It's a tough business and Hixon wasn't producing. Whether it was related to the Everett hit or not (and remember, it's not like we had a lot of game footage to see before the hit), in the end it's all a result-based thing and he just wasn't putting up numbers. This team has gone through a lot this year in the tragedy department, and the other 31 teams aren't going to play any nicer because of it. I really hope that TSG over on Mason's blog is right and that this is about Everett, and that he can get over this and try again next season. I know that if I had a run-in with someone in my first professional game and that someone didn't walk away--and might never walk away--that it'd affect me, too. I’m still sad about Hix. I can understand that. Football is all about want-to, and I'm sure Hix saw his whole life (and how much of it he has left) when Everett was carted away.
