Remember Orton or Orten spent 3 years with the Bears struggling to beat out Rex Grossman. Hardly stellar competition and Lovie Smith isn't exactly a dumb head coach. I say, Coach McD make the decision now to start Simms and spend the week preparing him to start. Otherwise, we will end up with one gimpy starting QB who will probably only be able to practice at full speed for a day or two and one inadequately prepared backup QB who will be in the game after the first sack of gimpy Orton/Orten.

its Orton, not Orten. Get it right. A blind squirrel wouldn't have the win/loss record Kyle has. Not saying he's amazing, but he's a hell of a lot better then a backup QB (like, I don't know, Simms?)

McD has a limited amount of time and reps to prepare the team with each week. Should he give 'Orten' more so he can improve from a journeyman or should he give Simms more to prepare him for game time situations?

I agree that we need a better run game but in defense of our avg run game, the skins defense went right after our run game and challenged Simms to throw. They knew as we did that we were toast in the pass game as soon as Simms came on the field.
If Simms starts on sunday the Chargers will do just the same. Press our running game and make Simms beat them, and that is what any and all teams would do. There is never an excuse for 3-13 for 13 yards. Not many of us could do much worse than that. Can't even make an arguement about even a perceived threat with those numbers.
We can only hope and pray that if Simms plays on against the bolts that he has help from above or our running game can carry us or our defense can show up again or our special teams gets the same help as Simms or that Rivers and LT are inactive and then it may be a game....
Bottom line....... We need help and lots of it or get back to playing at the beginning of the year, get our confidence back and play our positions...

Moreno had some pretty good runs in the first half, it is true. At halftime, he was 12 for 53 with a 4.4 yard average. He even finished the game at 18 for 97 with a 5.5 average, which suggests he did better in the second half.

Then why did we have troubles with ball control? You go out there and you're trying to give your backup QB a break and ease him in, you need to get those first downs with runs. Put them in manageable situations.

The Redskins defense has allowed 125.7 yards on average to other teams. Somehow, despite running it down their throats, we only got a total of 120 -- we couldn't even get up to the average, when we were in a situation where we should've been leaning heavily on the run game. Maybe the fault is more McDaniel's than the O-Line for letting Simms pass too much, but I can't help but think that a more dominant run game, rather than a very average run game, would have allowed the Broncos to remain more in control during the second half of the game. Instead, the offense fell down, and the defense has been more and more exposed as the league gets more looks at it.

We have an average, at best, run game, and we need a dominant run game.

I could care less about the studs or the duds unless the running game gets better we won't control the ball. Why isn't Hillis Playing he is a stud, both as a runner and as a receiver, get him is the game..

Noted and updated thanks for the catch. I watched the replays on NFL.com and it was hard to determine if it was a 94 or 95. The player's frame looked smaller than Reid.
