

“There were a lot of things that I had planned on after the bowl game: going back and working out with my strength coach at school. And keeping me away from the school and the Pro Day, it kind of hurt me big time. There were a lot of things that probably would’ve been worked out. On top of that, I’m guessing that there were teams that were thinking there was something more than there really was. But, I’m living with it right now.”

Another great pickup. The kid is an absolute steal if he has cleaned up his act, and if he hasn't, then it's not a big loss to cut him. His special teams and physical nature were certainly worth the gamble on him though.

I love how all the players we've drafted have said they're willing to come in and do anything that is asked of them. We've come a long way from having a pouty QB & a WR who punts balls if he doesnt get his way.

and now G/C eric olsen, so we could have the olsen twins playing on the line now. (No I don't think they're actually twins – they probably haven't even met. Eric Olsen hasn't even got a WIKI page yet)

Well, I guess McD and X wanted to silence everyone who said we are looking for choir boys. Not that I am saying he is a bad guy in any way, just that he fell due to character concerns. Love the pick. Not giving up on Phonz but daaaaamn if we had that pick back in this draft. Daaaamn.

Great draft pick and awesome draft overall. Watched Cox play quite a bit as I follow the Big 12, the kid has talent in the KR game and being an affective CB. Also the Jets are letting Alan Faneca walk, anyone think we'll make a run at him? Maybe he can step in for a season and teach these incoming linemen some things.

  • kerry

all these players are robots. everyone says the same thing. “ill do what is asked of me” McD sure chose some drone players. or i wonder if McD just went ahead and wrote their interview answers for them.

  • jtmonie

You get real old real fast. Go away!

  • RH

Well, based on this draft I guess McD believes in Chris Baker since, I don't believe, a 34 yr old Jamal Williams will stay healthy. I'm also one of those crazy people that believe in controlling the line of scrimmage on D. The O-line is looking fine and I'm not opposed to see if Faneca is interested in Denver. But I'm still nervous about our running stopping ability.

  • kerrysucks

Have you never watched a draft?? Thats pretty much what every rookie says because they want to make the team dumbass. How do you think a coach would react if the guy he drafted told him he's only going to do what he wants??? Seriously you will bitch about anything.

  • dbroncs24/7

I hear you I was hoping we got a space eater, but I think they give Chris Baker one more year which is fine by me because I think the kid's got talent and we can get by rotating him, Fields and Williams

  • td30ismvp

Usually your comments are acidic but have some sense to them, but no matter who we picked you would be negative, their agents told them to say it Kerry just like every other prospect says any other time.

  • Chuckd25

The upgraded O-line & Tebow should be a big help to our D-Line. A solid run game & clock management goes a long way to give our big D-lineman time to rest on the sideline and stay fresh.

  • Dan

Hopefully he gets Eddie off of returns and more involved at WR. Eddie needs to step-up because I doubt either of our two one-footed rookies are going to be ready anytime soon.

  • Chuckd25

If McD worte their interview answers and they read them doesnt that just prove they really will do anything the team needs?

  • RH

Dbroncs & Chuckd – I 100% with both of you. I am all for giving Baker one more year, but he needs to be effective. And yes, controlling the Oline and clock with strong running helps the Dline. But there will be many times when the D will have on field for an extended period of time and I just don't have a lot of faith in Fields and Baker is still unproven. Oh well, I'm still jonesing for training camp to start.

On a side note: I know he pulled a bonehead move, but I really like huge RBs. LaGarette Blount would be an interesting undrafted signing (if he makes it).

Carry on boys! Youre doing a fine work.

  • Chuckd25

Any thoughts on Justin Bannan? I think he should help out the D-Line as well. I've not readheard a lot about him other than he went to CU & played in every game for the Ravens the last two seasons. I agree overall the D-Line is a question mark but if Williams can stay healthy I def think we'll be improved from last year. Hold up those lineman and let our athletic LB'ers flow to the ball!

  • Gary

Thanks… I am so impressed with this guy!
