One-third of the Denver Broncos‘ assistant coach carousel appears to have stopped spinning. FOX 31’s Josina Anderson reports that former Buffalo Bills RB coach Eric Studesville, who interviewed with the Broncos this week, has agreed in principle to the same position here.

Studesville will arrive in Colorado soon and is expected to sign a contract in the next day or two, reports Anderson.

Bobby Turner, who served as Broncos running backs coach for 15 years in Denver, left Denver to rejoin Mike Shanahan in Washington last week.

okay i was pretty cool with this seeing that this guy like tough running backs with deceptive speed. His running Backs will produce. And if they dont produce chances are the running back is a bust or just sucks.

Okay the broncos will target Tom Cable to be the offensive line coach. the defense is up in the air.

  • Jrod

I like the hire…would've loved to keep Turner instead, but if we have to change I think this guy isn't half bad. I think he can teach Moreno to be a lot more physical than he was this year.

  • InRodWeTrust

I like the move as well, I wonder what impact this will have on Hillis. He might just emerge as the back we all think he is.

  • anthony33

Hummm… not sure how you teach someone to be more phyical? It's like trying to teach speed, quickness, heart or toughness. You're either born with it or you're not.

  • Jrod

    technique, running style, form etc.

  • roshon2411

What impact? Hillis is gone as soon as McD can get a chance.

  • dogheadbrew

McD seems to have made some savvy moves and roster changes. Cold shouldering Hillis and forgetting about Stokley are not good examples.

Tom Cable as offensive line coach? Not that that would be bad, but what hat did you pull that out of?

  • steeplebomb

Honestly I sort of wish all of these changes had happened last off season. Realistically, I don't think it could have happened after the Cutler affair but I'm afraid of what all this turnover at important coaching positions is going to do to this team. Lets pick one philosophy, find the people that believe in it, and just go. You can't bring in coaches with different views on how that game is played every year and expect them to successfully integrate into the team cohesively in one off season. Bobby Turner was great at what he did, but if we knew that he was going to be gone, we should have found a new prospect last off season. By having this 'coaching carousel' still spinning one year later, it will prolong the growing pains associated with a new head coach.

i'm sorry the guy is a good position coach and a better head coach than his records show. seriously if he had control like McD we would of made the players. But because of pride and al davis' self glory they will forever suffer. Cable turn the crappy raider oline into something better than before without making major personel changes. I'm a strong believer in the best 11 will play and thats not they way it is now.

I'm currently in limbo with the broncos. i love the team but the coach is really screwing up.

  • TheTroglodyte

Stokley was not forgotten about. He is a really good player when healthy but he hasn't had a productive year since he had surgery back in 2004. No wr was productive for the Bronco's this year except for B. Marshall. This is just another example of way off base assumptions based on nothing. You can say Stokley wasn't utilized as well as he should have been. Sure that may be true. Saying he was forgot about though, common man!

  • TheTroglodyte

Only time will tell if the coach is really screwing up or not. It's WAY too early to jump to such conclusions. The NFL is just like any other business and based on some previous posts you are obviously a smart guy so I'm sure you know how important it is when a new boss comes to town to rectify a struggling company, that he is given the opportunity and time to bring in the people he wants to surround himself with.

McD hasn't even been here a year and so many people are so critical of him already it is ridiculous. He didn't have much time to prepare for the draft last year. He inherited one of the worst defenses in the league. He got an offense with a cry baby of a QB that was way overrated because they got a lot of yards (not so many points), he had to transition a defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4, a defense that didn't have the right pieces in place to be either mind you. His #1 wr had such bad attitude problems he was going to be outright cut by Shanahan who would let his players get away with anything.

Had the guy made some mistakes, of course. He is young, it's his first year on a team in disarray, he was thrown into some situations that would have been tough to handle for anyone let alone a young rookie coach. He has also made a lot of positive changes for the team though and he deserves the chance for fans to relax and give him another year to see what he is really all about.

Hear me out its not the record what bothers me. Its more of McD on the whole. See its not that i dont like him as a coach its just he has to become mature. Peyton Hillis, Marshall, Cutler and who ever else had any comments to say about him are wrong because the fact that he is the head coach. I as a child was tought not to back talk my elders. thats respect off the back. But had i Back talk my mother or any elder i was punish. not the elder going tic for tac with me like a school girl. He has to realize what position he is in. Can you imagine the judge and defendant sayin i know you are but what am? during a court session. yeah thats how he looks to me.

I realize he is human so his play calling will suffer at times but he needs to get rid of his silly pride and ensure Mr. Bowlen, his players and his fans that the best 11 will always be on the field. not know crap about liking attitudes during practice and taking cheap shots at peyton hillis cause he didnt get one first down when moreno suffers on a regular bases.

This will be his last year as a head coach if he doesnt get us to the playoffsa and thats for sure. See he was handed a better offense than is currently. All he had to do was fix the deffense he did that but now the offense is shitty.

  • TheTroglodyte

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on all points. As far as I am concerned Cutler is a pouty child and Marshall is a malcontent criminal. The offense sucked last year. Yeah it was worse this year that isn't the point. The offense was horrible last year as well. It was 16th in points scored and it was DEAD LAST in turnovers inside of both 20's as well as DEAD LAST in turnovers inside the redzone.

Cutler was not controllable and Shanahan himself told Adam Schefter he was going to be put on the trading block. I understand people not caring for McD much and I understand everyone being frustrated Hillis not given a chance. That being said, I am blown away how everyone thinks the offense was actually ok as it was. It was a complete joke last year (just like this year) that caused the defense to play much worse than it actually was.

I couldn't be happier to see all the prima donna's, cry babies, me first, and lazy players get booted from this team. Whether or not McD sticks around is irrelevant. The next decade for this team will be brighter because of the house cleaning. Period.
