Kyle,
Let me try to offer a different point of view... I am at home happy to be getting the game actually broadcast in my area, I turn on the TV and watch the first part of the game to see the Chargers go up 14-0 in a very short amount of time. All 14 points came off of what can be called "a lack of execution" Shanahan's words not mine. Then I walk away from the TV which is unusual for me to even get up unless a break in the action occurs. I have a house full of projects that need attention but I also have my wife's blessing to watch the game (since we don't get that many out here) I get up and then periodically come back to check on the score. I had the luxury of going back and forth to the TV and home projects, JD did not & Tustin did not as they slapped down the $$ for the tix. I came back in the 3rd qtr and gave it another try, the Chargers committed 3 consecutive penalties totaling 27 yds and they were looking at 3 and 37 I told myself as long as the Broncos can stop them and get the ball back I'll finish watching the rest of the game, they gave up a 39 yd pass play for the 1st down. That was all I had time for.
My frustration does not call into question my loyalties to this team, I have been cheering the Broncos since 1973 what does come from my frustration is the unfortunate realization that life outside of the Broncos does exist, had I paid the $$ to sit in the stadium I would have stayed, But I don't live in Denver and I don't get to go to many games. (I'm in the same boat as JD) I do not fault anyone who is displeased with the performance on the field and the only way for a paying fan to show displeasure is to leave and go face the rest of life, We would all rather sit in the stadium in joyful delirium and watch the Broncos win it all, but if they are having an off year as they do every 6-8 years then I will go change my car's oil. Our level of expectation is high as it should be.
This is an age old debate, and I just think that folks like Tustin realize that they can go home and change the oil (ETC) instead of sit and watch the train wreck on the field. I don't think that EVERY Broncos player gave it their all on Sunday, however I do think that plenty of them worked their asses off. And this has happened now for a few weeks in a row. My Frustration is not born out of this game alone as it comes from 5 weeks of un-Broncolike football. You only have to hit me over the head a few times before I'll walk away and this is the case with the Broncos. I know it will get better and I know that we are one of the winningest franchises in the NFL. Because of that I will be front and center in the living room Sunday night in two weeks to watch them take care of Pittsburgh and then I am flying to Denver and have slapped down my $$ for the Monday night Green Bay game, and you can damn well bet I'll be there until the clock ticks to 00:00 regardless of the outcome.

Absolutely they quit. A team that is trying, a team that is playing with pride does not give up a 70 yard touchdown run when it's losing 34-3 AT HOME.

Fans that pay in excess of $100 face value a ticket can do whatever they want when a team has lost 6 of their last 8 games at home. It's time to demand accountability from Shanahan for poor preparation and crappy game plans for many years now.

When a team gets plastered 41-3, it's more than bad luck. It's about poor coaching and poor execution. When you're down by 3 touch downs, an up-the-middle run and sub-10 yard pass game doesn't make too much sense...nor does taking the 3 points when you're down by 17 points with a 4th and 4 situation. If you were at the game, you would see just how lifeless the Broncos actually played -- THEY QUIT.

Talk about missing the point Tustin.

I'm not making excuses regarding injuries, and that's why we blew it. Never said it, never will. Read my comment completely before tearing it down.

The injuries we sustained that day are more than enough to show there were plenty of Broncos giving it their all out there. The fans bailed first.

Don't cry about injuries. How did the Colts do this weekend minus FIVE starters including their top running back and receiver? A Colts team we were supposed to be competitive with BTW

The team had a plague of crazy, unlucky fumbles that kept us out of this game! You say they weren't trying - I disagree. There is a silver lining in every loss, and if anything this one showed that the defense didn't get torched 9-12 yards every single down on a run up the middle. The Chargers simply made more plays, and didn't make any mistakes. Whenever the Broncos made a play, there was a detrimental mistake that followed.

I guess that means they didn't care? I guess you think they didn't give it their all, what with a quad injury from Champ, an season-sending injuries to Nalen and Jackson? I'd say they put everything they could AND THEN SOME out on that field.

It was a lot of bad luck, a lot of bad execution on offense, but it sure as hell wasn't for a lack of trying. The team didn't give up, the fans did, because they've become spoiled and will only cheer during a win.

Oh please, spare me this you are not a fan crap. I have followed the Broncos since 1977 (Red Miller/Craig Morton days) so I have seen the highs and lows. This is definitely one of the lower points.

I, unlike you, refuse to accept mediocrity and poor effort. If the Broncos were really giving it their all then I would support them even if the went 4-12. However they weren't hustling, weren't hitting and weren't trying.

The 70+ yard run for a touchdown to make it 41-3? Are you kidding me? This is okay for you? You are going to "cheer anyways"? Seeing Rivers yuck it up on their sideline is okay with you?

Well not me and not the Broncos team I support. I do not know who those imposters were this Sunday but just because they stole the orange and blue doesn't mean I have to love them "no matter what". If you want em you can have em.

As a Bronco fan of almost 30 years, yes, i was more than disappointed in the game yesterday, but even more so at the Denver fans. Maybe you are all to young to remember the Elway early years. Elway played for at least 10 plus seasons with little to no respect. We loved him when he won, but the nasty comments & how we should get a different QB flew when the Broncos lost, again and again. Thank God for Coach Mike! When he came to Denver he
did not listen to what the fans said about John E, he instead did what he does best, coach the team into winning seasons, eventually winning back to back SB's. We basically have a new team here in Denver, we have key injuries Javon, Rod Smith, Lynch, Wiliams....We tragically lost two players in the off season. Give my Broncos a break! Your either a fan or your not. I love my Broncos, win or lose, the fans...not so much.

I said I would love to be a game where a record was broken, but 'THE WORSE HOME-GAME DEFEAT' was not the one I would have picked. :(

I have to agree with you on the "Well, at least there's the Rockies" line -- I heard it a bunch. With the stadium nearly empty in the middle of the third quarter, I struck up a conversation with a Chargers fan that was in SHOCK at our fans. He said that he had talked up the Bronco fans to his friend and had just been saying before the game how they were loyal and would stick with their team through thick and thin. But what he saw today had floored him. He just never thought he'd see Denver fans booing their team as they left for half time - I mean there was a FULL SECOND HALF OF THE GAME LEFT!!!

Anyway, it was sad they lost. It was even more sad to see the state of the average ticket holder's loyalty to this team.

I, for one, refuse to give up on this team (or our head coach). We have issues. We need to correct them. But this is NOT a reason to stop supporting the players on the field folks.
