All hell has officially broken loose. Pat Bowlen has officially released a statement saying that he will comply with Jay Cutler’s trade requets. The AP article states,

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen released a statement saying both he and McDaniels had been unable to get Cutler to call them back over the last 10 days. Bowlen said he spoke with Cutler’s agent, Bus Cook, on Tuesday and came away convinced “that Jay no longer has any desire to play for the Denver Broncos.”

It’s a sad day indeed. Hopefully this is all just a bad April Fools joke. Where will Cutler land? Who will take over the reigns?

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money: Link Ambassador

McD let his pride get in the way. And he was incredibly hubris. But who knows. This is probably karma for getting Elway from Baltimore.

Does anybody else think that Bus Cook is screening Jays calls?

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    T-Money,

I wish I had the flash skills to make an animated video called “A Day in the Life of Bus Cook. In this video the dialogue would go like this,

Jay: Was the my phone ringing?
Bus: No no no Jay that was the… microwave, it set it to sound like your ringtone.
Jay: The microwave plays me “lets go broncos” ringtone?
Bus: Actually no it plays “Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems” now.

  • Ant

FIRE MC. DANIELS. He just screwed up the one thing the Broncos had going for them was a good young offense the the ability to grow and become even better. Cutler did throw a lot of INTS at critical times, but lets not forget. He had NO DEFENSE & NO RUNNING BACKS. When QB’s press they all throw a few picks trying to do too much.
HERE WE ARE AT SQUARE ONE. AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NathanH

I hope this gets done in the next couple days at the most and doesn’t get dragged out til the draft. We need to solve this and move forward.

  • jcampb72

    haha

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money: Link Ambassador

    1-2-3-4 Bus Cook deserves more……………money

    God I hate that man

  • privers17

I always knew this little girl would leave my division

  • Daihan

Hahahahaha! The RAIDERS are going to own you clowns now. Hahahahaha! The BRONCOS are dysfunctional. First, they fire Shanahan; second, they hire a snot nose coach and; third, Pro-Bowler Cutler is on his way to a new team. What a joke! You guys won’t see the playoffs for years to come. Hahahahaha! GO RAIDERS!!!

  • Kimbo

Let the cry baby go to Detroit or Cleveland and get his butt kicked. If he is gonna cry his way out of town then #6 will prove he will never be a #7.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

I think the Denver Broncos need to have a press conference to clear the air and let everyone know the issues. I dont want to hear Cutler talk … I want Bowlen and McD to talk and tell us what happened.

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    Ant,

Square 1 is the Lions, square 2 is the Rams, we are at least square 3.

  • jcampb72

I am going to hate jay’s first interview as a new player of another team. But I doubt I’ll watch it.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

We are not back to square one, lets see how this all plays out … ahh its so frustrating to assume with Cutler we would return to glory and without him we are doomed.

No one has any patience anymore, if we as fans don’t. How can anyone blame Bowlen for firing Cutler… if 10 calls were not returned then you fire him… end of story … Bowlen is not gonna kiss anyone’s ass … this is HIS TEAM … I’d do the same thing. I just hope they get it done fast … so we begin to forget the non playoff years known as the Cutler Era..

  • jcampb72

We should have been at square 5, I believed all we need was a defense. Now I don’t know what to believe.

  • jcampb72

(dee) do you honestly think we have a better shot at getting to the playoffs with a rookie or someone like quinn?

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money: Link Ambassador

    no. I dont

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    East

We will be fine, Bowlen brought in McDaniels to win now. You dont fire Mike Shanahan if you really believe that you are rebuilding and will only win 5-6 games in 2009, that makes no sense. You bring in McD because you want a change in direction (ie GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS) something that had not happened in a few years. Also if Bowlen felt that Cutler was not going to buy into the system McD set out to “WIN GAMES” then rather than him being a distraction to the team in 2009 it is better to trade him and get someone in here that “WANTS TO BE APART OF THE TEAM” and also wanted to help them “WIN GAMES”

This will not be a rebuilding year, you dont eat 21 million dollars on an ex coach just to go thru a rebuilding year and also pay a new coach 2-3 million dollars… Bowlen is a businessman and that isnt good business.

The Broncos will win this year, if I am wrong all of you can go at me all you want, but I believe in this organization and McD…. McD is an arrogant SOB and I believe so is Cutler …. MCD isnt planning on going 4-12 this year and watch Cutler play in the playoffs and then have media bury him…. It’s only April 1, the only fools today are all of us Bronco Fans that felt Cutler would become the next Elway when we had all the warning signs that he would not.

The Broncos will be back in 2009 , the Broncos WILL win , and McD will prove to all the naysayers wrong.

WATCH , WAIT , LISTEN …. The New Broncos are coming … August 09

    ALL READY !
    GO BRONCOS

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    jcampb ,

Perhaps not a rookie, but I believe we could be a playoff team with Brady Quinn running McD’s system which he was very familiar with at Notre Dame.

However, Matt Ryan and Flacco both took their teams to the playoffs as rookie’s so anything can happen. Flacco had a great defense , Matt Ryan had an OK defense, and above average RB and 1 good receiver … but hey didnt we beat them?

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

I was being facetious with the square 3 comment. You can’t really measure success in squares because well… they’re shapes.

All we can do is wait and watch. Hell at least this makes work/class more interesting for all of us.

  • Tim

I’ve always been a Bronco Fan First. Some trades I am disapointed in and some trades I think are great. Losing a quarterback like Jay Cutler is certainly disapointing, and this one borders on ridiculous. One thing I’ve learned about McDaniels is he is definitely a New England guy whether he has a place here is definitely a big ? mark. Jay Cutler is abandoning his team and is behaving like a big baby. Pat Bowlen wanted to run the team and look where it got him. I hope he has to Pay Shanahan for the next three years, and I think that supporting the Broncos is something that I will not enjoy as much even when they are losing because of the bad decisions they are making. Cutler to the Super Bowl, the race is on for the Broncos. I think Jay can turn a team around quicker than McDaniels or Bowlen ever will. I hope I am wrong

  • jcampb72

    Gotta love your enthusiasm.

  • Katch22

I don’t know about you guys but I’m happy old Pat finaly grew a pair and made the move. I will miss Cutler but I love the team more than any one player so I’m on board for whatever. I hope we get a smoking deal!

  • NathanH

I’m glad Cutler is on his way out. Not a leader.

  • Stav

Let’s all remember that its the jersey we root for, not the player. Later Cutler, may the gods of football land you in Detroit or St. Louis where you will find out how good you had it with your old O-Line. Get ready to be hit 7 times a game. Try dropping back and holding the ball for four seconds behind one of those shitty lines.

Let’s brace for the sub .500 record we’ll have in 2009 but look forward to all the pics we’ll have this year and next year for improvement. This will be a process and unfortunately we need to give McD a mulligan for 2009 as East suggests. I’m guessing 6-10/7-9 will give us the 4-8 pick next year, atleast that’s quality especially if we have another team’s #1 for next year also. This year will be rough, but it’ll be about developing talent for the next season and beyond. we could hope for 8-8 in 2010, but in year 3 of the McDaniels Empire, if there’s not 10 wins on the board, he’s out. That’s just the basic facts people. Bowlen is going to give McD a shot at making this work and with Cutler gone that means rebuild to an extent.

  • Ant

What I meant was square 1 Qb wise. Brady Q would be a good option. I sure don’t like Chris Simms as our Qb

  • Katch22

    ANT,

I agree with you about Quinn. He might be great for us in McD system and he’s young with alot of upside.

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    Ant,

I agree, I like Simms as a backup but thats about it for me. Quinn is a good prospect and so is Trent Edwards from the Bills, he’s highly underrated.

  • jcampb72

As a fan, I will neither accept nor envision a mulligan. Anything less than .500 is unacceptable. We had a winning team as of yesterday morning.

  • Stav

Dee – Bowlen ate 21 million on Shanny so he could have a say in his teams directions again and the fact that Shanny had no clue how to draft/pick out defensive players. As much as I would have liked, you can’t make a man King and then ask him 15 yrs later to switch to Prince if it isn’t working out. Unfortunately, I see an 8-8 team at the best this year, and realistically a 7-9 team. You don’t remove a ProBowl centerpiece and improve, especially at the QB spot. Yes the defense is improved, but who knows by how much until they hit the field, and certainly not enough to make up for a huge drop in the offense. But we’ll see what McD can do with what he has at QB, we’ll see how Simms does, just no one expect 18-10 and 3,000 yds from him. That’s magic.

  • jcampb72

*had a team capable of winning*

  • Stav

2009 – Cutler’s gone, Scheffler will be gone apparently, and Marshall will be gone for atleast six games. How can we possibly replace this production and be a winning team? I don’t see that possible.

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    jcampb,

Every team is capable of winning, otherwise you wouldn’t be in the NFL. Some years it whether it’s the chemistry, the management, or the lack of desire from the players it just doesn’t work out.

I agree that it’s not acceptable to be below .500 from a fan’s eyes. However, I believe unless you have your resume ready to be sent to Dove Valley then all you can do is just brace for impact and be thankful you’re not a fan of the Lions.

  • RT

I worked hard to fall in love with our new franchise QB…loved the talent no question, not the erratic bad decision making, but he was young, but he always was a bit of a baby…I am sad to see him go and hope we can get a new guy in the door who will be a CHAMPION like good ole John, not a whiner and a mope that acts like a 2nd grade girl that got left at the square dance. Those we once loved we tend to hate when they wrong us. He took his anger at McDaniel’s and punished Denver fans. Would not be surprised if he loved the media attention…knows he’ll get more with a trade. Screw him. The bitter part of me hopes he ends his a career in obscurity the other “better” side hopes he doesn’t waste his talent being a choking whiner. Which lets be honest, he did show signs of being a choker late this last season.

  • jcampb72

Capable of winning a super bowl.

  • Gundwane

I don’t understand why Cutler is not drooling over wanting to play with a coach who has proven he can develop Quarterbacks into the Elite players in the league. When it was first announced that McDaniels was the Denver coach I thought it was not a good match for Jay Cutler. McDaniels success has to do with the quarterback being Smart, making quick decisions and being consistent. Jay does not excel in any of these categories. He has a great arm and he is talented but he is not a fit for McDaniels. Jay had a pro bowl year because of two things. First he was behind an offensive line that was tops in the league. Second the offense had no run game and the game plan was designed for him to throw. Wherever Jay goes he will not have a pro bowl year in the near future. It will take him a few years to learn a new offense and he will not have the protection that he had in Denver

  • wmjfun

Send him to Detroit for a 6-pack and a rusty 1956 Chevy fender. It’s the least we can do.

J.C.’s behavior is childish and pathetic. I would rather the Broncos find a real grown up adult to lead them. Where is Jake these days?

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

Just buy some xanax and mellow if the Broncos start to get blown out by Cinnci next year.

  • Hansen

Stav – Loved the earlier analogy. As you stated, I too am a bit nervous about losing Cutler because he is a tremendous talent. And I realize we may suffer through a grueling, unproductive season which is just not fun to think about. Lets face it, there are 5 good QBs in the league and 27 teams searching for one. We currently have one. BUT….I have to say I am horny for this trade. I CANT WAIT to see what we get.

  • http://denverbroncos.com ward

i love the broncos but i wish theyd hurry up so i could get back to playing my madden

  • http://Broncotalk.net Boulder Bronco Lover

Thanks Pat Bowlen – you always said, “MY TEAM, MY TEAM”, well buddy – yes, you spent a lot of $$$ on this team, but the taxpayers also put lots of $$$ into YOUR new stadium. We here in Colorado and the Rocky Mt. area LOVE our team.

First you FIRE Shanney, then all of those other coaches, when all you had to do was to insist that Shanney just stay as the HEAD COACH.

As others have said, our defense was soooo horrid that Jay could hardly finish his cup of water after a TD, ’til the other team scored!!

  • areferee

You have an owner, numerous members of the organization, including the new head coach, you have veteran players, new free agents, college hopefuls and players yet to be signed or traded. All of these are in the mix for the business of football. The only ones being left out in all of this mixed up mess, are the same ones that are ALWAYS left out…the FANS. The fans that line up at the gate and pay the ridiculous prices; the fans, forever hopeful and loyal that never have a spokesman that carries any influence; the fans that will continue to be ignored by the owner, coach, media and highly paid players; the fans that will , just like always, be asked to sit back, shut up and let “the professionals” run the organization. Well, we’ve been sitting back, for the most part, remaining silent, and we’re watching “the professionals” run the organization, the teams hopes and the wishes of the fans right into the ground.

It’s time we turned our blind loyalty for this organization into something more useful and deserving of our time and finances. Is there anyone from Bowlen on down that gives a damn about anything other than their own bottom line. The fans are, first, last and ALWAYS, the only ones no one cares about and we only get “spin” from the organization AND the media. Witness all the events of 2009. This organization is a train wreck and eventually, the fans will be asked to pay the price for it all…just like always.

  • ChiefsFan

Paving the road for the Chiefs to be the AFC West Champs next year! Norv and Al will take care of the other teams in the West. How sweet it is. I know I’ll hear it from you guys but how great it is to revel in someone else’s misery. And you guys are all correct Cutler=whiner, McD=IDIOT

  • Greg Sandoval

Do you think we can talk elways son into being our starting qb ill bet he is more grown up then crybaby jay

Chris Mortensen reports. Asked by text message whether Bowlen has directly tried to contact him, Cutler replied, “No.”

His agent, Bus Cook, said the Broncos first got in touch with him on Tuesday.

“The perception that they’ve been burning the phone lines the last 10 days is wrong,” Cook said. “In fact, the other day I asked Jay if he had heard from them and he said, ‘no.’ I didn’t hear from them until yesterday [Tuesday] morning when [GM] Brian Xanders called me and said that Mr. Bowlen needs to speak with Jay now. I told him all I can do is leave Jay a message.

Xanders is the problem…………………. read the rest of the article Bowlen never called he had his new asst. do it

Jay Cutler reportedly intended to show up for the Broncos’ first minicamp April 17-19 despite not communicating with coach Josh McDaniels or owner Pat Bowlen.

Cutler reportedly was surprised by Bowlen’s statement Tuesday after already shipping his car from Nashville to Denver. Of course, he wouldn’t respond to Bowlen’s requests to talk, so he can’t be too shocked. Cutler texted Tuesday that “he’s not talking about it.”

  • John B

I remember another young QB who acted like a baby and didnt want to play for baltimore whne they drafted him!! How’d he turn out? McDaniels has sent this team into a tailspin, im not even looking forward to football now. This is an absolute nightmare. A team should never be about a coach.

  • Broncoholic

T: Did you read about the Broncos response to that story that Cook & Cutler told the MSM about how Bowlen didn’t try to contact him until Tue & that Bowlen had not been trying to call Jay for 10 days?

In a statement released last night by the Broncos, team owner Pat Bowlen said that “numerous attempts to contact Jay Cutler in the last 10 days, both by head coach Josh McDaniels and myself, have been unsuccessful.”

Cutler’s camp says that’s just not so.

Sources close to Culter told NFL.com senior columnist Thomas George today that the quarterback contends he has not received any such calls from the Broncos.

Sources close to Bowlen responded to George in five words: “We have the phone records.”

  • Broncoholic

Crook & Cuntler seem to be the one’s lying and spreading mistruths this whole way. They have trumped this whole ordeal up to get what they wanted from the time Shanny was canned, which was to get out of Denver. Why would they want this, b/c Bowlen fired the man who was going to make Cutler a very, very rich man this off-season. Instead Bowlen fires Shanny and a new coach comes to town who has different priorities than giving Cutler his huge payday. Priorities like building a SB contender. Everyone who is mad at Bowlen or McD has been duped by Cook at each step. Things are not always what the MSM reports as true. Cook, on behalf of Cutler, has played almost all of us for fools, through this whole ordeal. Bottom line, the Broncos wanted Cutler to be their QB. The reason he is getting traded is not b/c of Bowlen, or McD, or GM X. It is b/c Cutler didn’t want to be a Bronco. The Owner has a right to fire the HC. That doesn’t give the QB the right to cry about it and demand a trade.

  • Patrick

Being born and raised a die hard Broncs fan I have defended the Broncos through thick and thin like so many other fans out there. Bowlen you have destroyed one of the greatest franchises in football history. First you bring in a young screw up like McDaniels and now you are letting the best QB the Broncs have had since Elway go. I will always be a Broncos fan. Its in my blood but the day Cutler comes back with whatever team he is playing for, I hope he kicks our ass. Cutler ain’t innocent in this, but McDaniels is far from a leader. You destroyed a team that was going to make it to the top. I speak for thousands of Bronco fans out there. Bowlen sell the team so that we can keep what little we have left. Then we can fire that pathetic excuse for a coach. McDaniels lied to Cutler from the start. Instead of fixing the mistake you made of hiring him, you let it go all the way. This is one Bronco fan who will always wear his Cutler jersey. McDaniels I give you two years tops.
