Last week when Mike Nolan “parted ways” from Denver everyone felt assured that Dean Pees had the Broncos defensive coordinator job locked down. Well not anymore. According to several rumors the current Broncos linebackers coach Don Martindale is expected to get the job. According to the Denver Post the Broncos also considered the Patriots Linebackers coach Matt Patricia, who is expected to become the new Patriots defensive coordinator.

Vic Lombardi states:

VicLombardi I’m told Martindale is 90-percent likely to get the DC job. No confirmation from Broncos however.

The Denver Post reports:

Veteran assistant Dean Pees, like many in the league, initially believed he was the front-runner to replace Mike Nolan. But Broncos linebackers coach Don Martindale, 46, appears to be the choice after meeting with coach.

Martindale, whose nickname is Coach Wink, will be the fifth defensive coordinator Denver has seen in five years. Coach Wink, who is highly favored by the players, has never served as a defensive coordinator in the NFL.

    AKA, no one has a clue. I like the stab at Martindale, there were many guessing that Martindale, not Tom Cable would get the head coaching job in Oakland last season.

    Though I wish we could just get Greg Robinson back and he could possibly convince Terrell Davis, Al Wilson, Steve Atwater and Bill Romanowski out of retirement.

    they should just flip a cion.dont mader any way.,the talent level drops any way.Fire kyle orten

    I couldn't wright this Tuesday,I love Ryen Clady hs is a real football player.Man that guy is a beast and he's got the right head to be a grate hall of fame player.Could be the best offence of linemen ever.

  • JimmyBallgame

    dude try spell check.

    use ( offensive ) in place of ( offence of ) next time.

    peace.

  • JimmyBallgame

    cion = coin

    any way = anyway

    mader = matter

    Orten = Orton

  • dogheadbrew

    Nice thought, but I doubt it will make any difference. “any way.,the talent” was not written by some one who cares about correct written English, nor the assumptions made of them.

    I like the martindale choice. Coaching linebackers going from a 4-3 to a 3-4 is no easy feat and this guy did a great job of it. I like the idea of hiring from within. The patriot exodus to Dove Valley was starting to annoy me.

    I hope you mean to coach and not to play.

    Aww look. Milelow/milehigh found a way to bypass his ban. You know what I don't get about you? You call for all of these people to get fired and cut or what have you, but you have never once pointed out a way to better the situation. There really isn't any free agent QB out there better than orton. What do you propose we do?

  • steeplebomb

    Yeah I've been correcting this guy's spelling of 'Orton' since the end of last summer. No effect whatsoever.

    I was being critical of the critics in that second paragraph. Basically… It's a new matter, what worked isn't going to work anymore, “One must change one's tactics every ten years if one wishes to maintain one's superiority.” – Napoleon Bonaparte.

  • swagger

    Sometime change is good.

  • hope

    yes thier is were do you want me to start.lets see whos better then orten jeff garcia,byron lefwitch,wait every qb in the free agentcy is better then orten.the question is who isnt better then Orten.

  • broncos0587

    @hope. Leftwich is a 1st round bust and Garcia wouldnt fit McD's system. What do you got againts Orton anyway? The dude had a better season than CUNTLER. You just want a QB with a cannon arm.

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

    That's not the point. We don't need any more band aids at the quarterback. We need a permanent solution. Who out there can you find or trade for that can come in here and be our quarterback for the next 5 or 6 years and have the best chance at leading us to a super bowl? Kyle Orton is not the answer, but at the moment there's not anything that's better.

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

    I want Peyton Manning's brains, Jay Cutler's arm and physicality, and Vince Young's legs with Drew Breeze's swagger.

    Ahhh… It's nice to dream

  • TheTroglodyte

    lol my god what do ya know, you want John Elway.

  • dogheadbrew

    I've noticed quite a few well reasoned, insightful and educated posters on this site. Which is the major reason I continue to read and post here (yes, that's as arrogant as it sounds. I'm super awesome!). I don't understand why we keep getting goaded into conversations with posters who, it seems, craft their entire entry to irritate and inflame the rest of us. Yet we all keep doing it.

    Except me of course, because I'm super awesome.

    I was trying to keep it in the active qb range. otherwise I would have just came out and said it.
