Ryan CladyMy Broncos blogging brethren at MHR have been clamoring for fans to vote for Ryan Clady in NFL.com’s Pro Bowl voting for several weeks now. As the driver of the original Ryan Clady bandwagon, I’d be remiss if I did not join in the festivities. For your enjoyment, a Ryan Clady Pro Bowl Haiku, along with a second haiku, after the jump. Remember, there’s less than a week left to vote!

Nice article in the Denver post today on how Clady should be rookie of the year. Shanahan went so far as to say he might already be the best LT in the game. So it left me wondering two questions:

    1. If the NFL 2008 draft were held again today is there any doubt that Clady would be the first pick in the draft? I could not even think of an argument for anyone else, except for Atlanta and needing Matt Ryan

    2. Which LT in the NFL would I rather have than Clady? There was not one name I could think of, you keep Joe Thomas, Clady is younger and is already just as good, and has a higher ceiling.

No, Ryan, you’ve got it all wrong. Clady would be the obvious choice, but he would go later in the draft because you have to factor three things into the equation:

    1. The Lions would have the first pick (heaven knows who they’d pick)

    2. The Raiders would pick someone like a kicker with the second pick of the draft and sign him to a 3-year, $150 million contract (see DeAngelo Hall).

    3. Except for Joe Thomas in recent memory, the fat guys like us get no love on draft day.

I think my confidence in Shanahan’s personnel choices is slowly being restored. I was a little worried there, what with Maurice Clarett and all, but I think the mastermind is redeeming himself.

NOW GO OUT THERE AND KICK THE CHIEFS’ ASSES!!!

Just a thought from deep in the heart of the midwest.

Thanks for the shoutout Kyle. I wanted to go on the record to say that it was Kyle who sort of cemented me on Clady back in the draft. I was conflicted by homerism (I am a huge BSU fan) and I was buying into too many negative things being reported on Clady, even if I wasn’t seeing those things on tape.

Kyle came over to MHR, tried to reason with me, I complained a little, told him something along the lines of “I hear bad things about Clady,” and he essentially said “Ignore them.” His confidence in Clady helped me get my confidence back in Clady, and to ignore my feared homerism, and the rest is history.

I am having a blast rooting for Clady (just got my Clady jersey this week), and I have Kyle to thank for helping me get over the hurdle.

    Thanks Kyle! :)

Good times styg. As high as I was on Clady, I can’t claim I ever expected this. At least not in one year. I thought in three years of development he MIGHT be as good as he is now. I’m still floored.

Seriously folks – just go vote. Don’t read this and not vote. Read this and vote.

    Vote for Clady!
