Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has passed away, ESPN reports, following injuries suffered from a truck accident Wednesday night. Henry was hospitalized overnight after being found on a residential road. He succumbed to his injuries at 6:36 a.m. this morning.

Henry, who was raising three children with his fiancee Loleini Tonga, was 26.

The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was search for news on Henry, only to find the worst. What a senseless and saddening tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Henry’s family, friends, and the entire Bengals community and fans.

Truly sad. Henry had turned his life around over the last year. If you watched HBO's hard knocks this season you could see the interaction with the Bengals coaching staff trying to mentor Chris as a better person and player.

You know, that before his taking in his nephew, Brandon wan on this type of path. I think he is on the right road and has matured, and I don't want him to be a similar headline. I pray for Henry's family, and hope that others can learn from his mistake

As much as football really shouldn't play into the discussion right now this really hurts the Bengals playoff hopes. Seems like everytime they get things aligned for a run something happens to their roster.

Actually Henry was on IR; I didn't know it either until reading these stories.

What was the injury for? I kept wondering what he was doing in Charlotte during the season.

  • Scottey

    Broken arm that required surgery

He broke his arm week 9 against Baltimore. This really sucks for the kids. Not only have they lost their dad, their mother is responsible whether intentionally or not.

I agree this in not supposed to be a football moment… but I hope the bangles come out and dismantle the chargers and do it for Henry. Sucks man. Just sucks.
