I am not blaming Cutler for our shitty defense, just making the point that high turnovers and bad field position influence the defenses ability to stop their opponent. To that extent I’m sure you don’t disagree with me. Maybe you just don’t feel it had an impact on our Broncos.

The same could also be said in reverse and you could blame Cutler’s need to put up so many points on his poor decision making. That would be just as fair. Bottom line, managing the game is the QB’s job.

Additionally, Orton did not have the protection Cutler had. I have NEVER seen a QB consistently not even get touched like Cutler was last year. I will give Orton a chance with this line and in this system. Is he an upgrade? as Kerry said… PFFFFFFFFTTTTT but I still think he can manage a game in this primarily dink and dunk offense.

I’m with Kerry, blaming Cutler for the defensive problems is a little ridiculous. Last i checked, Cutler didn’t play on the front-7.

sorry man but Orton is not an upgrade when it comes to decision making. he turned the ball over 17 times last year while throwing it 200 times LESS then Cutler. Culter turned it over 20 times, but threw it 200 more times. if Orton had 100 more opportunities then he did, he would have turned it over more then Cutler did. Orton doesnt take better care of the football, he just happened to throw it less.

and are you f**KING kidding me? you are gonna blame Cutler for the problems with the defense?? what the hell did you watch?? its the defenses job to stop the other teams offense! regardless of what field position they might have! the defense have up 28 points a game last year and thats somehow Cutlers fault??!! bullshit! Cutler had to throw the ball 45 times a game just to keep the Broncos in the game, because the defense couldnt stop anyone! that isnt Cutler fault. NOTHING about the defense is Cutlers fault.

“responsible for putting our Defense in bad positions to be scored on” that is the stupidest line ive ever read on here. PFFFFFTTTTTTT. its the defenses job to stop the other regardless of field position. and when the defense doesnt hold up its end then the team fails. without Cutler this team wouldnt have come close to winning the division. Cutlers as much to blame for the bad defense as the janitor or the peanut guy. and all this “we will do just fine” well “just fine” doesnt make a team a contender. “just fine” isnt what SB teams are made of. McDaniels took apart a SB caliber offense. just fine isnt gonna make this team great. they are now a bad team with WAY MORE question marks then answers.

The fact that Shanny didn’t see this shows me our team got better with a new coach and also shows me we can do just fine without Cutler.

With that being said I think we would all feel more comfortable with Cutler under McDaniel’s tutelage but Cutler is a bitch and couldn’t handle “his coach” getting fired and the business behind football with the possibility of his trade. He is a whiney bitch. Period. Maybe he grows up. I no longer hope so.

So good riddance. Let’s get past it and hope this coach has a clue. Everyone I know in and around the front office says the way McD and Xanders are running things is night and day better than the old regime. So there you have it. Positive vibes from inside (and no they don’t win you games but it shows McDaniel’s does have patience contrary to some opinions).

This year we will likely stink. New systems, new players, and extremely difficult schedule. But I expect that we will play a lot harder and won’t be getting blown out. It will be fun to see the team fight and grow. Hopefully we show improvement by the end of the season and this gives us enough momentum going in to 2010 to have a decent season.

I think it sets a line in the sand , its my way or the highway …. which is dangerous … but I believe a nice change from Shanny’s country club.

Cutler was the exception and not the norm…. I dont think McD has lost the room and I do believe B Marshall will be back with the team, and also believe he will get arrested again.

like i said Cutler did handle it wrong. but at the same time McDaniels should have used his supposed “genius” and mentored the kid to become that leader that this team needs. but i really think this trade was more about “who the boss is” then about Cutler saying he wanted out. Bowlen and McDaniels had to brandish thier authority and it cost the team the best young QB in the league. yes i didnt like his whining either, BUT the guy has way too much talent to just give up on before even seeing how things go in camp. McDaniels should have waited until the mandatory camps were over to actually see if he and Cutler could co-exsist. if they couldnt then dealing him would have been just, but dealing him before actually working together was wrong. and it will cost this team for a while. i mean the set back is gonna be enormous.

and i dont hink them asking for trades was a sign that they didnt wanna be here, but more a reactionary jolt to change. Cutler and Marshall were used to being babied by Shanahan. now a guy comes in who wont baby them and they have a kneejerk reaction. but McDaniels could have shown how much of a genius he really is by saying “hey come to the mandatory camps, lets work together and see how the coach/player relationship works, then we will go from there” and Cutler even said he was gonna be at everything mandatory. so him saying he will be there was a step in the right direction but apparently its an affront to Bowlens authority if you dont answer a phone call. it was a decision that was made too quick and made before seeing if it would actually work.

it raises too many questions about McDaniels patience when it comes to players.

You do make some good points, and let me say this about Cutler. I’m not denying that he is talented , he makes dumb decisons on the football field but he is talented…. What I grew tired of his is attitude and his whining.

Cutler is not a leader. A leader would be someone after seeing his coach fired and seeing that he was almost traded by a new coach steps up and says

“THIS IS MY TEAM, WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TRADING ME”

A leader sucks it up and proves the new coach wrong, proves when shit gets tough he doesn’t take his ball and go home because he isnt picked first.

This team traded guys like Sharpe and Atwater…..they’ve released guys like Al Wilson and almost got rid of ELWAY! , The NFL is a business N.F.L (NOT FOR LONG) … No one is untouchable …NO ONE.
So it didnt entirely surprise me that they “talked” about trading Cutler, what did surprise me was his reaction … instead of proving his worth, he went home.

For both Cutler and Marshall seeing how quickly they asked for trades out of here, really tells me that they never really wanted to be here.

well i never claimed Cutler to be a model Employee. he was also in the wrong during his whole trade escapade. he could have handled it differently. ive admitted all this. but at the same time he has WAY TOO much talent to simply trade away especially when you dont get an equal QB in return. Ayers and Orton is what we got for Cutler. they are not going to replace a damn good QB who was on the verge of becoming elite. we could have kept Cutler and still drafted Ayers. or kept Cutler and drafted Moreno. dumping him was not neccasary regardless of his attitude. he was young and had been pampered by Shanahan. if McDaniels is such a genius as most claim him to be then he could have coached Cutler to be a better leader and make better football decisions on the field. it was a stupid move that crippled the team, not helped it. he was not a cancer at all. TO is a cancer, Chad Johnson is a Cancer. Cutler never threw his teammates under the bus. yes his leadership skills needed work. but what 25 year old QB doesnt need leadership work? McDaniels and Bowlen gave up on trying to further Cutler into being a great to Elite QB because he dared not return a phone call. every little camp that was going on was not mandatory and Cutler didnt have to be there. he even stated publicly that he would be at everything mandatory. but instead of try to work it out, Bowlen and McDaniels had to brandish their authority and got rid of him before even trying to work things out. making a phone call or a text message doesnt qualify as trying to work things our for the betterment of the team. Cutler wasnt required to be at anything that wasnt mandatory and NOT ONE player is required to pick up his phone when the coach or owner calls.

Cutler is solely the reason this team won 8 games this year. we had no defense and no running game. without Cutler this team wins maybe 4 games total. Cutler pulled out wins with shit talent on the defense and nobody (until Hillis) at the RB position. if you really think we would have won 8 games with Patrick Ramsey then you are crazy. Cutler proved he can pull out wins without help from the defense or the running game. the defense is solely to blame for the seasons failures. they could stop NOBODY. Cutler had to throw 80% of the time just to keep this team in the game. so of course he was gonna throw INT’s. i mean i seriously cannot believ people on this site or any other site think we are better with Kyle Orton! a freaking backup who didnt even play in 06 and only played 3 games in 07. theres a reason why EVERYBODY in the NFL world outside of the blind followers thinks the Broncos are completely rebuilding and are in no way a contender.
