WOW! He really needs to stop acting like a 5 year old!

What have we learned from listening to CBS4 whether or not it’s Reggie, Vic, or Gary. Wait for the rest of the story to develop and then jump to conclusions.

I can’t believe this, what more can the Broncos do? Cutler refused to speak with the person that signs his cheques? This is only my opinion but it seems to me that Cutler has given up on the Broncos and wants out…. He doesn’t like the new coach, the defense hasn’t been fixed, and Marshall is gone for 8 games… He wants out.

Are Cutler’s true colors coming out? Is the McD fiasco just what Cutler needed to jump ship? Blowing off the team owner is one way to get fired/traded.

I’m only giving my opinion without any other facts, that being said I may be wrong.

My boss is your average good kind of boss to work for. I’m very well aware that his word is law but he doesn’t feel it necessary to flaunt this. He is considerate of my pride and my feelings. If he wasn’t, I’d find another boss. Especially as I am a valuable employee and expect to be treated as such. Is this childish?

Cutler is starting to piss me off. Grow up you baby. Either he’s doing this because he wants a new contract or because he is just a baby. It just shows that Shanahan had no discipline whatsoever in the locker room and that Jay was free to do what he wanted , which is probably the reason why he turns the fuckin ball over so much. Jay it’s time to grow this is a business and your record is 17-20 for crying out loud.

So our sub .500 quarterback is still upset because the owner and head coach didn’t rush to greet him with open arms? Big surprise. If you would have asked me three months ago if Cutler should be on the trading block, I would have said, “NO WAY.” But now, with all that has happened (our 3 game skid at the end of last season, failing to make the playoffs, Cutler’s reaction to McD, Cutler’s reaction to being trade bait), I’ve changed my tune.

Pay close attention to the next few months, especially as we get closer to the draft. Expect a draft day surprise that may have Chris Simms starting at QB with a rookie QB being drafted.

Damn people let their emotions get in the way of good judgement. Seriously, trade a pro-bowl QB for an unproven rookie who, if you have been listening you would know, his knock is his decision making…sound familiar? I refuse to judge anyone based off of an unnamed “source close to the situation”. When I hear from McD or Cutler, I will decide how I feel then. Hypocrites on the site want to lynch Cutler, based solely on their emotions, because he has emotions of his own. Wait for the facts to come out before jumping To conclusions.

Interesting article. Focusing on what McD told Cutler, (made it clear to the quarterback how the team will be run) what we see is the Belichick way – All business, take no crap from the players. Frankly, I like it and I think its needed. Say what you will about Spygate etc, this new attitude in Denver is much needed and Cutler seems to be responding in a less-than-professional way. Men rise up to such a challenge, understanding their role. Sadly, Cutler is not responding as a man. Now if he is traded I will be suspect and nervous of who takes the reins, but the boy needs to toughen up. McD mishandled this situation to a certain extent, but I like how he is establishing where he is in regards to the Broncos.

This doesnt sound like that bad of a conversation. Its the first meeting since this whole fiasco started and id imagine it would be awkward. McD reiterated that cutler will not be traded. If cutler didnt know that he would continue to be evaluated its time he heard that. Did he expect bowlen to crown him “QB for life”…I think bowlen has learned his lesson about giving employees life long contracts. It is McD’s team and he does need to make that clear. I dont think its a good idea to ignore Bowlen. Cutler may not be happy but he has to communicate with the owner. That is a guaranteed one way ticket out of town. I am a huge fan of Cutler and still think McD was taking crazy pills to even think about trading him but if this story has any truth to it and cutler is NOT over this by OTA’s (next week) I may start to reconsider Cutler’s future in denver. The first meeting between these 3 guys is done and Cutler gets a couple of days to let it pass and get it out of his head. But this needs to be over by Mar 16th.

Why do we have to keep going over this? YOU HAVE TO HAVE TRUST BETWEEN HEAD COACH AND QB. McDaniels refuses to confirm or deny that he sought out trades with other teams, Cutler has a right to be pissed until McDaniels acts like a man and gets honest.

So tell me all of you who keep saying Cutler is a baby and needs to grow up; how does he move past this until McDaniels continues to lie? Where is the trust? Where is the respect. I don’t think I’m “desperate for drama.” You can say all you want about “what we don’t know.” The fact is what we do know is that Cutler blew off the owner of the franchise, and that is completely unacceptable. I’m not sure how you overlooked that tidbit right there.

What can you say about Cutler? He bit the hand that feeds. Bowlen signs all of his paychecks and he straight snubbed him. Cutler thinks he’s Jesus H Christ right now and that’s poison to any team. NFL.com confirmed that Cutler refused to take Bowlen’s calls till Monday, but he can sure take his money whenever he wants. I’m not saying you are but, how can you possibly stand behind a QB like that?

I think you were confusing “the boss” with McDaniels instead of Pat Bowlen. I understand your analogy of your boss respecting you and treating you as a valuable member of the team, but you don’t get payed a few million to do what you do. Professional athletes are held to a higher standard like politicians whether they like it or not.

It doesn’t matter what position you play or how many freaking Super Bowls you’ve won. If the owner calls you, you get back with him as soon as you can. The fact that Cutler wouldn’t respond to Pat Bowlen speaks about his character.

You couldn’t be farther from the truth. McDaniels is progressing the team and Cutler is living in his “me first” world. Whether he means to or not Jay Cutler is tearing apart the franchise. You do not see McDaniels making childish comments to the media, but of course you just say he’s lying, where it’s having tact. Cutler is trying to act like he runs the team, and he doesn’t.

It doesn’t matter what happened 2 weeks ago it’s about the now. Cutler needs to shut the hell up and do what it takes to improve.

Enough ifs? I trust the media (sports or otherwise) like I would trust Bernie Madoff with my life savings, but IF Cutler, McD, GmX and Bowlen’s conversation really went down this way, I have two points to make:

1. Cutler is cutting his own throat. He hasn’t reached T.O.’s lofty standards of assinine behavior, but he’s starting to act like him. I don’t live in Denver, but it strikes me that (even before this mess) Cutler has a shaky reputation in the Mile High City that’s not getting any better. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but IF THIS IS TRUE (I can’t say it enough), he’s going to talk his way out of a contract, with Denver or whoever else. I love his physical gifts, but he needs to shut the hell up.

2. Josh McDaniels is taking back this team. I thought Shanahan had a decent level of control over his players, but I’m thinking that in the last few years, he let the inmates run the asylum. I’m going to sound like an old fart, but the head coach is the man in charge. Those of you who love Cutler are going to hate hearing it, but it’s true: McDaniels is the guy Bowlen hired and he’s not going anywhere. McD needs to gain control and it starts at the top with #6.

Mr. East is right on the money with this one. This is basic management. McD is younger than 1/3 of his roster. Cutler needs to zip it and play football. He doesn’t have to like his coach. McD is systematically trying to assert & gain control of the team. That’s what he’s being paid to do. Everyone needs to fall in line to turn this thing around. My guess is the veterans might side with his tactics. I just hope Cutler sees the light and makes himself & the rest of the team champions again.

I am sure that the conversation would have been much different had Cutler come in or took a confrence call when it was requested of him A WEEK AGO. I don’t know about anyone else, but if I refused a request like that from my boss, you could bet your ass I would be out of a job. Maybe Cutler should go and work at a homeless shelter for awhile to put his priveledged life into perspective. I really hate it when someone takes their position in life for granted when there are so many that have to go without. A little humility goes a long way.

Why should I address your point? You have no proof that McDaniels tried to trade Cutler. All McDaniels and Xanders have said is that they never intended trading him.

I do believe McDaniels was interested in trading Cutler and I don’t blame him for it one bit. Cutler is a player and players can be traded. Do I agree with McDaniels? No. Cutler can be miffed just like Sharpe said when he heard about his trade but he needs to get over it and win. Whether it is a dumb choice or not McDaniels can do what he wants and Cutler has no room to get angry about it, especially not in the form of not picking up Bowlen’s calls. DO NOT TRADE Cutler for Anderson or Stafford or Grossman or anyone else that would make Simms the starter. A pissed off Cutler will still play 10 times better than any of these losers. Cutler needs/will play for denver this year. If we only win 2 games in ’09 then we can have this conversation a year from now. I’m really starting to wonder if the Castle trade fell through. What if instead the Lions offered the Broncos the 1st and 20th pick in the draft? What if the Pats leaked it because they were pissed? Wouldn’t this also further explain why Castle came so cheap? Guess it doesn’t make a lot of sense to play coy if they did, but something is fishy. I suppose we’ll have clarity when OTA’s start next week.

Not only can McDaniels do what he wants, Cutler has to be okay with it as well. Cutler was mad the whole way, don’t even try to defend him. If you want to exalt Peter King then read his report about Cutler asking for a trade. What do you think about that? Where is the trust in that relationship right there? How about when McDaniels first became the coach and Cutler blew off talking to him for a week. How is that a trustful relationship right there?

The whole point of playing in the NFL is to win a Super Bowl no matter who is around you or what they do. If you are a true professional you get the job done no matter what. Regardless of what may or may not be happening between McD and the Quarterback, the chain of command is Bowlen, then McD, then position coaches, etc. Cutler is pissed, SO WHAT. When the owner makes an effort to contact you and you stiff him twice, you need to quit being a GD child. Doesn’t matter if you’re flipping burgers or quarterbacking a football team. Whether McD messed up by talking about a trade during Free Agency, which is part of his job, is debatable. But being ignored when he an the owner tried to mend fences is UNACCEPTABLE. Should our “sensitive” qb show up on Monday he will be given the opportunity to play for this team. Should he not, SCREW HIM! Trade his ass to Detroit for their first and 20th, spend 2 minutes regretting what might have been with “the boy blunder”, and move on. When Craig Morton was quarterbacking our team during our first superbowl run, I remember him being checked into a hospital after leaving the field at the end of the game. He remained there all week, checking out a few hours before the next game. Had one of his better games, won the game and went back to the Hospital for two more days. Compare and contrast his behavior with Cutler. Indeed 7(Morton’s number)> 6.

We can’t lose sight of what is really going on. Jay Cutler is a commodity is a highly competitive business known as the NFL. Sure he’s “our” QB with the golden arm, but he’s still just one piece in a larger puzzle. The moment Jay or any of us confuse his role and his place in this machine, the ever-present reality of what really drives this sport gets ready to slap it on him. Jay needs to step up, say his peace to McD and show up for work for OTA’s. That’s the only thing McD is going to respond to at this point. The reality is that McD is running the show now. He has played his hand – right or wrong. He’s now set the tone in Denver and Jay needs to see that. He needs to lay low, throw for 4,000 yards this season and 40+ touchdowns. The only point I agree with you on (though i generally DO agree with you) is that Cutler needs to return Bowlen’s calls. He will I imagine. I think he’ll be at work Monday when he’s due to be right? If my boss left messages during my vacation (especially after pissing me off) I’d feel zero obligation to get back with him til Monday.

Everyone needs to calm down, this is getting ugly. This whole thing doesn’t add up in my eyes. The media knows that Jay is emotional and has no filter on his thoughts. They love to illicit responses from him, then blow his responses way out of proportion. He feels that he is being lied to, and has a right to be angry. McD has stated from day 1 that jay was his guy and he was looking forward to working with him, then tried to pull off an underhanded deal. That being said, he needs to channel that anger into proving he is the guy we know he can be.
I don’t get where his “me first” attiude is coming from. He helps out in the community, allowed B-Marsh to stay at his pad and went over game plans and threw with him after practicing all day when he was suspended, he insisted Kerry Collins take the second spot at the pro bowl because he is a 14 year vet, then he pulls this crap? Would the real Jay Cutler please stand up?

At ESPN.com the infamous Bill Williamson said that there were 2 sources one from each side. And of course what source does he talk about about the most? Cutlers side of course!!! I’ll bet that unnamed source is probably his agent. I’m just getting f—–g tired of this whole situation!!!!!!! What they BOTH need to do is have live news conference together where McDaniels verifies that the Broncos aren’t trading Cutler. And Cutler needs to let everyone know that he is over this and he wants to put this all behind them and that he will give everyone,McDaniels,Bowlen and Bronco fans his absolute best this season.
Both sides were wrong McDaniels probably should have told Cutler that teams have been calling about trading for him,and if the right proposal comes up,we might take it! Then Cutler might not have reacted like he has! Cutler just needs to get over himself!! If Shannon Sharpe was tradeable than so could Cutler!!!! Maybe he did think that McDaniels lied to him but maybe he should have meet him face to face to get the facts straight instead of hearing it from another person. I have relationships at work with people I don’t trust to do things 100% correctly. But I have to work with them anyway, don’t I? Cutler needs to get his own house in order and deal with a mess he’s contributed to creating by piquing interest around the lead when he hinted at a trade when Shanny was fired.

Cutler can batten down the hatches and actually try to solve this thing, or he can continue dragging his feet, whining and behaving astoundingly passive aggressive about the whole ordeal.

jvill don’t be naive. People that employ YOU lie to you all the time. As an employee, you take it in exchange for that paycheck. One of the problems with Shanahan’s last years as coach was a lack of discipline, and for better or worse thats one of the things Bowlen hired McD to restore. If little Jay can’t deal with that, or won’t, then he’s GONE. And in the long run we’d be better off without him. He either grows up and acts like an adult or let him NOT ACCOMPLISH anything somewhere else, such as Detroit. See my earlier post # 56

It’s still all about the Benjamins, boys. Cutler wants to be paid. By the Broncos, or by someone else. It’s really a no lose proposition for him.

Not so good for the Broncos however. It looks like the the 2 phone calls not returned to Bowlen turned the tide. Telling your starting QB to get in line at this point will not produce good results. I think he’s long gone. And McDumbshit better be looking for a new QB.

Forget it, alot of fans will back Cutler blindly because they are hurt at the fact McD tried to trade him. In my opinion a grown ass man shouldnt pout every time something doesnt go his way. A team leader doesnt blame his defense in losses, an elite quarterback let’s his play do his talking for him… but Cutler is not elite.

I’m thinking if Cutler doesnt show up Monday, you trade him… cut the cord now. I’m so annoyed at Cutler thinking everyone has to bend over for him. Its unbelievable that so many of you want to pin Cutler 100% for the lack of playoffs. Let’s try and be rational fans who know our s**t, and not trash like the Raiders and Dolts fans, and admit that giving up 400+ points in back to back seasons was the real reason why we didn’t get into the playoffs. As I’ve said several times in different threads, when 7 rb’s go down, most offenses would just fold, Cutler is the only reason we were in the hunt for the AFC west this year. You all want to pick on Cutler, how about no pass rush, how about being gashed for big plays multiple times per game, how about revolving safeties of which none knew how to wrap and tackle. WAKE UP!!

Cutler is hyper-sensitive, a whiner, who might be seeing big change on the horizon and thinks McD is going to reel his arm back in. But his arm is a Howitzer, he can make the impossible throws, and he’s got the chip on his shoulder attitude of that QB who says: give me two minutes and the ball at the 5, we’ll get the 6pts. Its love/hate for him. We all want him to keep his mouth shut but we all want him to keep throwing those bee-bees in an orange and blue jerrsey. Out of 17-20, how many games can we honestly say he was at fault for the loss? Start looking at the other side of the ball people, Shanny (all praise due to him) had no idea what he was doing in drafting/signing defensive players.

McD, you obviously F’d up with this whole thing. How could this idiot think that Cassel is better? How could he think we’d ever get equal value back? I think what all of this bruhaha shows is, again, just how valuable Mike Shanahan really was. I think it is McD who is too impressed with himself and doesn’t know the lay of the land. Since the Broncoes are still paying him anyway, they need to cut their losses with McD and do what it takes to get Mike back, as soon as possible. Even if he is just coach and not the GM, it is logically the best solution to a rapidly deteriorating situation. Pat needs to go to McD and say,”Sorry, this just isn’t working”, give him a check and a pat on the back and show him the door! McD is not Belicheck, nor, sadly is he Shanahan.

I just watched around the horn earlier and everyone was on cutlers side except one dude. I think cowlishaw said it best if Cutler didn’t come to denver for the face to face meeting then hop on Bowlen’s private jet and go meet with him in Nashville, show him respect and I think that would have patched everything up by reaching out to jay.

Respect is a two way road. McDaniels needs to respect that Cutler is the franchise QB and Cutler needs to respect that McDaniels is the head coach and he can do what he wants.

Thanks Mr. East . . . I felt I had to lend some levity and humor to a situation that is close to becoming a real tragedy . . . if you read my blog at #72 and add Bus Cook as one of the flamethrowers, I really feel that Jay might be persuing and causing his own demise at Denver . . .

I’m hoping that he fires Bus Cook over the weekend and shows up Monday at Dove Valley . . . I do not believe he is going to find happiness or a better matched team to play with in the NFL than Denver . . . . unfortunately . . . the grass always looks greener. . . .

As a side note . . . let me add that Jay has an extraordinary opportunity presented to him . . .
