[DEN] @ [HOU]

I am PUMPED for this game, folks. It has every hidden storyline one could beg for… huge playoff implications (win or GO HOME), Teachers vs. Student, two explosive offenses… [insert Tim Allen's iconic grunt OH HO HO HO HO!].

As I said before, to me this game comes down to Champ Bailey being able to shut down Andre Johnson – although I’m told Johnson is expected to line up across from Dre Bly if the two sides were to play their normal positions. If the corners struggle we’ll be forced to roll coverage to Andre’s side, deeply hampering our ability to stack 8 in the box like we’d like.

The Brandons switched roles this time around – Stokley is inactive after missing practices, and Walker is lining up again after two full-speed romps this week. Full inactives over at Mason’s Morsels – LET’S G0 BRONCOS! WIN OUT FROM HERE!

  • Not exactly the defensive stop we had hoped. Dre Bly's coverage was solid, but Andre Johnson repeatedly beat his man for the ball. It opened up the running game for the Texans, and Sage Rosenfels could have crawled into the end zone. First rushing TD of his career. 7-0 Texans.
  • Hey, Javon? You want to keep your salary, right? Don't ever walk like that again, the play after Marshall steps out.
  • You can see Bailey frustrated. Hamza whiffs on a play... three Broncos surround a Texans and let him go forward for 3-4 more yards... pull it together guys, this game is already getting away from us in the momentum department.
  • Champ is down...
  • ...and back in. Looked like either a hand/arm injury or he possible banged his head against the turf as he fell awkwardly.

AND WHAT A HIT BY D.J. WILLIAMS
  • We're pinned deep, and the last thing we need is a pick or fumble. Be smart, Cutler, and hold onto the ball, Travis.
  • Just like that, Scheffler, THE X-FACTOR, moves the ball and we're at midfield. Let's put some points on the ball, Broncos.
  • BRANDON MARSHALL VS. THE WORLD! No gain, but boy was that fun to watch.

*bitchslaps defenders' helmet, knocks him to ground, proceeds to demand 10 would-be tacklers*
  • And we're into the second quarter... Texans lead 7-0.
  • Ugly sack... glad Cutty's alright. Mario Williams jumped right over Cecil Sapp and flipped Cutler around on a first down. But a screen pass to Selvin Young and a bullet to Brandon Marshall later, and the Broncos have 1st and 10 in Houston territory.
  • One offensive line is protecting their quarterback. One is not. Cutler has no time out there.
  • Elam is good from 41 yards. 7-3 Texans.
  • Andre Davis' 50-yard return is saved by Jamie Wilborn (already earning his contract extension). The defense bails the special teams out, and the Texans can only get 3. 10-3 Texans in the 2nd.
  • Marshall's a little banged up but is playing through the pain. Glad to see it. He's helping us move the chains consecutively.
  • That was clearly the second unflagged pass interference where I would have blown the whistle.
  • ChampSB3233
Need touchdowns in this game. This is a recording.
  • Elam is good from 47 yards. 10-7 Texans. We need a 3 and out to have a chance to put up some more points before halftime.
  • If Taylor Jacobs hadn't caught Andre Davis from behind, that one looked like a mirror image of Davis' 97-yard return last week, tip-toeing down the sideline.
  • ChampSB3233
    Nice hold.
Now move it down and score before the half.
  • I think Dre Bly is trying to give me a heart attack.

Martinez calls fair catch on the punt, then lets it bounce. It bounced right into Bly who is smart enough to hold on (if he had touched it and dropped it, it's a fumble), then goes for a return.

In hindsight, I don't think he had any other choice. He hadn't called fair catch.
  • Oh, my, we're lucky to get that one away. Demps had that one wrapped up. Looked like John Lynch in the 2005 AFC Championship Game.
  • We give it right back with just under 2 minutes in the half. Defense, let's hold em.
  • Call timeout... thank you.
  • ChampSB3233
Good hold. 56 seconds left to make something happen.
Defense stepping up after a shaky start.
  • We've got a little over a minute to try that again. I hope that hit John Lynch put on that Texan on 3rd down is the momentum shift we need.
  • Scratch that. 47 seconds left (after the punt), and we're at around our own 35.
  • ChampSB3233
    That was weak.
  • Cutler gets tripped up (which is a penalty, another unflagged one, but I digress). They let the clock go down from there. 10-6 Houston, halftime.
  • 2nd half thread is up.
  • 100%
What the hell is going on man? Does anyone else feel like they are playing a bit lethargic?
