`Eia `oe to the 2008 Pro Bowl Casey Wiegmann! Pretty soon you’ll find yourself saying “Aloha au i Hawai`i!” Denver is now representing three players from their offense. I don’t know about everyone else but perhaps it will actually be fun to watch the Pro Bowl this year. Congratulations Casey I can’t wait to see #62 in shnazzy red jersey.

Press Release:

Wiegmann added to Pro Bowl

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Denver Broncos center Casey Wiegmann has been added to the AFC roster for the Pro Bowl, earning his first trip to the league’s all-star game in his 13th NFL season.

Wiegmann centered a line that set a franchise record by allowing just 12 sacks this season and was second in the league with a 396-yard average.

Wiegmann joined the Broncos as a free agent from Kansas City and earned the starting job when Tom Nalen needed season-ending knee surgery during training camp. The Broncos never missed a beat and Wiegmann’s steady leadership was credited with bringing along a young line that included tackles Ryan Harris and Ryan Clady.

Wiegmann has started 127 straight games, most among NFL centers, and taken 8,046 consecutive snaps.

Wiegmann, who is pondering retirement, joins teammates Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall as the team’s Pro Bowl selections.

I thought the afc wore red jerseys? I dont usually watch the pro bowl though haha

I’m glad to see more broncos represented. Now if Jason Peters would just drop out cause he knows he had a terrible season, we could get clady on the line like he deserves.

  • Josh

Pondering retirement??? Ahh crap. McCoach needs to needs to make keeping Wiegmann a priority. Kind of like how Shanny talked Zimmerman into hanging around during the Superbowl years.

the decider… it is red. I just can’t remember cause the last time I watched the pro bowl Jake Plummer made it as an alternate and he gave it up to Steve McNair. Wow that was awhile ago.

McDaniels needs to get McCrackin’ on signing resigning Weigmann. The McJokes probably won’t McStop for awhile– sorry.

Ian the McJokes shouldn’t McStop for McWhile.

Man I go for a whole McDay doing that.

  • Brian

Casey deserves to be heralded as our best free agent pick up since Neil Smith. Congratulations for his Pro Bowl selection. If we could only find some defensive and special team players that would show some of that same passion.

  • kerry

good job Casey. but its a travesty that Clady isnt in. Jason Peters is a joke of a LT and couldnt hold Clady’s jockstrap. sorry fellas im not throwing in the “Mc jokes” i think that was played out and old in the McCaffrey days.

jchase, this is for you – Yeah, Casey Wiegmann!

  • adam

Very cool, especially because it’s his first yet he has been plodding along for 13 years! I’m glad he and Cutler get to share that.

The team already needs to add depth to the o-line. If Mr. Weigmann retires, Liechtenstieger (we’ve got come up with a shorter nickname for this guy) could be ready to step up, or Hamilton could move over to center. Either way, with the offense likely to become pass heavy, depth on the o-line has become a higher priority in free agency and the draft.

It may be difficult to come up with a good nickname for Kory. We haven’t seen him play enough to give him a name based on his traits (see Ryan “Sweet Feet” Clady) and I would shy away from trying to adapt his name. Liechy (Leaky) won’t work (at least if it does, he won’t be on the team for long) and S-tiger is just dumb.

  • adam

I suppose there’s always room for more depth, but aren’t we deeper at O-line than anywhere?

  • dazbroncos

First of all, GREAT FORM CASEY!!!..

Second, now that you have the plaudits for the great job, get resigned for next year.
This is one of the biggest FA signings we need to get done.
Go 2 years for a low 2 mill or so…
He has earnt it and with all the coaching changes we need as much consistency as possible and leichensticher (sp_ will benenfit from watching for another year.

  • Jordan C

adam – the only players listed on the Bronco’s website as backup o-lineman are 1) Pat Murray (who?) 2) Tyler Polumbus (undrafted rookie), and 3) Erik Pears.

That’s one legit backup with pro game experience (Pears) for five positions. I think they could use some help.

    dazbroncos – totally agree.

  • dbroncos

Hopefully this inspires him to come back. I like the kid Lichtenstein (spelling) but i would much rather a proven commodity.

  • CJ

Im glad casey went to the pro bowl but Jason Peters didnt even start 16 games! ryan clady was an even better draft pick than brandon marshall if you ask me! hes gona be the next walter jones!
