BroncoTalk Game Balls

Broncos 23 – Raiders 3
. Nothing is sweeter. Game balls gentlemen, who ya got?!

Brian Dawkins

BRIAN DAWKINS
How good of a player do you have to be to see that the ball came out, is loose, your foot is out of bounds, and you have to get the ball before anyone else AND get your feet in bounds. Do all of this in a split second, pick up the ball and run with it. And while the replay is being looked at by officials? Sit on the sideline and know with absolute confidence that you were 100% perfect. Add this to his leadership, his nose for the ball, his ability to hit. Seriously, do players get any better than Dawkins? – E. Halsey Miles

Elvis Dumervil

ELVIS DUMERVIL
Doom finished second in tackles and two sacks. It’s always better when your linebackers score more tackles than your safeties and corners. It’s good to see that he wasn’t just a one game fluke at OLB. – Mr. East

Kyle Orton

KYLE ORTON
How many more weeks can we go without mentioning his name? ZERO. I won’t say anything more in respect of a jinx…the guy is doing his job. Period. Spreading the ball, protecting the ball, AND keeping BM a part of the team ( BM pounding the ball against his head after the touch). Kyle Orton through 3 games has been everything this coaching staff has asked him to be. Game. Ball. Three and O. Go Broncs! – J. Kenneth K.

Knowshon Moreno

KNOWSHON MORENO
After several weeks of being indoctrinated into the Broncos offense, Moreno was able to near a 100 yard effort and score his first touchdown in orange and blue. He has become more patient as a runner and his vision and ability to see holes is improving as well. As the year progresses, look for Moreno to establish himself as one of the best young players in the NFL. – Christopher D. Hart

Josh McDaniels

JOSH MCDANIELS
I know… coming from me, that might be unexpected since I have openly disagreed with several of his decisions this off-season. However, I’m not blind enough to miss the fact that our team has been well prepared each week and our game plan has been more than solid each outing. I remain convinced that our team had a better shot at winning a Super Bowl with Cutler, but I can’t deny that McDaniels seemingly fixed every defensive problem Shanahan couldn’t with the hire of Nolan, and he is proven himself to be an intelligent and extremely capable field general. This week it’s time to acknowledge his work in preparing our team and for constructing excellent game plans that have put our players a position to win games. Good job, Coach. – Jonathan Douglas

Correll Buckhalter

CORRELL BUCKHALTER
Did anyone honestly see him having this type of impact? Buckhalter was just one of several veteran free agent “re-treads” the Broncos brought in this offseason, but he has made an impact and then some. Get this — Buckhalter leads the league for running backs in yards per carry with 7.4 (minimum 10 carries/game). Since seeing him in training camp I’ve been extremely impressed with his patience, vision, and breakaway speed. We have a two-headed running back monster in Denver again, and it’s a beautiful thing to behold. – Kyle

Agree? Disagree? Who’d we miss? Dish it out in the comments.

  • TD30isMVP

CORRELL BUCKHALTER deserves some credit, well done. Every week he is breaking off a big run and is really fun to watch. The passing game may be boring but it is better than clinching your teeth every time the QB drops back to pass.

  • Peter P

You missed one. Game ball has got to go to Clady. Ties an NFL record, plus is so good that Seymore loses his cool and and draws a 15 yarder for unsportsmanship. How freaked out do you have to be to pull a grown man's hair like your in a cat fight.

  • Kelly in Carolina

Still drinking that Kool-aid over here in North Carolina…after that Raider pounding, I think I'll order a side of sweet tea!

    Go Broncos!

Beat Dallas….and don't crash from the sugar high after week 3 like at KC last year! I've been saying all along that after week 5, if we are 5-0, then we will make the playoffs and be a success under McDaniels. For the last four years in Madden, I always hired McDaniels as my offensive coordinator and wait til the second year to draft a rookie QB, and then it's on! But this real life scenario is turning out even better!

  • adamorange

    What happened to Clady?!

We knew he was solid. We knew he was keeping defenders off the QB. Now we know that he manhandled Richard Seymour so much that Seymour was frustrated enough to pull his hair after the play (for a first down!).

Game ball – Clady and the O-Line

  • http://kellyleephipps.com Kelly Lee Phipps

Gameball to the Defense please as a whole! 5.3 points allowed per game! #1 in the NFL! WOW! I loved seeing Dawkins come down and blow up McFadden when he broke past the line the first time. That would not have happened last year! We have RUN support. How cool is that!

  • d_e_e

I think the general media will start buying into Denver more once we beat Dallas at home next sunday.

  • d_e_e

    (dee) is now d_e_e.

    Just for the record……..

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Jonathan Douglas

Oh, Clady has not been forgotten… I was just waiting for one more game so I can give him the game ball for BREAKING the NFL record! :)

  • stuckinraiderland

I love Dumervil as a game ball. The best thing about the guy is that he is demonstrating, as I've said before, what a bunch of crap all of the NFL combine stats are– he's too damn short, out of place, doesn't have the physical measurements for the NFL– remember all of that b.s.? The guy set an NCAA RECORD for sacks, and we picked him up in the fourth round.
Also, how much fun was it to watch him leap onto Russel and hold on for dear life on his first sack? The dude looked like a big cat taking down a huge water-buffalo on some nature documentary: way out-sized, but still clinging to the jugular. Way to go, Doom. Definitely my new favorite Bronco, with all due respect to the many fine candidates.

  • Chase

How could you not consider Clady for a game ball. He just tied the record for consecutive games without giving up a full sack……not to mention the record holder was not a rookie for the majority of his run!!!! I do think the other guys do deserve a game ball as well. The team as a whole is looking great and I am real impressed with how far the offense has come since that first preseason game. First and foremost, the biggest thing I see from McD is his ability to have a team prepared to play. You can have all the talent in the world but if a Coach can't get a team prepared, talent means nothing. Sorry, but the chargers are a good example!!!!

    GAMEBALL Goes to CLADY

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

Well not to be a tease or to give anything away, but I'm working on an all-Clady story that I'm sure will make up for it.

  • herc_rock

A lifetime achievement game-ball goes to Al Davis.

  • MrEast

I almost put Clady down but I don't want to jynx his performance. All he needs to do is have one more sackless game and he'll have the NFL record. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed and not changing my socks for the guy.

  • Scott725

Absolutly agree with Peter why only because Clady is the league's best left tackle and yet never ever seems to get any credit becuase he's that good!

  • Smartyfan

You are ALL so lucky to have Dawkins. There is a whole city full of broken hearts here in Philly/South Jersey. He is worth every penny and then some. Go B-Dawk and go Broncos!! (And this is from a die-hard Eagles fan)

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

As far as I'm concerned, Clady already has the record. He's tied for it, and that's quite an accomplishment, and in my mind I sincerely doubt Ryan Young had to play as many drop-back snaps as Clady, if 2/3 as many.

  • Ted

I have to say i am really excited thus far. I am really excited about this weekend, with the chance to face a more complete team then weeks prior. We will face a team alot of people consider a contender and if we go 4-0 we will shock the nation. I honestly am a Shanafan but i believe we would at best be 2-1 right now with shanahan. If we do go 4-0 i am fairly confident we will atleast see a wildcard chance.

  • broncoinva9986

I do believe we will beat San Diego and Dallas…….I am confident that this defense is the shit……But did anybody hear colin Cowherd say that we would be lucky to 4-7 by week twelve

  • http://ehalseymiles.com E. Halsey Miles

In the next 8 games, right now, I think the team will probably go 4-4. And if we do I think we'll be damned happy to be at 7-4 looking at a real shot at the division title, and a much easier last 5 games than the 8 preceding.

  • threeyardbomb

I heard him, bit my lip as to not offend my son on the way to school. Collin is a Coward more like it, afraid to admit being wrong. I wish Clayton, Dukes, Cowherd and all the other “experts” would choke on the diareah that spouts out their lips but alas, there would be no more experts. I can only hope our Broncos continue to prove these “experts” wrong and pray none of them get on “Our” band wagon. The Broncos will get their respect as they go through the schedule, one game at a time. We can beat Dallas and expect the student to teach the master when we play the Patriots.

  • Ed

He's a key part in the total revitalization of the previously horrible Denver defense. As an AFC West fan, I only really watched Philly on Monday nights and playoffs. I had no idea just how good this guy is.
