Per CBS4 Denver (I know, It’s not Adam Schefter) Jay Cutler and Tony Scheffler will not show up to the first team meeting. Early this weekend Josh McDaniels and Cutler sat down and talked face to face but apparently it just made the situation worse. Actually according to Mike Klis (again, not Adam Schefter), both McDaniels and Cutler “exchanged words.” The article quotes Pat Bowlen and further elaborates,

“I’m very disappointed,” Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said Sunday. “I’m disappointed in the whole picture, not just disappointed that we might lose our star quarterback.”

Asked to clarify, Bowlen said he is steadfastly supporting his new coach and his disappointment lies in the way Cutler has handled the situation.

Jay Cutler and Tony Scheffler are both represented by agent Bus Cook.

Monday could be a sad day for Denver fans and a happy one for Bus Cook.

I hate this and I wish we could keep Cutler but since it looks like he is as good as gone:

Brady Quinn for Broncos QB 2009!!!! (But I’d still like to keep Cutler.)

  • Richard

I guess the next move(or non move ) happens after tomorrow at 8 am. Would be a shame to lose a talented player, ( or two) but this is about adult things( multimillion dollar contracts) and not childish things( McD hurt my feelings, sniff).

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

I agree, lose Cutler (if we have to) Get Brady Quinn!

  • Richard

Garrett I agree .but its time to understand business, and Cutler doesn’t. If Buzz Crook is behind this, and Cutler goes along with it, then goodbye Jay hope you have an Offensive line in Detroit. Hey Tony, see ya.

  • myerda00

When Pat Bowlen speaks Denver fans should listen. Jay Cutler is done in Denver.
Coach McDaniels can coach up a decent QB. I am not sure Chris Simms is that QB. Brady Quinn seems to have all the intangibiles.
Cutler for Quinn and a second round draft choice.

  • http://www.milehighreport.com/2009/3/12/795248/breaking-more-cutler-mcdan WhidbeyBronco

My goodness! Does anybody miss Shanny as much as I do? @$#%$# Nice management! Cutler get your ass in their and take charge! If we get Quinn and a second for Cutler I’m going rifle shopping! lol Everybody goes then! Jay, Bowlen, McDaniels… Why should I have to sit through another bullshit season when we WERE GETTING SO CLOSE!!

  • Danish

Indeed. Tony’s a top-5 recieving TE. When healthy anyway. And Cutler might, if he walks, become the highest paid player ever. I think he has that kind of potential.

  • http://www.milehighreport.com/2009/3/12/795248/breaking-more-cutler-mcdan WhidbeyBronco

Jay Cutler and Tony Scheffler are both represented by agent Bus Cook
Oh yeah, 1st on the people that need a big sh#t taken on their heads list!
    Bus Crook.

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

Danish I think you hit the nail on the head.

“Cutler might, if he walks, become the highest paid player ever.”

It seems like Team Jay Cutler (Bus Cook and Jay) have been trying like hell to get out of Denver. So if he wants out so be it, I don’t want the second coming of Jeff George on my team.

  • http://www.milehighreport.com/2009/3/12/795248/breaking-more-cutler-mcdan WhidbeyBronco

Dee? Got that Crow cooking for me? I’m almost mad enough to eat it raw!

  • Fan From Spain

ha! good luck Cutler going to the Titans or the Bears.. we had enough of you in Denver. Go play for Detroit and mope on the sidelines all season long.
And McD you really f-uped, if you think the fans are going to be nice to you your rookie year, your wrong.
like if these 2 a-holes read this blog.

  • Richard

mrerdaOO its horse trading time, and I think Jay Cutler to Detroit for #1 and # 20 of the first round. Should the trade be with Cleveland, their first #5 and Brady Quinn. Nobody starts a negotiation at less than face value. Trust me, I’ve been involved in imillion dollar deals. Cutler and his agent have screwed up if they were trying to leverage this deal. There’s 3 years left on the deal and there’s no “no trade clause” in his contract. He and Crook have screwed themselves.

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

How about Cutler and Scheffler to Browns for Quinn, DT Rogers, and 1st rounder (#5). Now we’re talking!

  • Fan From Spain

Quinn would be great, atleast a QB with class

  • Richard

RVG10 Now you’re thinking. If Cutler’s goal is to be the highest paid, then let someone else make that mistake. As Broncos fans we want success.

WidbeyBronco Screw the crow, you were only standing up for what you thought was right. Leave the personal attacks behind, you have something to contribute, should you choose to do that.

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

How could this be a sad day tomorrow, given that he doesnt show? No trades are going to be made until draft day, a lot can happen before than…..such as they quit bitching and make up.

  • MIAbronco

i cant wait for quinn to be a bronco, cause im pretty sure the broncs will get a tremendous discount on myoplex products

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

MIAbronco haha. “My workout isn’t over until I’ve had a Myoplex shake. (crushes can) Now I’m done!” super-lame commercial

  • http://broncomadness.com Garrett Barnes

Am I the only one who sees this running into Training Camp??? I think what will happen is we will say: “Jay Cutler will not be traded at all.” while Jay whines and bitches until as we go behind the medias backs and try to find potential suitors and then trade him away to the highest bidder before training camp is out. Maybe it is just me, but that is what I see happening. Anybody else see this?

  • NathanH

If he doesn’t show then he’s not the man or leader that I thought he was. I really still think he will and the media just wants a story. But if he’s a no show, he can get the f out. The QB is the leader of the team and a leader leads by example. Not showing up isn’t the exampe to set at all. If he’s traded, I hope we get some great value for him and I’ll support that, If not he better get his act together real quick.

  • MIAbronco

is it me or does brady quinn always look sound and look like he’s fighting back tears

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

yeah, but Cutler looks like he doesn’t even know where he is most of the time too

  • Richard

Joe As the Rolling Stones put it “Its all over now!”. When Pat Bowlen says its over, the Fat Lady has Sung. Orera Over, Folks.

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

    Richard-
Pat Bowlen did not say its over though. He said that he is sad that they MIGHT lose their starting QB…..Theres still a chance that he stays.

  • Richard

NathanH I couldn’t agee more.(as usual). The benchmark for leadership at the QB position is still Craig Morton checking out of the hospital to play a football game! Compare that to Cutler being mentioned in trade talks with a new head coach who doesn’t know him from Adam.

  • Richard

Joe I understand what Pat said, and I also understand that Pat has big bucks on this bet. One of the first things you learn in big business is understatement.

  • Sabo

What a disaster. I couldn’t have imagined a worse offseason. I was with Cutler on this debate until this weekend, but now I agree with Richard: Cutler’s done. Do you think McD, in his first year coaching, wants to drag out this circus until training camp? At the end of the day, whether I’m right or wrong, McD will win. As a 32-year old coach, he can’t afford to look weak.

  • MIAbronco

lets make this new transition easy for all of us and trade our jay cutler to the IBBF for the other jay cutler

  • http://www.google.com T-Money

    Joe-

I like the optimism but even me…(deep breath) thinks Jay’s leaving. If there is any truth to this whole situation… which it sounds like there is. It’s probably a 80% chance that Cutler either demanded a new contract or a trade.

If he leaves he’ll commit career suicide and regret it. Plus Brandon will follow. and probably tony.

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

    Miabronco-

I’ll take that. I’m sure he can throw a football (LOL) if he does not pop it when he firsts grabs it……Than I would also like to see anyone call him a whiny bitch….

  • BroncoinVA9986

I would love to have brady Quinn…oh a Fn $240 dollars worth of JAY CUTLER jersey…I want to send him the Bill for those that Jerk.. Not happy right now guys…but nothing is definite till 10:00(ET) well lets cross our fingers….I am officially taking MCD side.. Most of us were broncos fans before Cutler and we Will continue to be Bronco fans after he is gone……no man is bigger than the Broncos…..punching out guys

  • MIAbronco

brandon i doubt will follow, cause i know he has no loyalty to anyone but the almighty dollar and smacking around the ol gf

  • Richard

Sabo you are correct about McD. When Bowlen actually makes a public statement, its THE LAW. Pat is, and has always been, frightened by the press and has remained out of it as is his right to. If anything McD will get a free pass from Bowlen to do what is neccessary. It’s only my opinion, but overall McD has done what he has had to do. Cutler and Crook forced this.

  • CJ

Im dont like the idea of Cutler leaving. But it keeps sounding like it more every day. I softened my thoughts and realized why would we want a quarterback who is so selfish. i mean John Elway was in trade rumors and he didnt go out bitching like a little baby! Jay needs to get over himself. I thought i liked Jay Cutler as a quarterback off the field but sounds like hes worse than philip rivers! if you told me i said that 1 month ago i would have slapt you right across the face. If we get rid of Jay we need to get a high draft pick in return if we did make the trade at least we would have gotten a quarterback who has played in mcd system and won in.

message to Jay_ Stay in denver and potentially win a super bowl or go to detroit and be a back up in 3 years just like your buddies vince young and matt lienert

  • http://www.milehighreport.com/2009/3/12/795248/breaking-more-cutler-mcdan WhidbeyBronco

Joe’s optimism is actually well founded. If only because we won’t get a fair trade for Cutler & he’s a month or so from the draft as well as any mandatory meetings.
It’s looking rough though. I’m getting this sick feeling in my stomach that may last for a few seasons if this goes poorly…
    God save the Broncos!

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

    T-Money

Ya man I hope he stays. It would be a drag to see him gone. I know this is more than a one man team, but damn, when he is your favorite player on the team….This is hard. I would always go to DenverBroncos.com after every Sunday game and watch his interviews. He is my favorite player. I just dont know if I could follow the Bronco’s, at least for this season, if he is gone. I think I would just not care anymore…(Man that is EXTREMLY hard to say)

But also, do you think that if he shows up tomorrow, he will stay?

  • Sabo

If he shows up tomorrow, I think he will probably stay. Not showing up is the nail in the coffin.

  • http://www.milehighreport.com/2009/3/12/795248/breaking-more-cutler-mcdan WhidbeyBronco

Damn this shit is freaking stupid. I don’t really know if I want to care this much! Do you think Coach, Owner and QB are tripping as much as we are?
    They BETTER be!

  • Brent

Jay Cutler has now justified any consideration the Broncos gave when looking at trade scenarios – what McDaniels and the team should do for any player if it makes us better. It is now apparent to me that Cutler and his agent are behind any of the inaccurate information regarding this story. This has been a ploy by Cutler and his agent from the beginning, namely, to seek a new deal or find a way to get out. His immature responses off the field mirror his immature actions on it. He won’t take coaching and he is trying to appear as the innocent victim in all of it. He has 3 options: 1) Stand up like a man and tell us what this is really about (money); 2) Grow up immediately and stay as our QB (Mr. Under .500); or trade his butt for a quality young QB and picks!

  • Nicole

Greetings from Texas! Looks like we’re back to square one. He’s not going anywhere… he’ll be there (maybe not the meeting). In order to trade him, you will give up more than Jay and Josh may not like Marshall’s off the field problems, but he can ball. A number one draft pick and Brady Quinn won’t do (I’ve seen it all with the Cowboys). releasing him isn’t an option either-there isn’t anyone to take his place. A good old fashion kick in the rear end always helps- see he loves to play so let him stay angry and make him compete for the job. Just watch that anger manifest to competition and you will get results. Josh will use the contract to his advantage and Jay will have to work or else risk losing his starting job. You guys/gals are not used to such crazy behavior, but COWBOY fans are. I’ve seen this trick before. mcDaniels isn’t crazy, why do you think that agreed to talk at a later time? Stir the pot, get the results. Drag it right into camp and get his blood pumping…McDaniels must have been watching a little Jimmy Johnson stuff!

  • Wilde1

I think the “Buzz Crook” moniker sums it up. In the latest DP article, “… according to a source close to Cutler, the quarterback didn’t like what he heard” at Monday’s meeting. Now who do YOU think was the source? And “Cutler has insisted that until his situation gets resolved, all conversation with Broncos officials must include Crook”.
Looks like Buzz has convinced Jay that this is his big chance for the record-setting contract, with or without the Broncos. If Jay struggles learning Denver’s new offense this year, goodbye All-Pro status and the leverage that brings. Crook’s history shows that he doesn’t give a sh*t what happens to his client’s team or reputation, just the size of the paycheck. If Jay goes along for the get-rich-now ride, $2 million buys a heck of a mansion in Detroit.

  • jcampb72

Theres no way Bowlen wants a #1 pick for stafford. Its just not salary cap smart, especially when jays getting paid like 1.5 mill this year. I would be suprised if hes traded. Ok let cutler cry all he wants, but he has to play. If hes got any ballz at all he would accept this whole thing as a challenge. I don’t care if he won’t play for a coach, he needs to play for the Broncos.

  • jcampb72

Cutler is not Jeff George. Get off the Plummer bandwagon. However, jeff george and jay have one thing in common, good qbs with shitty defenses. I don’t care about jay’s record as a qb. It must be nice (Big Ben) having the number 1 defense in the league. Cutler would have won 2 by now too. Also, its Cutlers 3rd year. Are you going to tell me cutler can’t win the big game? no. I remember someone who was dubbed that they can’t win the big game too, and then he won 2, back to back! Lets lay off the Jeff George stuff its ridiculous.

  • Richard

Nicole Love girls (Pardon Me Madam, LADIES)from Texas (Howareyou) I appreciate your sentiments, but Jays leaving, for two reasons, First, Pat Bowlen is not Jimmy Johnson, (He’s a Canadian via Wisconsin) and he failed to return Pat Bowlen’s phone calls. Mega screw up there. By the way, that kick in the ass is on the way. But it will come, directly. Should he choose NOT to be present Monday Morning, hes gone. No more more BS, no more whining, no more “sources close to the situation” leaks. Unlike Jimmy Johnson,Pat Bowlen isn’t an Arkansas wanabee. ( Texans KNOW the Difference).

  • rcsodak

lmao! Cutler IS turning into another Jeff George! Both have strong arms, with nothing between their ears!
Cutler is being told by every sports pundit out there, that’s not bus cook, to shut up, man up, and play football to the best of his abilities!
Problem is, he’s got those damn headphones on, and all he’s hearing is bus cook repeating: be a dick….be a dick….be a dick….

I said cutler was a bad choice, and he’s just proving me right.
Anybody that gets tackled by a campus cop, can’t be that good of qb.
    lol
Maybe they can trade him for a number one next year, and Xanders can grab Bradford. He’d excel in McD’s scheme!

  • BroncoinVA9986

I don’t know if anybody wants cutler….I mean his talent yes….but your looking at the next TO

  • rcsodak

There’s a reason Cutler is one of the least liked players in the league.
He’s a dick that thinks he’s bigger than the game.
I think his diabetes was a wakeup call from God, and he’s ignoring it.
Karma has a bad way of sneaking up on you and kicking your arse! He should be careful for what he wishes for.

  • BroncoinVA9986

    a breath of fresh air……Dawkins interview http://www.denverbroncos.com/

  • rcsodak

    BroncoinVA9986,
in case you didn’t notice, TO wasn’t unemployed for a week….and ended up getting a raise out of his ‘firing’.

Teams always think they “can change” problem childs. How many times did Shanny think that…..and lose? Too many to count.

  • Richard

rcsodak Cutler wasn’t a bad choice, he will be worth a first AND a player. Othe than that, you’re correct.
