Jack,
In the end, though, Robertson has no say in the actual trade. He can hold out all he likes after the fact, but technically (and that's why I included that word in the original post), the Jets own his rights and can trade them away as they see fit.

Mike,
From what I've been told, and just plain reading between the lines, both teams are playing hardball. It wouldn't surprise me if, behind the scenes, NYJ still want the 4th and 5th they got from CIN before that deal was debunked. Failing a physical should drop the trade compensation, so Denver's offering less. Both teams are sticking to their guns.

Why can't the Broncos just get him already? He'd be a great fit for them.

Robertson actually has more say in the matter than you suggest. Obviously he has to be willing to sign a new deal for the trade to go through. The Broncos have a deal set up with him. If he wanted to, he could refuse to sign a new deal with the Eagles and thus force the Eagles to drop out. Now, he almost certainly won't do that, but he certainly has some say in the matter.

here is shanahan wasting time when we already should have had this guy on our roster. a deal and compensation has already been agreed upon, SO WHAT IS THE DAMN DELAY??? if we dont get this guy then it changes our whole outlook on the first two rounds. if we sign this guy we dont have to worry about drafting a DT until after the first two rounds. i was excited to see denver going after this guy, but all this waiting and now the eagles throw a wrench in our works is very disheartening. just make the deal shanahan!!!!

Like it's been pointed out before - any DT drafted this year probably won't have an immediate impact on the current season. Even if the price is a 4th and 5th instead of 5th and 6th, it would still be worth it to have a proven player who is hungry to play in a system in which he fits.
