[Domonique Foxworth]

Three Broncos defensive backs have been given their tenders, the Rocky Mountain News reports. Domonique Foxworth, Karl Paymah, and Hamza Abdullah were all affixed with low tenders, which grant the Broncos the right of first refusal. The players can negotiate with other teams in the NFL, but the Broncos can match any offer to keep them on the team.

Should any player leave, the Broncos would receive draft pick compensation equivalent to the round in which that player was taken. Foxworth and Paymah were selected in the third round of the NFL draft. Abdullah was selected in the seventh by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Broncos have been in contract negotiations with Abdullah for much of this offseason in attempts to work out a long term contract. Those negotiations reached a standstill Monday.

While the poison pill contract is always a looming threat, it seems the Broncos are well covered. It’s rumored they would let Foxworth walk for a 3rd if someone offered him, but I think they like Paymah enough and are thin enough at safety to match any offer given to either he or Abdullah.

As far as I’m concerned that’s the wrong way round – they should be offering Paymah around and be prepared to keep Fox no matter what. I thought Fox was unlucky not to be given a shot at the starting job last year.

Wow foxy sounds like he took a shot at shanny and company in his blog

“It is really reassuring to know that my hard work gets recognized by the fans if nobody else.”

maybe he didn’t mean it like that, but that did come out the day of his tender

So Foxworth proves his worth by being able to play at safety, where we are thin, but we’d let him go for a 3rd rounder? Has Paymah actually improved to the point where he is better than Foxworth?

Actually, in nickel situations Paymah played above Bly. Bly moved to nickel and Paymah to the #2. They love Karl’s measurables and he did improve last year.
