Tim Tebow is a Denver Bronco.

Arguably the greatest player in college football history was drafted by the Broncos with the 25th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The Broncos traded 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round draft picks to move back into the first round and select Tebow. They earlier selected WR Demaryius Thomas with the 22nd overall pick.

After a year of trades that saw Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Peyton Hillis, and Tony Scheffler exported elsewhere, the Broncos’ offense has a youthful, long-term direction again. Will the picks pay dividends? Did the Broncos, despite trading down from 11th overall, reach for these players?

Broncos fans, we want to hear from you! Be sure to take our poll in the sidebar or after the jump. Your thoughts in the comments.

The Broncos select QB Tim Tebow in the 1st round. Do you approve?

Tebow was a terrible pick. He could have gotten a way hotter cheerleader for way less money. We need play makers not a qb who's stats are inflated by their teams system. Name the last good florida qb.

  • roscoe7

Most ass.clown.pissfart.com pick i have ever seen…Shanahan is probably licking his lips right now to see us epically failing

Tebow had 21 TD passes, and 14 rushing TDs last year. In 2007 he had and incredible 32 passing TDs, and 23 rushing TDs. Not bad and definitely a good gamble I'd say! He'll sit the bench for a year or two. By then Demaryius Thomas will start to get good and be ready for Tebow. If one of our 1st rounders pains out, I'll be happy, and I think one of them will. Definitely a good gamble on both in my opinion.

    really strong english. go gaytors.

  • ericinvegas

    We started the day with 1 1st, 2 2nd, 1 3rd, 1 4th, 1 5th, and 1 6th.

    We ended the day with 2 1st, 1 2nd, 2 3rd, 1 5th, and 1 6th.

Obviously moved up and down the board a bunch, but essentially traded a 2nd and a 4th for a 1st and a 3rd. That's not too shabby.

  • Nisse

if orton turns out to be the next joe montana(he did go in the 3ed round right?) then the tebow pick will be about how much we get for him if we trade.

hopping orton prove this was a stupid pick, rather than tebow proving it.

would be nice with a high rated qb, whoever it is.

btw, orton, quinn and tebow. one of these qbs are going to become a pro bowl qb, im sure of that.

  • broncoNM

I love the trades to move down and stockpile picks… then McD pulled this move.

We have major holes that need to be filled… tebow was a luxury pick that we cant afford

  • isaac

It had to be Mc dumass his the only one that could of made this pick how can u pass on clasen and Macoy and take tebow thats just stupid unless there going to use him as a FB and even then they could of still got tebow in the 2or 3 round..i do like thomas pick because when i saw him play i liked him alot more then bryant and he would be good replacement for marshall..but no playoff untill thay fired Mcdumbass

  • Iwasfn47

In his career he had very similar stats to Peyton Manning. I'm not even going to attempt to insult Peyton with a comparison, just a little stat that shows he wasn't nearly as bad a passer as some make him out to be.

Urban Meyers system is an inflating system though that requires a transition period- see: Smith, Alex. I actually think Tebow's better than Smith and Alex was the number 1 pick(and it was the year everyone said Matt Leinart shoulda left and been number 1, lolz). I expect an Orton or Quinn trade tomorrow, and for Tebow to compete for spot immediatly, McD can't afford to waste time unfortunately.

Tebow's arm also isn't bad, and probably comparable to Brandstater's or even slightly better, it's his mechanics that are a mess. There's been some GREAT Qb's with horrible mechanics in the past btw…see: Tankerton, Fran. If he can continue to work on his new motion, as well as incorporate what McD has to offer shouldn't he be fine? Remember that Clausen chose Tebows skills over Clausen's, McCoy's, Pike's, etc. McDaniels comes from a place where they don't take QBs early, so he either is going against that or is in love with this kid. Given he's betting his job on it, I hope its the latter.

Another thought, say we trade Orton for a pick next year, and let Tebow and Quinn battle it out in camp/preseason. Would that not be the most competitive QB competition for however many years we had the two ever to go down? You have Tebow who won over the media nation with his determination, leadership, and hard work, and you have Quinn who's a workout beast and is sure to be giving it his all over the next 3 years before his time runs out as a potential starter. With those two guys pushing eachother and setting the pace of camp and preseason you have to think it'll rub off on the rest of the team. Those two will be the most inshape players on the team possibly, which is kinda weird to say about QBs.

Demaryius Thomas will be very similar to Vince Jackson I think btw, not quiet as monstrous as B-Marsh, but not as much of a headache and still a damn good player. I don't think he'll be much as a rookie though, he has a LOT to learn about route running, and part of why Eddie was so limited last year was because McD only let him run certain routes because he wasn't good enough at others in his eyes. DT could see the same thing early on but I fully expect him to develop into an above average to 1-2 time PB X wideout. He should fully be able to replace Marshall within 3 years, not production wise entirely, but better for the goal this team is seeking to accomplish.

I have to say I've really liked the high character/hard worker stance Denver is taking. Old guys that have never won before love that attitude(see Dawkins) and we're only reaffirming that stance that McD has taken since day 1 without backing down from criticism. Today we added two more players that will help us reach that goal of becoming a TEAM. I'm sure most people here have seen “Miracle” or a doc about the 1980 US Hockey team. A team full of lower talent that wanted it more, and became a true team through work ethic, leadership, intelligence, etc. To all those saying we're giving up all our talent, I say maybe, maybe a little(thought thats pretty debatable), but its worth it if we can replace them with guys near there level and better attitudes/character/leadership/etc. I think we can say that we did that today with 2 positions whether you think who we took was the right pick or not, there's really no denying it.

  • guest

i am a fan of the math behind the breakdown there. not a fan of the tebow pick. it's got a shot to work, but i dont like trading the pkg we gave to get him. had we taken williams it would have been better

  • Dr.Gonzo

Not sold on Tebow just yet, but he seems to be a great guy and has the motivation to prove people wrong. That being said I was watching the Post -Draft coverage on NFLN and I concluded that Jaime Dukes is the biggest douche bag on the planet. Though many of you may have know this before I did.

  • RHINO67

I'll tell you one thing if I had season tickets I would give them up just to slap the shit out of Jamie Dukes just once.

  • Nisse

strange how people dont say you are entitled to your view of things when you say what you belive and stand for, when this is an argument you here alot when peoble critisise tebows views

  • Rob_Bronco

    Touche.

  • TheTroglodyte

Yeah because he did SO much better in the 10 years after Elway retired lol.

  • millerclan02

Yeah but from the way most our responding on this blog they're afraid of faith.

Some say its being a homer, or too loyal. All these people that gripe everytime their team does anything are the guys running around with “descent is the greatest form of patriatism” bumper stickers on their Prius'.

Fan is after all short for Fanatic, and if we are true fans of any team we are fans good and bad. People don't relize the reason Denver gets such a bad rap nationaly in the sports world is the infamous fair weather fans. The rockies don't sell out untill the last few weeks of the season if they're looking for the playoffs, the nuggets used to get 6000 fans untill Mello and company came to town and made them a contender. The AV's proved how far weather everyone around here is, when they made the playoffs every year the sold out every game, the last couple years they had to beg people to fill up The Can.

Tebow will be a very good, if not GREAT football player. McD will put together plays and packages with Tebow. He'll play QB, he'll play TE, RB, FB. He may never be a starting, every down QB, but he will be a valuable asset that will get those 2 or 3 yards that the Broncos have struggled to get the last serveral years. Or maybe he'll pop it over the top to the Thomas on a fake draw cause the safties have to respect the run every time the ball is in his hands.

And one more thought for those that want to pass off Tebow just because he has faith in Christ. Take the COEXSIST sticker off your Vespa and learn what those of us that put our eternal souls in the hands of the one and only true God actually believe.

  • Nisse

    what did he say?

  • Josh

Im sure there was a player that would help us get to the playoffs instead of someone who is going to sit on the bench for a couple of seasons

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

    Well put, e

  • TheTroglodyte

That is pretty amazing. I'm still a little frustrated that we didn't fill some glaring holes in round 1 but what the hell, if this guy turns out to be a hall of fame QB, then it is worth waiting 1 more year to see us start being a serious contender again. He can be plugged in right now in some short yardage situations anyway and contribute starting week 1.

  • Chris Peterson

Tebow is perhaps the best college football player in some time. When I first saw him four years ago, I told my wife that he had “Elway like” qualities. Lets all give him a few years to grow, and maybe, just maybe… we'll wonder what the Hell we've been doing with Orton???!!! Really folks, doesn't matter what religion you are, doesn't matter what you think of UF, or the price of rice in China. This guy is a winner. All reports say his quarterback “makeover” during the winter has been fantastic. I for one have not been this excited over a draft pick since “The Chosen One” graced our presence. May his future be long and prosperous!!

  • Iwasfn47

1 more thing. If we got Tebow in say…the 3rd round, how many people here would say it was a great pick, and be pointing out his strengths and potential? Just saying.

I understand the value of the 1st, but at QB, if you think the guy's gonna be a good one why wait and let someone else have the chance to take him instead? Maybe McD regretted not getting Sanchez or something last year and wasn't gonna wait for Tebow to fall to us in the 2nd or 3rd.

  • Nisse

I dont think tebow has in mind to coexist with anyone saying how much they dont belive in god.

and dont get people started on being afraid of religiuse people.

    couse they are really dangeres.

so everyone out there, be afraid, be very afraid…

  • Doom92

Dude you cant tell Herc anything… He is a demi-god that knows everything there is to know about football, especially the NFL, just ask him…lmao…

  • Jarrod

Really like this! Thomas is explosive, a little raw but coaching can bring him to a 1st round level for sure…a little worried about Tebow, especially in the first round, and considering we gave up quite a bit (2,3,4) in draft picks…that being said, he IS a winner, which is underrated. Winning can't be taught, throwing the ball right can. And remember we still have another 2nd rounder and two 3rds so we didnt mortgage our future on him…

  • Josh

You want optimism, maybe this will cost McD his job

  • GO GATORS

IT NOT A WASTE HE WILL BE THE BEST QB SINCE JOHN ELWAY. NOT THE SAME , BUT GOOD!!!!!! YOU GUYS WILL SEE. GIVE HIM A CHANCE.

  • Scottey

T n T connection….I can just hear the AC/DC theme going through my head right now…….I love the pick!

  • Iwasfn47

We have 3 picks in the 2nd and 3rd. Say we go OG, C, ILB in some fashion with say Walton and Spikes as two of those picks, you guys shut up about the needs and holes? NT and DE are luxury picks right now and Green/Williams(with Fields rotating)/Bannan has atleast 2-3 years, if we address some guys in next years draft at those spots its fine. The key to the draft is to fill needs at the right spots and take the talent when you see it, even if it doesn't fit in right away. Lets see how we play our next 3 picks, 3 guys whom could feasibly all contribute next year if we draft for need. There's still a lot of talent left at center and guard. Last year Duke Robinson(rumored to be a can't miss great guard) fell hard, and will still likely be a pretty good player in this league. Look at a draft from 5-6 years back and look at the 2nd round on since thats what we have left and see if you find as many gems as there were in the first.

  • Dr.Gonzo

His typical Bronco bashing comments. Being sarcastic about how many games we've won over the past few seasons (the tone in which he said this) and how terrible our 1st round was due to the Tebow pick. I don't think it was all that bad and I hope TIMMAY! makes this prick eat crow in the near future. There's just something about Jaime Dukes that rubs me the wrong way. I officially jump on the Tebow bandwagon just to see Dukes' comments come back and bite em in the ass!

  • ct

What does Tim Tebow bring to Denver?? The heart of a lion…incredible upside….a red zone threat like we have never had…impeccable character…what's not to love about that!!!

  • Doom92

I'm stoked about this. I posted just the other day in another article that I didn't know when but I hoped we would get him and when moved back the second time figured that was going to happen and I'm stoked about it. In my post the other day I even said, you heard it here first…lol.

Tebow will not start this or probably even next year but I think we are being set up to be an AFC contender in '12. This is the best move that I think McImmature has made yet and I'd bet right now with any one that Tim Tebow will be the guy that keeps McImmature here for the long term for sure. And I don't know which one of you said it, but you were right, He bet his career on it!!!

As I have posted a number of times I don't care a whole bunch for McImmature but… I'm buying this one…

  • millerclan02

Religious people can be dangerous. Don't mistake religous people with people that have faith and a relationship with God. Religous is following traditions. Catholics are religous, true belivers that have faith in Christ are not. Tim Tebow, and most of us are not dangerous.

Do people us “God told me to do it” on ocasion, yes but most of us want to love our nieghbor, not shoot the local abortionist. Go talk to a local pastor that actually teaches the bible, and yes there are those that never open a bible in the pulpit, don't talk to them, and see what they have to say rather then judging the largest religion in the world based a few psycopaths that use God as an excuse.

  • Chris Peterson

Like I was politely trying to say, winners are born… even if they are home schooled!! Okay, I know it, I shouldn't be saying it here, 'cause it's a sports blog and all, but here goes… Obama would not appreciate this pick!!! Have at it boys -n- girls!!

  • Wino

    you’re a douche

  • Jack

We would've gotten him in the 3rd! Bills were trying like crazy to move back in the 1st to get him! So he wouldve been a Bill or a Bronco picked in the 1st round!

  • Doom92

WTF??? Am I the only one that seriously missed that?

  • Ack

We got a guy with no arm and drops his shoulder to get through defenders. Sounds like success in the NFL. Look at the video of whoever posted the youtube with all his TD's. Not one pass was on a line. Everything has too much air underneath. He's just not a pro QB.

And for idiots saying Elway was criticized when he came in to the league: you're insane. Elway had minor issues. Tebow struggled take snaps from center in Januray! He's learned a new motion that has never been tested in a game.

  • Nisse

a republican man is not dangeres either by himself, but republicans as a group have proven that they are, and a republic office in the whitehouse was dangeres as well. as a group they get dangeres.

and tim tebow is dangeres, in the way he effects people in the wrong way, such as making it popular to be “pro-life”, and thinking homosexuality can be cured and that homosexuality is something wrong.

and now you will probobly say its his freedom of speach to say what i want.

and im using mine, and im saying religion is dangeres.

  • Nisse

but he has some upside, and there are worse guys in the league.

and like someone said before, dawkins has the same Religious belives, and i enjoy watching him play alot.

probobly wont buy his jersey though.

  • hotrod

McDaniels is nuts. He'll be gone in a year or two.

  • bankmeister

Who is this Tebow character? I thought he played Lacrosse. Nice pick, Doog.

  • Ackjugglesfuntlersballs

You're the only retard in the world that thinks tebow has a weak arm…I hope you die choking on the sack of the bag of dicks you inhaled while typing this garbage. If you hate Tebow, it's not because of arm strength.

Also to say Tebow struggled taking snaps while winning a 2 national championships and a heisman along the way, just is pure irrational.

  • Floridagator

i thought the jaguars fans sucked.but wow bronco fans atleast a 3rd of the bronco nation is really sucking bad.get over it whether you like it or not you got Tebow.the jaguars will fold in jacksonville before McD get's fired.Jacksonville fans are outraged that the jags didn't take a home town boy they think there ticket sales were bad last year they havn't seen anything yet every game but 1 was blacked out last year due to non ticket sales,if you dont like Tebow you will he is a WINNNER.something Sam Bradford cant claim.

  • areferee

Weren't you sitting on the porch pickin' on a banjo in the movie “Deliverance”?

  • hatethegators

i am most disturbed that the jort wearing trailer trash of alachua county just jumped on the bronco bandwagon. they're easy to spot, they dont have many teeth, wear wal mart danny warful jerseys and knock off gold chains.

  • herc_rock

He threw some TD's in college? Wow. So did David Klingler.

  • herc_rock

Not everything…just more than the people that think Tim Tebow is a viable NFL QB.

  • Bucky

Good, we don't need fans like you. Give your tickets to someone who will appreciate them.

  • Big_Pete

I might be moving to DC cause wife works for government. If that happens, we're catching a few games on TV, and if you are ever in Denver, I have season tickets, and we'll tailgate (told wife I'm going back to Denver for most Broncos games)
