Tony Scheffler

A rare Mike Shanahan Wednesday injury update — Denver Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler and running back Selvin Young have been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with respective groin injuries. Rookie wide receiver Eddie Royal, who suffered an ankle injury during last Sunday’s game, is probable. Defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban is also probable with a strained groin of his own.

Shanahan joked and said his good mood prompted the early injury update. Normally a player’s injury status for the upcoming game isn’t concretely known until Friday. “Usually I don’t share that with you guys, obviously, but since you guys have been such a good group of guys (being) 1-4 would be a lot different.”

Coach also indicated that Scheffler and Young should be available the following week, a Monday Night Football road trip to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots. There was some concern Scheffler might be out for the season, but those rumors proved untrue.

Fantastic news, as far as I’m concerned. Now let’s really focus on Jacksonville and figure out ways to attack this defense without Scheffler.

Hopefully we can still generate some good pressure without Ekuban. I think we have proven our passing attack is versatile enough to survive missing one WR. Selvin Young might be a big injury but we dont rely yson one RB anyways so i dont know how big an impact that is.

Keep Royal out a week or two and let him heal up. It’s not worth the risk.

Anon, I would agree if it were a sprained ankle, but they’re saying it wasn’t a sprain, but rather a bruised bone. Ankle sprains can be lingering, but I a bruised bone doesn’t make me want to hold him out as much.

Really, all this news is GREAT. It will be good to have everyone back by next week.

I now hope that our backups (like Nate Jackson) show that we have talent thoughout our depth chart. I also hope that with Young sitting out this week, Mike Shanahan takes the chain off Pittman and let’s him run all over Jacksonville. This is just the type of game he’s been looking for to prove he can carry the load.

Give him the rock, Coach! :)

Micheal”pittbull” pittman!!! that guy is a beast, i love watching him bruise over defenders, but i think hall will start

I think Pittman has earned the start. I’d be floored if Andre got the nod (sorry JD).

playing wo sheff is going to hurt. is it me or does graham whine about wanting to be in the passing game the most, yet also has the most drops ever? i think jackson has better hands, but isnt the blocke shanny wants. our offense will be limited with those two at te… hopefully the fact that royal looks to play wont close the playbook too much.
