I teared up a bit when I saw he was retiring. He was always one of my favs. I couldn’t even write the article myself on Bronco Madness.

Rod is a class act, like Jerry Rice before him. He is everything you want in a player and hopefully future coach. His 2001 season statistics alone should get him in to the HOF, but he also had an entire great career to back up the claim.

I can only hope that he revisits the idea of coaching. He represents the heart and soul of what the Broncos are all about. I think we can only be a better team with him on the field in any capacity.

Definitely worthy of having his number retired, Rod Smith is one of my favorite players of all-time.

Pat Bowlen waived the 5 year rule for John Elway to the Ring of Fame. Don’t you think Rod deserves the same consideration?

not only is he one of the top broncos but top receivers of all time. Rod wasnt a first round wide receiver or top wide receiever coming out of college, but to come in as an undrafted rookie free agent and have the career he had is definetly Hall Of Fame worthy. without question.
