FYI there is some thought out there amongst the people who do scouting that Larsen played MLB better than Nate Webster does.

As a fullback he played fairly poorly, to be honest. He did nothing interesting there, and had only a few snaps.

As a middle linebacker, he was quick to the ball, he showed aggressiveness (that can be taken advantage of in the future, so watch out for that) and he showed a nose for where the ball will be. He was instrumental in holding the #2 rushing offense to only 3.8 yards per carry. It isn’t the number of tackles, it’s the overall effectiveness of the defense. He, Woodyard and Winborn played together, as a team, they got their assignments right.

That is what he did, and that’s why he deserves rookie of the week, and a whole lot of accolades. I am withholding judgement on whether or not I think he should be a starter based upon his performance at Oakland and, more importantly, at New York, if he plays.

Also, to be fair, the true credit for the rush defense should go to the defensive line. Those guys are starting to get their game together. The reason the linebackers were effective is that the defensive line is getting more disciplined, they are better at holding their gaps and they keep their men contained so that the linebackers can get to the ball carriers.

Man, I hate to agree with kerry on anything, but now that I think on it, maybe we should be throwing some congratulations on Marcus Thomas, Dewayne Robertson and whoever else was playing inside for bringing the defense up to the level I thought it would be at the beginning of the season. Hmm. I should’ve kept the recording of this week’s game so I could watch the defensive line play a bit more.

This isn’t the nomination for the Heisman Trophy, Kerry. It’s just an acknowledgement of the fact that the guy STARTED on offense, defense, and special teams all in one game, and he did it during his rookie season. There’s a reason why you don’t hear about players doing that very often, as it very rarely happens. His name is now in the same company as players like Champ Bailey and Deion Sanders. No one is saying he’s the best player ever to don a uniform.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But if you’re going to have one, at least make an effort to make it an educated one.

Well he has a fair point i suppose. I can understand with the reasoning from the second post. Fair enough, he may not be great but i think you can concede Kerry that it is nice to see a player get recognition for (i dont necessarily like this cliche) doing it the right way. He was a great LB in college and we told him we might want him to change and he is doing everything O/D/ST. I just like that kind of player, regardless of skill level there have to be players like that on a team with only 53 roster spots.

complelty off topic but i thought i’d like to throw out there that jay cutler has thrown atleast one touchdown in 11 consecutive games going back to the week 17 last season pretty impressive not saying he is the best quaterback in ever but i am a big fan and i’m hoping he with atleast one for the rest of the season!! hes only 37 games away from tying marino :)

see you all have me pegged wrong. i think the guy played good. im bashing all of YOU who think he had such a stellar game. he had seven tackles, didnt throw any sort or meaningful block that allowed Bell ot Hillis to bust lose for a big gain, didnt even catch a pass out of the backfield. i think he played well. but all this “OOOHHHing” and “AAHHHing” over seven tackles is completely ridiculous. yeah he played hard, yeah he played on all three phases of the game, he did a good job, im not taking that away from him. but to sit there and call him “great” is WAY premature. i suppose all of you are gonna tell me Tatum Bell is great after his whole 34 yards rushing.

Wow, Kerry way to be pessimistic. The guy played all three positions and gives an A+ effort when he is on the field. That is what we want to reward. If we went based off stats we wouldnt have Rod Smith, a class act who gave 110% every down, only Larsen brings new meaning the the phrase “every down player”.

Its not about the tackles -, I am so sick of hearing you wine, you wine when you think Shanny had no ability to pick on the D side of the ball, and now when one of those D players shows up big (big enough for national media to sit up and take notice) you whine that he wasn't good ENOUGH, the fact is he anchored a Defense that held one of the number one RB's in the league right now to one of the lowest yard totals in his season, and that ROOKIE did it while playing both sides of the ball, and was able to get the broncos (i will say that again) THE BRONCOS to shut the run down!!!! And even make a crucial 4th down stop and at the end of a hard fought game. you need to stop with your idiotic bronco bashing and defect to the chargers once and for all, at least those fools have something to complain about this year. Well, most MLB’s don’t play Offense and Special Teams, either. If you want to get critical over 7 tackles, then you have to mind the fact that he wasn’t out there for every play as MLB. They had to give the guy a rest after working his butt off all game. Way to over analyze what someone said there kerry.

Now that that’s out of the way, ‘grats to Larsen! Too bad they had to fine him today as well, lol.
