While this might seem like a case of internet exaggeration, the truth of the matter is that the Raiders released their 3rd round draft choice who was (by most accounts) having a good preseason.

Peter King over at SI.com says:

Something stinks in Oakland. The Raiders released third-round defensive end Quentin Moses. When I was in Raiders camp, there was talk of him starting this year. Smells like a disagreement between Al Davis and Lane Kiffin over the final roster. To me, it's a terrible mistake. Moses will play, and play well, in the NFL; and the Raiders will be embarrassed over this. The Cardinals claimed him. I bet he'll be starting for the Cardinals by Oct. 1. What a dumb cut that was.

So, regardless of whether this was clerical (doubtful) or the product of an owner/coach dispute (more likely), it's still an ugly media mess.

And, yes, Denver had to deal with a similar media nightmare when Shanahan cut his 3rd round draft choice once. There was NO clerical error in that case, but then no team snatched up Maurice Clarett when he cleared waivers either.

Biased? Ya think?

The place should just become a fan site.

Oh wait...

But the bigger issue is that he was wrongly drafted? Is that what TommyGirl is saying?

This is an unsubstantiated rumor. There are several reasons that it cannot be true.

1) To assume that Moses was cut by mistake would ALSO assume that one player that SHOULD have been cut was NOT cut. In essence, one stupid error would have meant two stupid errors.

2) The guy assumed to have made the mistake is Oakland's lead counsel. He's not manning the fax machine.

3) Lane Kiffin called every kept player and every cut player on Friday night, as evidenced by subsequent player interviews.

4) Moses was scouted as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. He is one dimensional in a 4-3. He's a pass rush specialist whose weakness is against the run. The weakness of Oakland's defense IS the run. Richardson played much, much better in the RDE spot the last two games of the pre-season. 'Nuff said?

5) Kiffin commented over a week ago that there are no scholarship players and that being drafted high did NOT guarantee a place on the team. He held true to his word as evidenced by perennial Al Davis favorites being cut on Saturday, as well as Moses.

6) This has not been picked up by ANY of the major news outlets, only bloggers and PFT, which is a self-professed publisher of NFL rumors.

Even the Raiders are not this colossaly stupid. People need to use a little bit of common sense, but you're shown your bias very clarly (as if the orange and blue wasn't enough).
