Greg Wesley Signs With the Raiders

ESPN is reporting that Greg Wesley has signed a one year $730,000 deal with the Raiders.  Wesley is a former Kansas City Safety who wanted out of K.C. throughout the 2007 season.  The Broncos almost traded for Wesley on two separate occasions.  The Chiefs got cold feet not wanting to send him to an AFC West Rival back in 2006, the following season they asked too high a price, he was then released back in May.  Looks like Wesley did exactly what the Chiefs brass didn’t want by signing in the AFC West, except they weren’t able to secure compensation for their loss albeit to Oakland.

The veteran safety will most likely add depth behind Raider safeties Gibril Wilson and Michael Huff.  Greg is reportedly “happy to remain in the AFC West and has looked forward to playing against the Chiefs twice this season.”

Hey look. We can homerize it as much as we’d like, but the guy makes a good point. Wesley has had a much better career than Mcree.

Youre right mang, but he doesnt bother to compare 2007.

Wesley had 30 tackles, 0 INTs, 0 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.
McCree had 67 tackles, 3 INTs, 0 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.

Wesley might bounce back in his new digs, but recent history favors McCree. :)

I don’t mean that Wesley was never good. He is just getting old and not as good as he used to be. You can look at career stats all you want, that means the Simeon Rice would have been a GREAT pick up for us last year and we see how that went. McCree right now is the better player. Once again Rick… you’re an idiot. Wesley has more tread in his tires than McCree, which when its a one year age difference, I would rather have the guy with the fresher legs. McCree was only released from the Chargers because Eric Weddle is a beast. Wesley was a Chief, and Chiefs fail. At least McCree was a Charger and knows what its like to win. Last years stats and performances show that Wesley is starting to take some damage from all the game time. Thank you Rick for being an idiot, it makes my day so much better.

Perhaps you’ve never heard of the term “freak of nature”, that my dim witted friend is John Lynch. You see now Rick, people are different, people like John Lynch can make it 16+ seasons and still keep trucking. Greg Wesley is in no way shape or form even close to John Lynch.
